This Spitting In Shoes, This Peeing In Cokes*

Pam Atlas has been writing about the Merkaz Harav terrorist attack. The Jerusalem Post reported that three right-wing activists were arrested on their way to the gunman’s family’s house, when they refused a police order to disperse.

The Disgrace of Israel

Disgraceful indeed. It is enough to make you vomit. The edit slant of the Jerusalem Post is disgusting as well – calling these moral righteous Jews “right wing activists”. These righteous Jews were arrested? ARRESTED?

And what’s with “gunman”? How about Arab terrorist? How about jihadi?

We have no problem with the last part. It was a thoroughly disgraceful crime, and whether the terrorist gunman was a ‘jihadi’ or just an evil extremist, the results were the same.

Alas for simple narratives, though, because earlier that day, Pam went to a Merkaz Harav demonstration at the Israeli Consulate in New York, along with some of the non-right-wing-activists she hangs out with:

kahane.jpg
Above: One of her photos from the rally

Um.

Because, hold on one second here: Meir Kahane’s party, Kach, and the Kahane Chai (Kahane Lives) organization are on the US State Department’s list of Foreign Terrorist Organizations, and have been outlawed in Israel since 1994, after a New York Kahane supporter massacred 29 people at the Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron.

We’re just pointing this out as a nota bene. After all, among other things, Pam might need to exercise her freedom of air travel at some unspecified point in the future.

Bonus Pammage: Why not mass-murder the Palestinians? It worked great with the savage redskins. (Original here.)

What’s strange is that she didn’t automatically translate “right wing activists” into “righteous warriors defending our western civilization”…

In Pam’s world, murder is okay if you’re Jewish.

ZOMG, Islahomofascists have slanted the edit of the Jerusalem Post to persecute Righteous Bitchin Jews!

US State Department’s list of Foreign Terrorist Organizations, and were outlawed in Israel in 1994

Well obviously the S.D. and Israel are in on the plot too!?!?

Betya half a dollar.

I’ve known a few people with paranoid type mental illnesses and shit like this makes me think Juggling Atlass is one life changing event away from analyzing the shoe colour of every third person she sees. “Orange, brown, aquamarine, mauve….”

All Pam craziness all the time!

She has an earlier post about a guy saying calling for mass murder of Palestinians (he would never use the word ‘genocide’) and needless to say, she approves.

What’s amazing in that in that guy’s comments a debate rages between the people who think that ordinary Palestinians are the moral equivalent of Nazis and the people who say, “Hey now, the Nazis were barbarous murderers, yes, but they were white.”

In your fat bed with your ducks…

[fixed the link]

“This sort of thing wouldn’t have happened in any civilized country. Even in Jordan, they didn’t allow the terrorist’s uncle to have a mourning tent.”

Yes, in civilized countries like Jordan.

This fellow is clearly an anti-Semite, slanging Israel’s government like this.

Nasty name stealing in the Sgt. Furry thread (see the comments 21:13 and 21:14, for example). Thanks.

Ok, sure, I mean, it makes good reading (I personally always enjoy the Pammycakes posts much more than, say, the LoLcAts), but come on now. None among us is actually SHOCKED, or even a little surprised that Pammy is OUTRAGED that someone might arrest some righteous jews for attempting to do harm to a terrorists family.

If she ever said anything reasonable, or even slightly compassionate, well THAT might be a surprise, but this?

Not, as they say, so much…

Okay, I think what we need to do is sit down, and have a rational, level-headed discussion, and really break down the subtle nuances of this dichotomy.

Highly religious zealot group A intent on murder and destruction: Good!

Highly religious zealot group B intent on murder and destruction: Nuke the fucking raghead dogs.

There. Doesn’t feel better to work something through?
Thanks, pammy!

What’s so nasty about “gbear”‘? Well sure, it is in your face offensive to all those christan supremacists, worse than locking them up in labor camps, but aside from that?

So what’s the state of Pammy’s murder investigation? Have they officially ruled her out yet? I’m kind of assuming that, at some point, she’ll say it was okay for her to kill that guy because he might’ve been brown…

I just want to say that revenge-killing is not okay in Judaism. People who live in a perpetually state of perceived siege can disagree, so long as they submit to examination of the head.

Thanks J-. I think we rode him out.

Never Again..unless it’s to the Palestinians.

by the way, g stands for garden. always has.

Billy Connolly tells a *much* funnier version of that joke involving rival fans at a soccer match. The punchline is “as long as they’re shitting in our shoes and we’re pissing in their Bovril.” The way he does the setup is hysterical.

Nothing’s nasty about gbear. The nastiness is trying to put words in his mouth. See the real gbear at 21:26.

Nothing seems to have come up about the murder investigations. The fraud investigation is apparently yielding results.

