Larry Johnson is not a progressive, a liberal, or a Democrat. He never claimed to be. He’s a Republican ex-CIA operative who had some inside-baseball gripes with the currently dominant Republican faction. And he decided to “support” the Democrats for strategic reasons in order to further his own agenda.

That’s as far as his “commitment” to the Democrats has ever gone. For obvious reasons, he found the Clintons more congenial tools for furthering that agenda than Obama would be.

I imagine most of his commenters have never been authentic Democrats any more than he is.

None of them ever would have supported a candidate who might challenge the prerogatives of the military and the intelligence services.

What good points did both sides have? Obama’s foreign policy is better than Clinton’s, in my eyes, since he expresses readiness to talk with countries like Iran or Cuba. On the other hand, Clinton had a much more well-defined, well-thought-out health care plan than anything Obama put forward. In my mind, stopping wars trumps fixing healthcare, so I preferred Obama.

If we assume that all three have really wanted to do what they promised, there’s still no reason to believe that Hillary would be able to do any better than Bill. I just don’t think she’d be capable of campaigning in the general without doing that triangulation/tack right/attack left/only-swing-states-count thing. Probably so. All a person can do in life is play the odds. There have been a few hopeful signs where Obama is concerned, and so I’m very cautiously optimistic. For example, if he does anything, anything at all aimed at getting big lobbying money out of politics, however small the progress it will be better than the whole lotta nuthin’ we’d see out of almost anyone else. And if I’m gonna get screwed, I’d at least like to have it be someone who will buy me a drink first.

How many prayers of thanksgiving do you think Neil Cavuto says for people like Harriet Christian? “A crazy, racist old grandma? And she self-identifies as a Democrat? Score!”

Does anyone know who Harriet Christian actually is? There’s no record of any campaign contributions at OpenSecrets.org and in the FOX interview (FOX is famous for their defense of Democrats, aren’t they?) posted at Larry’s blog, she’s not identified as being with any campaign or local Democratic party. So, who exactly is she again? Just the most obnoxious, made-for-teevee Hillary ‘supporter’ at the meeting last weekend?

Larry’s blog has been overrun with wingnuts pretending to be Democrats. Democrats don’t sit around whining about being the victims of reverse racism – that’s almost exclusively a manifestation of wingnut paranoia.

It looks like Larry (or someone) is taking down comments that mock them, also. What a bunch of thin-skinned ninnies?

I get why loyalists would want to cling to this meme. I get why we feel strongly enough about our country and our candidates that we will insult our freinds, brothers and countrymen. What I don’t get is if this tape was for sale on Liberty Church’e website, and we assume some people bought it, Where are all of the public copies? Someone at that church could make a quick buck off of it. Or, having hacked the purchase records, breaking and entering is not unheard of in presidential politics. For a DVD to be shot, edited, authored, produced, manufactured and marketed, more than a few peopl must be involved. We aren’t talking about the kind of people that assasinated JFK, just regular folk. If the church had it, they still do. If so, the Obama campaign knows exactly what is on it. So do many other people. Some one of those people, IMHO, would be pro- or anti- Obama enough to make it public, or have it re-edited and make the revision public. I just don’t get why the only evidence of the content is a blogger saying he knows 5 people that know someone that saw it.

I discovered Larry Johnson’s underhanded bullshit rumor on Saturday and as someone who had respected him during the Plame thing, was just floored at what the blog had become.
