The Thing That Should Not Be
John Emerson is Sadly, Right:
Jonah’s book is most successful among people who had no concept of fascism at all before they read the book by their friend Jonah, who told them all they needed to know: fascism is transfer payments and government interference in the economy.
And Jonah is a hyper-inflated version of the bright, glib, lazy frat boy college student who successfully bullshits his way through most of his undergrad years and then hits a wall during his senior year when a teacher actually requires him to perform, and who for the rest of his life whines about the biased teacher who ruined his career.
He’s the avatar of lazy undergrads, and he has has hundreds of thousands of disciples.
Also, the U.S. is doomed. Goldberg is going to successfully pull this off. The big Movement Conservatives will support him, or at least not blow his cover. The big media people will continue to pay him lots of money. And with his help, the American people will become just a smidgen stupider.
Supposedly, Pantload wrote the book because he was tired of hearing lefties use the word ‘fascist’ inappropriately (meaning, using it as a slightly hysterical description of quasi-fascist authoritarians like… Jonah Goldberg). So far as explaining Doughbob’s personal motives, this is probably correct. But it’s not quite the real reason why the book was published and has garnered the wingnut movement’s endorsement. Emerson hits on the larger motive; Daniel Pipes confirms it. On the one pudgy hand, Pantload’s book — dishonestly and preposterously, natch — inoculates the Right from any association with or responsibility for historically extremist ideologies, pushing the historical blame, as it were, entirely on the Left. On the other, and in the more general sense, it simultaneously broadens wingnuts’ pejorative lexicon while narrowing liberals’.
It’s not about arguing over history at all; it’s about putting ammo — dishonest, historically illiterate ammo, to be sure, but then these people don’t care — into the hands of legions of True Believers. And no amount of incisive, historically informed criticism will stop it; if anything, the more we lefties prove that Jonah’s book is a pile of dogshit, the more we confirm wingnuts’ belief that it’s pure gold. Twenty years from now trolls will cite that renowned, famously persecuted scholar Jonah Goldberg in calling our kind Hitler’s descendants.
Well, I say we just ignore the nut squad’s claims to have ‘proven’ anything at all, and go ahead and call the right “fascists” and Nazis all we want, at any moment, and if they say ‘uh-uh no no fascism is of the left’ then we will spin on a dime and start calling the right wing “Stalinists” and “Leninists”, and if they don’t like that, too bad. The nerdy invocation of “Godwin’s law” as some sort of rule is gone, and Jo’berg was the one who did it.
Jonah gets more fan mail:
I predict a boom in tanning-booth patronage if a Democrat makes it to the White House.
I haven’t seen this book taking any “world” by storm. I think we’re done here, except for enjoyment.
Tim the Other makes a good point. Is there any evidence anyone is reading this book? There’s plenty of evidence people are not…
Bubba,
I think many will take the unfortunate “quick” route, and just reach for the lotion.
Tim, va,
This turd was printed for the remainder bin. If the publisher wasn’t paying someone expressly to purchase a shitload of copies from Amazon, the crickets would be deafening. The problem is, the dipshits that will whip it out as an argument don’t need to read it. Its very existence is enough for them to buy wholeassedly into the premise of their wet dreams, “I’m rubber, you’re glue, bounces off me and sticks to you! It’s true ’cause Jonah sed so.”
Sigh.
And of course, now I have Metallica running through my head to boot.
I think many will take the unfortunate “quick” route, and just reach for the lotion.
You are suggesting the “Tanning Question” has a “solution”?
Perhaps a more final type of solution, Bubba del Righteous?
Yeah, but remember, very few people – outside of the wingnut extremists, and they aren’t legion anymore – have heard of Jonah Goldberg. He’s a nobody, really. What’s his book retailing for now? $5.95?
If the true believers multiply (again) and the vast majority of sensible people decide (again) to be polite and or to pander to them, let them have their way, there’s no hope for any of us. One book by the likes of Jonah Goldberg won’t matter much one way or the other.
