FDL is my first stop on the ‘net. There’s amazing reporting there – the liveblogging of the Libby trial was historic. You get people like Ambassador Wilson to show up and chat. It’s absolutely amazing. But for the most part the comment section has become unreadable fluff, except on posts where the mods expressly forbid it to be (e.g. liveblogging). Please, please, please don’t try to start some sort of pissing match over what people said here about FDL yesterday. Like noen said, this blog and FDL are different things – we need both.

I am TOTALLY funnin’ ya. This is my favorite blog on the web. I may spend more time here than at my home blog.

And yes, even we FDL writers get a little impatient sometimes with the constant, “Hey!” and “Oh, hey!”, “Hey, how are you?”, “Good, going to bed soon!”, “Oh, well, good night!”, “Good night!”, “G’night!”, “Goooood night!” stuff that goes on in the comment threads, but that’s the readers’ territory, which we exert only minimal editorial control over. The only comments we take out are the abusive ones, so the readers/commenters are free to talk about whatever they want, and that seems to be what they want to talk about.

I do miss the smaller, but more pointed and on-topic comment threads we used to have, but if the readers are happy, then more power to them.

It is best to not understand the gods and how they conduct business. If people understood the depth of wickedness and evil the gods are capable of they will use this knowledge and instruct Artificial Intelligence to push it into their consciousness when their head is on the chopping block.
