Shorter Cap’n Ed

Today’s DBD Cartoon

cpac-cpt-ed-746879.jpg

  • Calling Barack Obama a Nazi is all well and good, but bringing his wife into it crosses the line a tad.

‘Shorter’ concept created by Daniel Davies and perfected by Elton Beard.

UPDATE: Ed’s readers are providing us with the comedic jewels we’ve come to expect from Greater Wingnuttia:

No, Obama doesn’t plan to single out one group for mass extermination the way Hitler did the Jews. But he does have to have a scapegoat – as well as a means of financing his programs. Thus, he plans to further demonize, regulate, punish and tax both the most successful of American businesses as well as the most successful individuals, the high income taxpayers.

No, Obama doesn’t plan to launch a war against neighboring countries. But this apparent pacifism is only a superficial difference versus the militancy of the Nazis. Obama doesn’t have to launch a war against other countries – he has the world’s largest economy to loot to pay for his socialistic schemes. So Obama’s war will be an internal war – a war against America’s most productive individuals.

So other than the whole mass-extermination and country-invading stuff, Barack Obama IS TOO the second coming of Adolf Hitler!

How did these people hold onto power for as long as they did?

Also:

Those little Nazi groups make a lot of noise and wield little power. The Democrats make a lot of noise and wield a lot of power.

Which group do I fear the most? Answer: The Democrats.

As a registered Democrat, I officially scare this person more than Nazi skinheads do.

That’s pretty damn awesome on my part.

UPDATE II: OK, this is THE ABSOLUTE BEST:

The flaw is in your thinking that violent white supremacists groups are fascist in ideology.

You don’t say.

OT, but thought it would be something everyone at SadlyNo! would want to read: a takedown of the Pantload via Harpers.org

Dude… I don’t care what she said. Not cool.

If you’re gonna be a racist prick about it, just come out and own it. Stand up and say you don’t want the ni**er to be President and get it over with. Sure, it’s okay if it’s Morgan Freeman, but not in real life, right, Muir?
Talkin’ to you to, Taylor Marsh.
Asshole.

The fact is, Barrack Osama Hussein is a Liberal Fascist. A brilliant political scholer recently wrote a book about how you liberals are actually the real facists.

High Income Taxpayer, The Jew Of Liberal Nazism

What?

Thorlac the Fromago-fascist

A brilliant political scholer recently wrote a book about how you liberals are actually the real facists.

Yes, and The Editors are doing very well because of it, too.

A brilliant political scholer recently wrote a book about how you liberals are actually the real facists.

I swear to God, I thought he said “schooner”. I think I would be impressed if a sailboat wrote anything, let alone a whole book.

Also, there’s more going on in this cartoon than just the second panel. For seven years, we have heard the Left compare George Bush to Adolf Hitler. I find the sudden outrage over Chris Muir’s deliberate poking of this impulse more than just a little hypocritical. Try googling “Bushitler” to see the point of Muir’s satire here today.

We are such hitleocrites! There is no justification for comparing the propagandist, uber-nationalist, aggressive-war-mongering, shredder of the democratic principles in the Constitution with Nazi politics. For god’s sake, Obama’s wife wants us to join the *Peace Corps!*

Dipshit Captain Ed is failing to understand Goodwin’s Law in the exact same comical, sad way Miur did.

Thus, he plans to further demonize, regulate, punish and tax both the most successful of American businesses as well as the most successful individuals, the high income taxpayers.

Republicans: More taxes for the poor! Let it never be said we never gave them anything!

Fake Gary, guys.

Call me a pinko commie class-warrior, but are the rich really America’s most productive individuals? What does a trust-fund baby who’s income comes mainly from “investments” actually produce?

Those comments are all from guys living in 30 year old trailers and existing on the Roosevelt teat of Social Security. Wonders will never cease.
I applaud their concern for the wealthy folks that would call the cops if they ever showed up at their club.

Tim (the Other One)

I’m about to go demonize a laundromat.

Heh. Special Ed thinks Muir’s lame strip is provocative.

Ed, I’m only distressed over the lousy art and complete lack of teh funnay. I wasn’t offended in the slightest.

Oh, sure, it’s okay to make fun of Michelle Obama and compare her to the Nazis but if you question whether Cindy McCain is too brain damaged to withstand the rigors of being First Lady, the wingnuts go ballistic.

This situation is just so unfair. Cindy McCain can’t string more than a few words together at any one time and that’s only if she practices saying them first. She says nothing of substance, leaving the Dems high and dry.