El Cid — Godwin’s law is long dead. It happened about the time when we started torturing people, advocating genocide, etc. You know — doing things that are ACTUALLY Nazi-like.
Many of whom also believe the Earth is 6000 years old, Ronald Reagan was a genius, and Fox News is ‘fair and balanced’…
“Many of whom also believe the Earth is 6000 years old, Ronald Reagan was a genius, and Fox News is ‘fair and balanced’…”
Furthermore the WaPo has a liberal bias, and Saddam kicked out the UN weapons inspectors in 2003 before he moved all the WMDs to Syria.
Many of whom are also white supremists or wanna-bes. Thanks to his racism and cute little Hitler smiley face, Goldberg might come to regret his “cleverness”.
I see your concern, I agree with the analysis of Joughnut’s motives but Righteous Bubba points out a problem for the Serious Scholar of the fRight: He’s drawing the freaks, the ones who make the denizens of Clown Hall seem sane, out of the woodwork. And they’re flocking to him, and he’ll have to deal with them.
Bwahaha.
Then there’s this:
We’re talking about people who’ve taken the world’s first hippie and made him into some sort of Rambo figure who wants to tear the heads off everyone who live exactly as they do. We’re talking about people who are dead certain that if children aren’t taught that the creation story in the Bible is true, God will take a big steaming shit on the planet. We’re talking about people who can wave a Bible all day long and make it painfully clear they’ve only read the bits they like. And some of these people have gone out and killed because they squinted at the Bible and saw “God Wants U 2 Kill Kweers.”
I’m just not worried about who thinks what of Librul Fascism. Look at it this way: For the next 20, 40, 60 years, Joughnut will have to defend his book. He’ll never be anything more than the author of Librul Fascism and I suspect he’ll get a little tired of talking about it waaay before we get tired of laughing about it.
wants to tear the heads off everyone who ^doesn’t live exactly as they do.
Must. Have. Caffeine.
bell hooks is the Eichmann of liberal fascism.
The fact is, liberals still have no argument, no defense, not substantial valid criticism of this book, or refuation of any fact contained much less the central thesis. They are howling with outrage because they have been exposed, those who thought liberals were harmless flakes now know the dark source of their mission to “change the world.” The Heartland knows. The Heartland is on to you. The Heartland will win.
Twenty years from now trolls will cite that renowned, famously persecuted scholar Jonah Goldberg in calling our kind Hitler’s descendants in between repeated kicks to the area where their balls should be.
Shorter Gary Ruppert: tHe eyes OF Texas are on You. You cAn not gET away.
Let’s not get all depressed (not at the same time, anyway). Do the little minions read? I highly doubt this book will be cited by any BS scholar 20 years from now.
Yes, the book apparently make Jonah substantially wealthier. But we have seen wingnut welfare before.
Let’s all fucking relax. Some of us will be the recipients of paychecks for setting the historical record straight. We’ll be hot and in-demand again someday when we’re part of the backlash to the anti-intellectual backlash.
Books share many of the same strengths that are central to the innate goodness that for that majestic essence , the bean .
Modest sorts can have extensive lugumeries pointing to various phyla while declining to personally or individually engage . This sort of innocent status building while having not cracked the spine of one or ruminated in the grip of the other are an example of egalitarian good nature of our well meaning elites to mix and a mingle , sans the celebrated “Other’s”.
For the supposed “inspiration” of actually mixing and a mingling is the patently offensive ploy on the part of the Fascist heart to subtly incorporate our innocent flesh into the hallucinatory precincts of “Social Intercourse” . The shuddering potential obscenities that reportedly occur in these possible factions if not off putting enough are replete with incomprehensible cross pollinations . While requiring certain scholarly interests among the main reasons to maintain complete innocence through inexperience , the better to comprehensively digest through a purity of abstinence . This may initially be confusing , but it is embraced as a central cleansing point .
My tentative book which fatuously titled “Why Swimmers are all wet” or the involvement of meaninglessness from its center fringe to its outer here , extensively remarks on this .