The fake gbear comments are deleted, btw. I asked the name-stealer to please stop leaving them.

I was riffing on the recent “homosexuals insulting our religion is worse than genocide” thread. You see? Okay, so it wasn’t very good.

J-

(Jumping threads)

Good call about Primus.

I was a little hazy during that period, as I was at the time ensconced at the paragon of liberal virtue, Fairhaven College.

Thankyou Gavin.

I’m not gbear, simply g. Hi, gbear!

The idea that the Jerusalem Post (former prop. Conrad Black) has an anti-Israel bias is hilarious.

Pam could be onto something. Next time a high-school kid has a “Top of the world Ma” moment and shoots umpteen classmates as well as himself, activists could march on his family’s house and burn it down, in a display of righteous morality.

Sorry, PeeJ, I missed it. These things make me all serious and angry and tone deaf.

Here is some classy commentary from some of the folks that Pammy luvs so much:

http://haaretz.com/hasen/spages/962767.html

Note that Lieberman (no relation to Joe) was born in Russia, and he is addressing this to Arab-Israeli parliamentarians who were born in Israel.

These things make me all serious and angry and tone deaf.

Primus advocacy explained.

Righteous Bubba sucks!

Say that aloud and make “Bubba sucks” one word. Righteous Bubbasucks! It just sounds so….right! Stress on first syllable of “Bubbasucks” I’m gonna be muttering it all day now.

No offense RB, it’s the latent poet in me.

By that metric, we all sUxxOrs!!!

I blame all this gratuitous bubbabashing on Randall Byrd.

Wait, has this terrorist been, I dunno, convicted? Because as reprehensible as it would be to murder a terrorist’s *family*, it would actually manage to be even worse to kill the family of a guy who was wrongly arrested for terrorism. Though I can certainly understand why one of the drooling queen weasels of the right would feel they’re fair game anyway.

In Pam’s world, murder is okay if you’re Jewish.

And if the victim is Muslim (or at least suspiciously swarthy), then murder is not only OK but necessary for the very survival of the human species!

Holy shit. I just read the Whole Thing at Right Wing News. In her quote Pamela leaves off Hawkins’ final paragraph, in which he advocates genocide so long as it’s done in a way that isn’t clearly and explicitly systematic. And he wonders why he and his blogger friends can’t get big media gigs.

I’m sort of in awe of the Hawkins piece. How to do it justice?

toby:

I was a little hazy during that period, as I was at the time ensconced at the paragon of liberal virtue, Fairhaven College.

I too am a DubDubYew grad, though not a Fairhaveh College student. B’ham in my time was home to many of the DFHs from the great post-SF-summer-of-love diaspora and to which I ascribe much of my own DFHness and love of frisbee and hackey sack.

Though the last time I played hackey with my son and his friends I was laid up for days. Sux getting old.

I’m sort of in awe of the Hawkins piece. How to do it justice?

It stands to reason that if you exterminate the brutes only the nice people are left.

Hackey Sack was the DFH dog whistle at Western. I was there (roughly) from ’92-’99. Right smack in the middle of the PC movement.

And since I originally hail from Kansas, the DFH chicks had a field day with me. Until I grew a beard, long hair, and started supplying them with, uh, party favors. They forgot all about my Midwesterner ways at that point.

Where is the Hawkins link?

I’m sort of in awe of the Hawkins piece. How to do it justice?

Dude, you’d know better than I. It certainly is very impressive in the most negative sense. Boa sorte!

Where is the Hawkins link?

It’s the one called “Original here.”

I’m in particular awe of this paragraph:

The Palestinians are the most sickening, revolting group of people on earth. They’re actually more loathsome than even the Nazis were because the Palestinian people have all their evil impulses, but they’re considerably less industrious and less civilized.

I always thought that a reason that the Nazis were voted “most likely to be cheered while being mowed down by machine gun fire in a movie” was ’cause they took the classic pogrom and industrialized the process. I’m trying to picture the people who worked at Treblinka and calling them civilized

Spanx again, J-

It’s also curious that the characteristics for which the Nazis were judged to be loathesome was because they decided that another group of people were sickening, revolting, neither industrious or civilized.

Whats his name certainly goes beyond the self-justifying “we kill them only because they’re trying to kill us.”

On the other hand, their strategy of massacring our enemies was one that has been used throughout the ages and it has been proven, time and time again, to work

Think of how much better the world would be if England had adopted this policy in the 1700’s…

CS Lewis: this is the Connolly routine you mean.

The idea that the Jerusalem Post (former prop. Conrad Black) has an anti-Israel bias is hilarious.

Well, if the New York Times can be anti-American and the Wall Street Journal can be anti-capitalist, then why not? These are the same folks who accuse sitting US Senators of hating the US.

The shit. When you added that bonus, I thought it was a joke. No that she was advocating genocide verbatim.