What does a trust-fund baby who’s income comes mainly from “investments” actually produce?

Waste?

What’s that thing in the lower-right corner of the Klan photo, like a miniature phone-box? Is that the fabled Retardis?

Its crudeness and superficiality suggest that Goldberg simply doesn’t understand most of the thinkers he is characterizing—indeed, his descriptions are as primitive and confused when they deal with figures on the left as on the right. The work proceeds with the confidence and artistry of a solid B- undergraduate term paper in a political philosophy class. Not the sort of thing one would expect to find published as a book.

Heh. Indeed.

No, if you want to make fun of Bush-Hitler comparisons, here’s how you do it:
“Hitler liked dogs.
Bush owns two Scottish terriers.
Therefore Hitler=Bush!”
Oh wait, that’s the reasoning behind the book “Liberal Fascism”, isn’t it?

But this apparent pacifism is only a superficial difference versus the militancy of the Nazis.

Not wanting to imprison and kill Jews(and gays, and gypsies, and communists…), not wanting to annex neighboring countries for more “living room”, not wanting to put a stop to “degenerate art”, not holding the homeland above all else and all others, et cetera ad infinitum, these are mere superficial differences, but a wife giving a “get involved” pep talk to college students is the new Triumph des Willens.

5 of Diamonds, both Peace Corps and Freikorps have Corps in them this is is someway central to my point. As a whole what does it mean that LGF crap makes more sense than what Cap. Ed’s readers are spouting, seriously, I can get how death and pain can make someone angry and irrational and racist ( I don’t approve but i makes sense on a lizard brain level) but this Democrats=Equal fascism stuff is seriously 1984 Peace is War delusional bullshit, it doesn’t make any logical sense.

“Hitler liked dogs.
Bush owns two Scottish terriers.
Therefore Hitler=Bush!”
Oh wait, that’s the reasoning behind the book “Liberal Fascism”, isn’t it?

More like:

“Hitler liked dogs.
Clinton owned a cat!
Therefore liberals = Nazis.”

Your reasoning, unfortunately, actually follows a false syllogism. Goldberg’s were just bad thoughts.

a schooner is a sailboat!

Muir should consider himself lucky that comic strip characters can’t sue.

And Ye Olde Cap’n must have really had to struggle to write this:

When dealing with government promises of Utopia, I consider cynicism very, very valuable — and history has proven me correct.

Indeed, so valuable that doesn’t want to use any of it. Captain crEDulous.

Guess they like their Nazi’s pre-stuffed over there if the guy at the podium is any clue.

What’s that thing in the lower-right corner of the Klan photo, like a miniature phone-box? Is that the fabled Retardis?

ROTFL!

For seven years, we have heard the Left compare George Bush to Adolf Hitler. I find the sudden outrage over Chris Muir’s deliberate poking of this impulse more than just a little hypocritical.

Hey Ed,

your Fucking president started a war for no reason except his ego and is ordering the systematic detention and torture of muslims all in the name of God and Freedom and Profit.

HE IS FASCIST, you stupid, self-serving, terrified fucking bigot!

North Dakota is for PUSSIES

Chris Cagle is making the same error every right wing ‘artist’ does; they confuse straight ahead political statements for jokes. Who really laughs at that? I’ve tried reading the amateur inklings of Day by Day, and it’s just not funny at all. It’s as lame as a Dennis Miller show, or that infamous trainwreck Fox News tried, the 1/2 hour news hour

Not
That
Funny

North Dakota is for PUSSIES

Chris Muir, Cagle cartoons, yea yea, something like that

North Dakota is for PUSSIES

Wow, I fancied some comments from Special Ed’s crowd, talk about some stupid fucking idiots.

Here’s a real gem:

When I saw the Houston crowd chanting “Yes, we can”, the first thing that came to my mind was “Sieg, Heil!”

Ah of course a democratic presidential campaign with enthusiastic followers brings to mind one of the greatest mass murderers in history.

They weren’t chanting Yes we can kill the Jews, were they?

Stupid fucking morons, but they are just bitter knowing McCranky will get slaughtered come November and their pissant party, which was supposed to last for 1000 years, was reduced to less than twenty…

Call me a pinko commie class-warrior, but are the rich really America’s most productive individuals? What does a trust-fund baby who’s income comes mainly from “investments” actually produce?

Paris Hilton. She does more work before 10 am then we lazy middle-class louts do in a day!