The heartland is going to get you?
I thought the Rhythym was going to get you?
But I think it is worth mentioning that before Auschwitz and Treblinka, there was the identification of the ‘Jewish Question’ and the advocacy of the need for a ’solution’.
It’s true. As a white man I can’t stay in the most fashionable hotels, dine in many restaurants, or become romantically involved with “respectable” people. I am consigned with my white brethren to a white ghetto so that the police can keep a closer eye on us.
That’s if the Bladderland doesn’t get you first. That and Spleenland.
Just heard on Stephanie Miller that moron robot Glenn Beck, he of the *ss surgery, accused Hillary Clinton of being a “liberal fascist” for stating mild complaints about the disparities between CEO pay and average worker pay.
He’s a loyal little putz, and he’ll try, but you can tell it just won’t catch on. It’s like Bill O’Reilly begging, just begging people to use his “S.P.” acronym for “Secular Progressives,” and no one would.
Pantload’s book…inoculates the Right from any association with or responsibility for historically extremist ideologies, pushing the historical blame, as it were, entirely on the Left.
Hardly. You’re still paying him way too much attention and giving him way too much credit for—well, for anything. Practically no one outside the political blogosphere—and that’s still almost everyone in the whole world—has even heard of Doughbob Pantload, let alone his idiotic book. Any narrowing of lexiconic labels from one side to the other exists only in the very tiny minds of the very tiny number of wingnuts out there who actually choose to associate themselves in any way with this steaming pile of horseshit. And I’d bet even most of them aren’t stupid enough to want to do that.
Olexicon: I thought it was Instant Karma that was gonna get me.
Pantload is actually linking to white supremists for support.
What an idiot.
even better!
..and I thought I saw thge heartland hdiing in my shrubbery

You almost had the CAPITALS in this sentence re G Ruppert shown to perfection:
Shorter Gary Ruppert: tHe eyes OF Texas are on You. You cAn not gET away.
If you capitalize this as “tHe Eyes oF Texas are on You. you cAn not gET away” then the secret message to Jonah is “HEFTY EAT”
bwa ha ha
We’re talking about people who’ve taken the world’s first hippie and made him into some sort of Rambo figure who wants to tear the heads off everyone who live exactly as they do.
Actually, if you read a bit deeper into the Bible, it becomes clear that Jesus is not quite the peace-love-flowers figure a lot of people think he was. He’s really more like half-hippie, half-Jim Jones or David Koresh. There are some passages in which he instructs people to kill nonbelievers, or to abandon one’s family before following him, etc.
Not that I’m a religious scholar, so some of my flip characterization may be a bit off . . . indeed, that is central to my point.
It’s true… I’m gonna go cry now…..
Its all about the word game. Me and the Canadian girlfriend just read an article about a supposedly new trend where racists in the south refer to black people as “Canadians” (since the DFH’s made the N-word unspeakable). It seems to me to be a completely arbitrary association, much like liberal and fascist.
Why can’t we do the same back? Except of course that we lack the huge Wingnut Welfare system, their publishing backers, and the media all too eager to invite the kids of their old bosses on to the TV.
I think I’m going to start calling my conservative friends “hippies” because its the vilest word they can think of to call a liberal, and to use it on them will make their brain explode in the same way liberal/fascism does.
I just got a great idea. Can we just start calling all conservatives “liberals”? They’ve done all the hard work for us of demonizing the name, so how about we just use it on them. I suspect that people like Coulter, Jonah, Malkin, etc. would absolutely implode should they be referenced as a liberal on a daily basis. We’ll just use “progressive” or something.
I dunno if I’d be to worried about the ‘legions of true believers’. That group consists mainly of trolls, freepers, GOE’s and some little green snotballs – no one who’s not completely bat shit insane takes das book seriously.
Gary Rupert is a prime example.
I’m thinking it’s not going to be the opus that revives a conservative movement that’s destroyed itself in 13 short years.