Excuse me while I go scrub my brain…

His Grace, absolutely spot on on the industrialized comments But, I disagree with Mikey: I am still shocked and sickened that such statements can appear in what is rapidly becoming the mainstream of rightwing discourse in the US. And, I have to say, I am proud not to be American. That your countrymen, without censure, can express sentiments that wouldn’t be tolerated by even the most extreme fringes in Europe .. or, goddammit, the majority of the Middle East, should make you ashamed. I’m not usually so riled, but I’m sorry. I’ve just come back from dinner with a couple of Palestinian mates, and the idea that someone who has never met them can pass judgment and advocate their fucking deaths has really really upset me. I think I’m calling time on my trawling of wingnut sites, and even Sadly No, as no amount of well written snark can sweeten the bitterness these people exude.

It’s not funny anymore.

Oh yeah Lew? Just think how WE feel! Keeerist amighty, we have to breathe the same fucking air as them. AGHAGRAGRZAGRHZ

It’s not funny anymore.

It never was.

After so many years, we either grind our teeth to the nubs or we turn it into outrageous jokes. It was never funny, but when you’re in a graveyard (or creating one), whistling keeps up the morale.

The big boys over at Moses Wine’s place are having the same tuff guy realization:

http://www.rogerlsimon.com/mt-archives/2008/03/what_would_you.php

Left unsaid, if you nuke Gaza, wouldn’t it, you know, kill half the folks in Israel too? In addition to cosmic irony, someone should clue these Clausewitzs in basic geography.

wow, i mean wow. i clicked on the “bonus pammage” link and i actually feel sick at the repugnant racism that i just read….no wonder there isn’t peace and we can’t tolerate each other: too many ignorant assholes spewing forth grabage like that. and they call us liberals fascist! haaha!

I’ve been reading “Mistakes were Made (but not by me)”. One paragraph could have been written with Hawkins in mind:

In the same way, if we have enslaved members of another group, deprived them of decent educations or jobs, kept them from encroaching on our professional turfs, or denied them their human rights, then we evoke prejudices about them to justify our actions. By convincing ourselves that they are unworthy, unteachable, incompetent, inherently math-challenged, immoral, sinful, stupid, or even subhuman, we avoid feeling guilty or unethical about how we threat them. And we certainly avoid feeling that we are prejudiced.

Aren’t we reading too much into this? Weren’t those guys just going over to the alleged terrorist’s family’s house to root through the garbage and see what the kitchen counters are made of?

On the other hand, their strategy of massacring our enemies was one that has been used throughout the ages and it has been proven, time and time again, to work — and it certainly worked for us.

— John Hawkins on Why Israel Should Exterminate the Way Too-Violent and Hateful Brutes.

Where the fuck do you go from here? Seriously. The Palestinians are worst than Hitler because they’re violent, evil and inefficient — but our policies of massacring our enemies is THE winning strategy.

Beyond contemptible.

Smiling Mortician

No disagreement here, Susan of Texas. Just trying to point out that the Pams of the world have never been funny. But it’s good to remember that the best humor is always born of anger.

Smiling Mortician, no criticism intended. Sometimes it really is all too much, and I’m often an angry snarker too.

Well duuh, Jay B.

WE are efficient. So it’s all okay you see?

Blech. I’m not witty enough to make make with the snark about something like this. The fact that people like Crazy Pam and rock stupid, fat ass, cowardly, wannabe fascist boot licking toad Hawkins aren’t ignominiously tossed out on their asses by their fellow conservatives for saying such completely deranged things in that movements name is a disgrace. Just how degenerate does a right winger have to be considered an embarrassment to the modern conservative movement anyway?

That is, we would be efficient if we were efficient. Which we’re not. But we KNOW HOW to be efficient, and if we actually did such things we’d be the very model of modern efficiency.

The first commandment of St. Ronnie–never criticize a fellow conservative—unless there’s a book deal in it.

I’ve been to Auschwitz/Birkenau. They became somewhat effiicient at the end. But even then, they just couldn’t seem to kill people with real efficiency. Have to shuffle them over here, go through the motions of “getting a shower”, shovel them out,….

It’s a very strange thing to stand there and think about such things. I couldn’t help it. There was this whole apparatus supposedly intended to maximize the ease of genocide but it just wasn’t fucking efficient at all. After a while I realized that the place wasn’t designed for efficiency. It wasn’t planned by engineers. It was planned and designed by pyschopaths to maximize the JOY of KILLING. Actual lethal efficacy didn’t matter, it was all about the process.

Sorry, I just felt the need to say all that.

Susan (of Texas) said:

After so many years, we either grind our teeth to the nubs or we turn it into outrageous jokes. It was never funny, but when you’re in a graveyard (or creating one), whistling keeps up the morale.