So Obama’s war will be an internal war – a war against America’s most productive individuals.
In the original version of Casablanca, the Victor Laszlo was supposed to be a wealthy tax evader, pursued by Internal Revenue agents, but Hollywood liberals insisted on changing the script to make him into a Resistance leader.
Incidentally, if this inspires anyone to remake Army of Shadows but with valiant tax evaders (rather than the French Resistance) continuing their struggle in the face of despair, then I shall expect a conceptual credit.

Those stupid fucks. Don’t they know that the correct translation for Seig, Heil is Four More Years!

I’m about to go demonize a laundromat.

Dude! If you’re going to the one over on Jefferson, don’t bother with the third dryer on the left. It’s already fuckin’ haunted. Keeps trying to give me socks and concert t-shirts that I’ve never seen before.

I’m so glad you got a chance to use that picture again. Never fails to crack me up!

As if that ragtag band of losers would qualify for Hitler’s ranks. Hell, they’d be on the first freight out.

UPDATE II: OK, this is THE ABSOLUTE BEST:

I don’t know, I really liked the fellow, several comments later who expanded on that comment by saying, in essence “ur so dumb they is Nazis not facists.”

I’ve managed to bring up Fear of a Black Hat and Mallrats within a day.

Damn, I feel good.

Hey, you want to hear a good joke? Teh funny, this one is:

Permanent Republican majority

Don’t wet yourselves laughing.

I think “scholer” is a great word for the Pantload, given this definition for the root.

Fake Gary is a wordplayer to rival Ogden Nash.

The self-described “intellectual” right-wing is in a fookin’ meltdown. It’d be pathetic, if the victims did not so richly deserve it.

These clown car drivers are all worked up over a *rhetorical phrase*. Did these people ever sit in on a black gospel church sermon? (um, don’t bother to answer that…) Listen to Martin Luther King Jr. Everything is couched in imperatives. It’s a speaking style found in all evangelical church sermons, black or white. These smart guys should check out how their Xtian base makes speeches. Oh wait, neo-cons don’t like the Jesus-wheezers anymore, since they had the audacity to vote for one of their own and not get with the neo-con program like they were supposed to.

My rock-ribbed, WWII vet, Republican dad always told me “Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.” (Dad had great respect for Kennedy after the Cuban Missile Crisis). To him, that was the core tenet of patriotism. Ms. Obama called for the same thing. Even some people over there in the comments brought that one up.

Ed’s just retreating into the warm embrace of Doublethink. He knows his neo-com world is a washed-up, hypocritical failure of epic proportions, but unlike John Cole, he refuses to take the red pill.

“I mean, do I *look* like the kind o’ mo’fucka who would wanna KILL A WHOLE LOTTA WHITE PEOPLE!?!”

Be sure to hit the audio button. the m-w online can provide hours of fun with that audio button.

It can for sure. It’s why I don’t go there much, at least not while I’m supposed to be working.

The definitions are my favorites, though. It was really bad when I had free access to the OED online. Etymology FTW, as the kids today do say.

Dude! If you’re going to the one over on Jefferson, don’t bother with the third dryer on the left. It’s already fuckin’ haunted. Keeps trying to give me socks and concert t-shirts that I’ve never seen before.

You know, I used to have that problem. Then I figured out that you have to take your clothes out of the same dryer that you put them into. Machines are kind of dumb when you think about it.

The next thread where we discuss following Supreme Commander Obama X against the white people.

Yeah, I think I missed that one. But yo…we got some hats now, muhfuckas!

I hear you. Who could have predicted that you need separate washing machines to handle laundry and dishes?
I still maintain that it was a perfectly reasonable mistake to make.

Smiling Mortician

Um. Is that Nazi-Klan pic for real? ‘Cause I’m not sure I could have made it funnier if I’d posed it entirely of assorted goof-off friends . . .

"Oh Stewardess, I Speak 'Nut"

Translated, what the ‘Nuts are saying is, “As things now stand, everything we’ve cheered for during the last sixteen years is about to be thoroughly repudiated by the American people this November. It looks like not even electronic “voting” and a partisan secretary of state or two will be able to save us this time. As things now stand.”

We are the ones who should be worried. These morons are not going to climb back into Retardis and return to their caves on Planet Wingnut without a fight. For America’s sake, I hope Obama has the very best security money can buy.

In Loving Memory of RFK

Jesus.

“Thus, he plans to further demonize, regulate, punish and tax both the most successful of American businesses as well as the most successful individuals, the high income taxpayers.”