But it’s not quite the real reason why the book was published and has garnered the wingnut movement’s endorsement.
Except that it hasn’t gained the wingnut movement’s endorsement, as shown by the negative criticisms of Ledeen, Bramwell at the American Conservative, and some other guy I forget. The wingnuts will not ignore Ledeen, at least. Most of the other NRO-niks are being quite conspicuously silent about the whole matter.
racists in the south refer to black people as “Canadians” (since the DFH’s made the N-word unspeakable).
My boyfriend’s brother, who was working at a grocery store, was telling him a story about some of his coworkers, but he kept using a spanish word that I had never heard. When I asked what it meant, he said that the latino employees had discovered that they couldn’t say “negros” when making fun of their black coworkers, because they knew what that meant. Instead, they had created a new word that they could use without getting in trouble.
Before I could start into a long-winded lecture, my boyfriend shouted, “Carlos! No! That’s BAD! We don’t talk like that in this country!” Carlos hung his head and shrugged his shoulders. “Ouueeeh I’m sorry, he said. I won’t do that.” So now I can safely assume that they don’t make racist jokes anymore. Yup, that solved the problem.
The fact is, it is still the best selling book on Amazon, and they are almost out of stock, which would be biased if they do not order more. The reviews are mostly positive and supportive, except for hard left trolling. You cannot defeat the truth.
Godwin’s Law is a law more in the sense of the law of diminishing returns. The “law” simply states that as any comment thread(on any topic) gets longer, the likelihood that someone will mention Hitler approaches 100%.
I agree with the commenter above that the left should NOT let go of a perfectly good word to describe some, not all, of the right wing’s principles and activities.
For example, is there really any other word but FASCISM to decribe that FASCIST J. Edgar Hoover’s and his FASCIST plans to round up and imprison without trial thousands of US citizens in 1950?
http://www.nytimes.com/2007/12/23/washington/23habeas.html?ex=1356066000&en=51115b422df80200&ei=5090&partner=rssuserland&emc=rss
You cannot defeat the truth.
Silly boy. You don’t have to ‘defeat’ it. You can always bury it in bullshit.
For example, is there really any other word but FASCISM to decribe that FASCIST J. Edgar Hoover’s and his FASCIST plans to round up and imprison without trial thousands of US citizens in 1950?
Well, as a few people have mentioned, “Stalinist” also works well and has that extra dash of irony.
Newspeak.
You hit it on the head, HTML.
El Cid sez:
“Well, I say we just ignore the nut squad’s claims to have ‘proven’ anything at all, and go ahead and call the right “fascists” and Nazis all we want…”
Exactly. And when someone says, “But Jonah Greenblatt proved that fascists are actually liberals and of teh left,” we say (with saintly patience), “No, what he did was falsify history and spread a pernicious pseudo-documented slander. Like the fascist that he is.”
QE frickin’ D!
Most of the other NRO-niks are being quite conspicuously silent about the whole matter.
Yes, Goldberg’s fellow Cornerites have been noticeably quiet on this. He keeps putting links to his book blog there, and they don’t respond.
They’re missing out really, as the Liberal Fascism blog is truly a wonder to behold, especially the emails to a crap dude.

…If the publisher wasn’t paying someone expressly to purchase a shitload of copies from Amazon….
I doubt the publisher is buying copies (possible but unlikely) however, I suspect there are quite a few bulk orders that were made specifically to boast sales. With any luck, some intern at Doubleday will take a close look at their in-house sales records and dump the info here. It would not take much to push the book on the list, say, 10 bulk buys of 1k copies ought to more than do the trick. Handled properly, the books can be given to members of conservative organizations for, oh, Xmas gifts, and be bought on discount and not taxed, etc. I would think it’s worth, say, 50k for NRO by itself to insure that Jonah ends up on the list and that might almost do the trick. Drop in the bucket, in more ways than one.
Thanks, J, that is some potent stupid.