Awesome. Spot on. Sorry if you can’t understand those words through my stubby teeth.

Jeezus. I mean, there’s nothing more to say about these people.

Once you’re asking “Why don’t we nuclearise Mecca?”, you basically have set sail from reason and will never see its shore again.

PeeJ. Thanks for that.

It’s actually good to vacation in hell. Visit the place where humanity takes off it’s mask and reveals it’s true nature.

I have stood in the stubbly weeds in the harsh, smoky morning after men spent sixteen hours tearing at one another. It is a special, magical place. The mortars and gunfire ringing in your ears. The bodies being laid out. The moans of the wounded, waiting for evac, and the ripped but not yet dead still in the wire. Eyes stinging, you load a couple magazines and slowly stand. Somebody hands you a canteen cup of coffee. Hot and watery, it’s a delight. You go get a darvon from the FAC and a cigarette from the sergeant. Stretch, and begin to look around you. Everywhere is a horror. A pile of entrails here, a boot with a foot sitting peacefully there, an unexploded grenade just lying on the berm. Every now and then a shot, ending a young life already wrecked beyond any more living. And some press, in clean, fresh fatigues, happy, sharp, well fed and earnest, wanting to talk. They head over to towards the hole on your left. You hear an M16 bolt slam home and you go intercept them before it gets weird.

It’s a place you hate, and love, and hold in your heart. One of the things you struggle with is goddam it, can you begin to understand, it was one of the best moments of a life lived hard and broken.

Dammit. Part of me wants nothing more than to go back to those mornings. The joy of being alive, and the bond you could feel from 75 meters away with just a look and a wave. Hell isn’t always the worst place you can be…

mikey

See, that’s the thing of it Mikey, the shear intensity of the feelings of war and suvival is why humans keep doing it. The intellectual brain can decry it, make up all kinds of reasons why not to do it (or to actually do the opposite, as Hawkins is advocating), but the limbic brain gets a charge from it that is more than primal; it is the core of the drive for survival. Can humanity ever get beyond that?

There it is.

If you’ve ever felt alone, isolated, mocked, hated.

Hold the line. Don’t give. Fight hard, and kill people without quarter, without reason, without care. Fight them. Drive them back. Do NOT let them through your part of the perimeter. Take whatever horror, whatever insult, whatever wound, do whatever you need to do, the kind of close in killing they put people away for, kill them with your rifle, your pistol, your knife, grenades, your helmet, do NOT give, do NOT run, stand fast, hold the line.

And tomorrow? You will be welcomed to a quiet little party. One thousands of years old. The end of the battle. The time when you can rise up. Maintain your weapons. Embrace your fellows. Eat. Drink. Drug. Look around. Discover how small it all looks. You fought that hard over a piece of ground the size of your back yard growing up. No why. It’s over, and you’re alive.

That’s a special moment…

mikey

late to this party, but there is a point that needs to be made, when do the right wingers cross the line. As i mentioned with Steyn getting his ass sued in Canada, we do have to define where the line is. With all due respect to free speech, and all that, Pammycakes and her fellow travelers have crossed the line here. If some wingnut goes hunting Muslims, or Muslim looking folk, then old Pammy should see the inside of a jail for a few years. Fuck her, and the sick eliminatioinist boat she came in on.

The US has a firm, well-entrenched concept of free speech. Any other country that does really has nothing to say unless someone’s *specifically* advocating genocide, or actively spurring on hate crimes. (That is, the moment someone commits a hate crime and can name them as an inspiration, they’re an accomplice by default.)

That is the ugliest price there is on freedom of speech. But it’s worth saying that in countries *without* that tradition – the Commonwealth, for instance, which affords freedom of conscience but has specific jurisdiction over expression – it’s the most moral thing in the world to tear the shit out of people like this for doing this kind of horrible bullshit.

It’s acceptable for Germany to ban the swastika. It’s unacceptable for us to do so – and we’re all the poorer for it.

On the plus side, the sad thing is that these people are usually a lot closer to power than we are. So we’re a lot more likely to see people hauled into jail for saying we had 9/11 coming (kinda true) than, say, calling for the death of all Muslims.

The obvious difference being that Ward Churchill never wanted anyone killed.

“Well, if the New York Times can be anti-American and the Wall Street Journal can be anti-capitalist, then why not? These are the same folks who accuse sitting US Senators of hating the US.”

True, but until recently the Jerusalem Post was the most pro-Likud paper in the world. It’s changed a bit since Black fell afoul of his investors and the law, but it’s still far more Likudnik than, say, Haaretz or even Maariv.

“Bonus Pammage: Why not mass-murder the Palestinians? It worked great with the savage redskins.”

What, now we’re Palestinians? This will come as a big shock to the archaeologists who thought we were the Lost Tribe of Israel.