Everything with these dumbshits has to resemble the plot of Atlas Fucking Shrugged, don’t it?

I mean, what the FUCK?

MUIR HAS THE ANSWER!

Poorly-drawn, bizarre-looking breasts are the secrets to a Republican comeback in ’08!

Uh, I think Muir is just a juvenile smart-ass who wanted an excuse to draw a woman in a Nazi uniform for his own self-stimulation.

I loved this comment in the same thread from someone named “quickjustice”:

“Giving people medical care is exactly the same as murdering them”. Actually if you were a Jew or a gypsy in Hitler’s Germany, it was.

And placing doctors under control of the government makes it possible to turn them into killers by government-imposed rationing, if not by gas chamber.

Right, as if hospitals today will treat you if you can’t pay them back.

“Michelle Obama in her own words” and then completely misquoting her.
Notice Muir misspelled “uninformed”?

“Unt uniformed.”

Good to see Muir’s right-wing christian characters just happen to have Nazi flags and uniforms laying around.
Midriff exposing Nazi uniforms at that.

Welcome to the next 4 to 8 years of our lives.

Oh yeah, almost forgot.

Chris Muir is a talentless cockbite.

Joe Max brings it up, and there are other too numerous quotes I could use, but basically – the right wing is doing some serious pearl-clutching about Obama’s call to service – delivered in the rhetorical style of black churchs and the conceptual style of Kennedy – because, for them, the height of service to their country is putting ribbon magnets on their cars, wearing flag lapel pins, and going shopping. It’s what their leaders have asked of them, so they balk at anything further.

“As a registered Democrat, I officially scare this person more than Nazi skinheads do.”

I know. And if you are an atheist too, you scare them EVEN MORE. Sort’a makes you feel proud, doesn’t it? You’re right up there with Leatherface and Jack Nicholson from The Shining.

…for them, the height of service to their country is putting ribbon magnets on their cars, wearing flag lapel pins, and going shopping.

You’re right! It reminds me of how, when the 110th Congress started, the one Republican congress-critter wailed that the Democrats HATE FAMILIEEES! because they were going to have to work five days a week instead of three.

Oh my fucking god. I want to grab just one of those freakshows over there pretending with all their might that anything MICHELLE OBAMA said could have made them piss their pants, and sit them down and make them tell me what, EXACTLY, they think Obama is going to DO to them if they fail to become motivated and informed. What they fuck are you “afraid” of? What do you think she’s threatening you with? Do you think she’s going to put you in jail? What is she going to do to ensure that you comply with these “demands” which your insane narcissism leads you to believe were requirements made of you personally, and could not possibly be anything else? Goddamn imbeciles.

You know what? No. They aren’t that stupid, NOBODY is that stupid. Spent the last six years talking death to traitors, cheering on wars, the suspension of citizens’ legal rights, torture, and the government spying on its citizens and Michelle fucking Obama uses a rhetorical device and they’re twisting their hankies and screaming “fascist!” and getting “shivers”? Lying, phony, disingenuous assholes. It pisses me off to no end that these people know exactly what she said and exactly how she meant it and they’re going to commit themselves to being hysterical anyway. If they spent an ounce of the energy worrying over the actual violation of actual rights as they do faking abject terror over nonsensical fantasies of future conservative persecution, we would still have habeus corpus.

Clutching their pearls and squealing is ALL they know. ..

Just perfect – from the introduction to the Harper’s piece:

“When I use a word,” Humpty Dumpty said in rather a scornful tone, “it means just what I choose it to mean — neither more nor less.”

“The question is,” said Alice, “whether you can make words mean so many different things.”

“The question is,” said Humpty Dumpty, “which is to be master— that’s all.”

–Lewis Carroll, Through the Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found There, ch. 6 (1871)

It’s almost as if JLoad read this passage as a wee lad and thought, “Oh my God – this guy Humpty is my frickin’ ideological hero.”

(“And a fine-lookin’ figure of a man, to boot.”)

How odd-no link on JLoad’s site to the review. Jonah has an interesting viewpoint on reviews. A review is good if it praises him, stupid and wrong and incomprehensible if it doesn’t. He’s crowing about being Number 2 (on Amazon), an unwise move from someone nick-named Pantload.

Any implication that Democrats are dangerous authoritarians who plan to send their political opponents to work camps should be read in the light of the Fundamental Principle of Republican Projection.

His book was around #40 and falling fast about a week and a half ago. He must have begged someone at Regency to buy a million copies, only to be dumped at $1 each by summer.