So now Jonah has made some fragile mind incapable of handling daily social interaction. Poor guy. He must never be allowed to see Being John Malkovich
As paranoid as I usually am, I’m not too bugged about Jonah Lucianneson’s magnum doughpus. Does anyone still quote from None Dare Call It Conspiracy anymore without cueing the laugh track? The Late, Great Planet Earth? Hell, even The Turner Diaries is better written than Doughy’s pile o’ pulp. Even Desert Publications won’t touch it; Loompanics Unlimited might fob off a few copies they picked up in a remainder bin.
here is how true cons see this book:

I agree with the anger and frustration towards this book; but I do believe that constantly showing how full of crap it is actually does some good. Hard as that may be to see. It does rob people of the ability to actually think it’s solid and truthful.
The printing and distribution of this book is an attack on reasoning and history; but disputing it and attacking it’s complete crapitude is necessary. Consider Bill O’Lielly and the Coultergeist – if no one ever spoke out against them and contradicted them, they’d probably be in office right now. Whereas now, their audience and sales are gradually being chipped away.
Here’s an odd prediction that I’m just going to toss into the mix:
At some point, Tom Wolfe will (either tacitly or explicitly) withdraw or qualify his endorsement of the book.
Well, the good news is that since last week, LF dropped from #2 to #9 in overall sales, and from #1 to #2 in politics on Amazon. The book that is now #1 in politics is the same one that was #1 before dough-boy’s screed was unleashed on to the general public
like the bubonic plague. In other words, after the big hoo-hah of the first few weeks, book sales are dwindling fast… just as I expected would happen. I wouldn’t be surprised if it winds up in the $1 bin, next to Coulter, Malkin and O’Reilly by summer.

The American Conservative had another smackdown, too.
I think the Goldwater stalwarts are starting to be stunned at what their movement’s supposed heirs are doing these days, at just how spoiled and stupid they’ve turned out to be. It’s like a tycoon cutting off his grandkids.
He may be aspiring to have his book enter the pantheon of the Nat Turner Diaries, or the Protocols of the Elders of Zion. Both of those were easily disproved forgeries, full of manufactured falsehoods. But they have poisoned thought and debate ever since, and they continue to warp people’s thoughts. I would wager that the home schooled, less educated and less economically advantaged will be easy marks for its distortions and faulty reasoning.
It means that there will be many straw-man arguments to refute before you can get to a real conversation about politics with many who will adopt its errors unquestioned, because they appreciate the liberty it bestows upon them to hold onto their prejudices.
I would caution against improperly tarring them with the dread ‘L’ word. As with Fascism, it is a particular word with specific meaning, and it should be used correctly. Even if your opponent will twist all language in order to lazily score a few points. However, when they ask for the forces of government tn be used to restrict your liberties, then they are abusing the State in a Liberal fashion and they should be called on it.
Sometimes I wonder if Wolfe thought the book was a work of fiction, and Jonah Goldberg was a historian character in the book, spinning a fantastic tale. After all, it does make a nice work of fiction.
They’re missing out really, as the Liberal Fascism blog is truly a wonder to behold, especially the emails to a crap dude.
Jonah’s e-mail selection is hilarious and completely in character with his general bumbling. He doesn’t get that his blog is only an advertisement that works on the stupids who would already fall for his book.
Tom Wolfe is the original concern troll (cf. Radical Chic and Mau-Mauing the Flak Catchers) and has roughly zero integrity. Of course he’ll withdraw or deny or modify his endorsement of Jonah Lucianneson.

In direct support of what you said, I don’t think Taki the paleocon likes neocons very much (second paragraph espec.).
BTW, the AmCon review is here.
I see a couple of links above to Paul Gottfried’s review at Taki. He and Jonah have a rather unfortunate history, so it’s not surprising he’s taking a whack at the Pantload Pinata.
From Taki’s site:
It shall be our considered task to take on the chicken-hawks of this world, and give them wedgies again.
BWWWWWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
I…I..that…
BWAHAHAHAHA…heh heh heh…okay…I really have to go back to work now…
hee hee
God damn, I like paleocons who aren’t afraid to call a spade a spade:
That description fits Doughboy to a T.
Oh, and this one is good too:
Even the thickest citizens among us won’t swallow the idea that liberals are both communist and fascist at the same time, probably.
It’s like a tycoon cutting off his grandkids.
Ha! That’s a great simile. I just hope it keeps being true.
But in the long run have Coulter’s or Malkin’s or Desousa’s books made much of an impression? And those three *appear* bright and attractive. Goldberg in person is even dumber and uglier than his writing.
I like to hope the stupid ugliness will leave a stronger, longer impression than the stupid ugly book.
Fozzetti–
That’s perfect. Jonah is Dinesh D’Souza as portrayed by (the alas late) Chris Farley
Or, in another cinematic setting:
“Fat, ahistorical, and stupid is no way to go through life, son.”
As I’ve said before, it doesn’t matter how we respond to this offal; it still helps to pin, if not move, the Overton Window way the hell Right.
Snark, academic blowout, burning the damn thing, it all feeds into the idea that there’s something there.
But I say we continue with the snark, just because it seems to make Doughbob whine the most.
Unless, of course, someone decides to send a Pie Squad to Jonah’s next appearance.
It has to be said, though, that Taki Takealotofcokeupthenos is a tosser. Private Eye magazine has been singing his beard for years. As they pointed out in a famous disclaimer:
“Taki is not a cocaine dealer, merely a convicted cocaine smuggler, a liar, and fascist sympathiser.”
I have to disagree. There are people who will display it proudly, just as there is, I’d imagine, a market for specially-printed Hillary targets for gun range practice. They may not read it, and may base their ‘reviews’ upon what’s said about it by their preferred opinion providers, but this is a slightly different phenomenon to the Regnery model of bulk-sale propagandising. This is Pantload’s crossover moment, and he’s desperate to do better than Malkin.
The fact is, liberals still have no argument, no defense, not substantial valid criticism of this book
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Ain’t got no mother, ain’t got no culture . . .
But you know what we got? That’s right, we got life, brother.
To help spread the Goldberg Variolations (meaning a particular style of historical inquiry and argument), I’ve created a blog.
Please send me only sycophantic observations or I will have to shut the comments off.

Well, it’s really hard to get kindergarteners with crayons to focus on words…
At my local Barnes & Noble store here in Oregon, Liberal Fascism is on an order only basis. When I checked last week, there was only one on order.
Jonah Goldberg’s attempt to turn the definition of ‘fascism’ on its head reminds me of the Right’s success in claiming the ‘conservative’ mantle. Contemporary Bush/Cheney/Rove style politics have absolutely nothing to do with traditional American conservatism, yet Atwater and Gingrich and the other GOP spinmeisters managed to bullshit the media and the electorate into recognizing their radical brand of politcs as ‘conservatism.’
The Right is intellectually dishonest in the extreme– their only agenda is to win at all costs, thus they will resort to all manner of tricks and distortions to acheive the ends they desire. Fabricating myth out of thin air is their speciality, and they devote far more time and energy to that task than they do to the formulation of policy.

Holy crap. I used to know a guy that referred to people like that as “Walk-Ins”. According to him, the aliens would look for folks with absolutely zero personal substance and take over their bodies, easier that way, y’know. I can’t remember the whole story, but suffice it to say that this seems a pretty good illustration.
Also, that symbol site is all but unreadable for the background. Do people even check their code by trying to read the site anymore? Sigh. I’ll just stick to the Unicode, myself, I suppose.
http://www.unicode.org/charts/
I have seen some compatibility issues here and there, though. That, and it’s in hex and needs & # x rather than & #.
Some day my prints will come…
After I learned about “walk-ins” I started noticing signs welcoming them. For some reason, these were usually at beauty salons.
Imagine if the Shadow People could find work as right wing flacks. It would be a whole new paranormal broadcasting system for the right.
And with his help, the American people will become just a smidgen stupider.
Not possible. Anyone who listens to Jonah is already maxed out on the stupidity scale.
Even the thickest citizens among us won’t swallow the idea that liberals are both communist and fascist at the same time, probably.
Really? But Jonah and his ilk have made plenty of political hay out of the idea that if something is bad, then it is “liberal”. Besides, communism IS fascism, according to The Whale. Consider the idea swallowed, digested and coming to you in Jack-Chick-style comic book form any day now.

…Liberal Fascism is on an order only basis….’
Yeah, I’ve looked and asked in various bookstores and there are no signs that LF is selling much at all. Which makes me think it’s bulk sales. It’s possible, I guess, that there’s a grassroots swell of net sales, similar to Greenwald’s first book, but if that was the case then it’s likely that Amazon, etc. would have nothing now except a ton of backorders and ziliion reviews. Again, someone at Doubleday needs to leek the sales stats to sadlyno. No, it’s unlikely that without some footwork, you can figure out who, exactly is buying it, but usually you can spot bulk sales and strange and unlikely sales patterns. It’s not a rare thing, a surprising number of books fly on to the list due to dodgy and bulk sales.

The best thing about being a Republican ideologue is that your base is stupid enough to believe any old crap you care to offer them. No actual thought, research, or foundation in reality is needed at all, just make up any old claptrap and you can count on most of the Republican base lapping it up. Just look at how popular Christianity is among them. If you believe in talking bushes and magically fermenting water (into wine), why not believe that Goldberg has a clue what he is talking about? Faith-based ideology is best as you don’t actually have to make sense.
OK, I know it is one of those icky subjects so let’s call it food for thought…and I am not saying Doe E. knows this is what he is doing – for the new right’s young are on auto pilot …but thanks for bringing this up. Ultimately your post is about language control which is a major mind control technique. This is not simply persuading or debating facts…its language control.
It is the son of Newt’s GOPAC Memo language control effort which wasn’t about trying to convince someone on an issue – the GOPAC memo was about manipulating minds.
You can see a short three minute clip in which the aide to the top funder and molder of conservative thought over the last 25 years will tell you what the third world war is all about:
The right learned to play the ideology game like the one who spent the most propping up their movement. Q up Gomer’s sirprize!! sirpriiiize!!!
The right started years ago by demonizing all sources of information which did not support the agenda of the conservative movement. It’s no secret that the controlled are conditioned to believe the conservative agenda is “good” America and their God’s agenda. The “it’s liberal biased info” complaint as we all know was a huge fraud in that the same people who claimed to hate “any” bias now are foam-on-q dogs for FOX, Rush and religious right radio. Religious right radio doesn’t even dip its toe in the real world anymore. Their listeners are cut off.
The demonization of the non approved of media though, that produced another leg, Information Control. Another HUGE Mind Control technique especially when applied so intensely. This is unprecedented what has happened to our fellow Americans.
The failure of not admitting that our neighbors are being controlled, being systematically controlled – and it does not matter at this point whether it was intentional or just the result of the lust for power – by not exposing it, our nation is doomed to continue in this death spiral.
Well, that’s my positive thought for the day. 🙂
CW lives!
That three minute clip is sizzling with Moonie juice. Whew.

Exactly! I have been pointing this out for a bit now. It was just to give these dipshits ammo to call liberals what they themselves are. Goldberg was not qualified in the least to approach a subject as complex, rich, and historically significant as fascism and its development. But by hacking out a piece of crap and calling all liberals Hitler, he earned his wingnut welfare checks for the rest of his life.
Pantsload is evidently pawning himself off as a “Pulitzer-nominee,” shameless lying hack that he is.

He should be loudly laughed at in every venue for this latest bit of dishonesty.
I’m surprised the right-wingers weren’t citing Terror and Liberalism before this in order to say “Hey, you left-wingers are exactly what created terrorism in the first place!”
