I Should Get Paid for This Too…

So David Ignatius thinks he has a novel idea in today’s column: he thinks that the Democrats should be running as the party of “accountability and reform.” *sigh* Let’s just cut to the shorter version…

Shorter David Ignatius: I’m getting paid to say things that people in the blogosphere have been saying for months… and they’re not even getting paid for it! Suckaz.

Even shorter David Ignatius: Why write when you can cut’n’paste?

What annoyed me about that column was this passage:

If they win the House of Representatives, will the Democrats embark on a two-year binge of investigations and score-settling? Or will they get serious about solving the country’s problems?

How can he see these as contradictory activities? This is pure GOP spin. Typical Ignatius.

I should get paid for drinking beer too.

And sleeping. I’m really good at sleeping.

The best part is his only concrete advice is to stop being so partisan when we win. Cause ya know, every time Dems do something bipartisan, the Repugs respond so well!

Granted, Foley’s scandal is going to leave the front page soon, especially with the possible terrorist attack on that Chemical plant in North Carolina.

New name for David: Ignoramus.

Oh, Gary, I suppose past results are no guarantee of future performance, but have you ever been right about anything?

…especially with the possible terrorist attack on that Chemical plant in North Carolina.

Uh-oh! Will Eric Rudolph’s kin Deliverance up the elections to the GOP?

And Nancy Pelosi wants to try and steamroll a bunch of legislation though the house, with no oversight or time to read the content of the bills, in just 4 days. If her and her extremist Dems win the House.

She also pledges massive tax increases.

She’s gonna be sorely mistaken, because she just blew Democratic momentum. Now the stories will be about how she wants to raise taxes and force her will on America.

Plus, the Dems will have no mandate for governing because they will only win due to Foley’s scandal. Therefore, the GOP will make sure that they, along with sensible Democrats, will block all of Pelosi’s San Francisco Agenda.

Good for Nancy! Get some tax increases on the fat cat rich muthafuggers. Stupid SOBs don’t pay shit for all they got from America. Fuck the rich.

Gary, you stupid troll, next time you’re driving on a rutted piece of crap road with load-restricted bridges you can thank your lucky stars that you work for a CEO won’t pay much in taxes on that 16% pay raise while the local police, fire departments & courts cut staff. Then when you get home you can contemplate how you’re going to stretch your measly pay.

And if you have info on an impending attack in NC maybe you should report it to the authorities.

Why should people pay a higher percentage because they’re successful?

The fact is that a “progressive” income tax is robbing the successful members of society. When in fact, you can gain a lot more from a national sales tax, or from a flat tax.

Explain to me the logic of taxing work-based income at a higher rate than wealth-based income, and not taxing the underlying wealth at all.

We would pay the good people of Sadly, No!…

If we could afford it. We are Democrats after all.

And Nancy Pelosi wants to try and steamroll a bunch of legislation though the house, with no oversight or time to read the content of the bills, in just 4 days.

Four days is generous, compared to what the GOP has done in the past 7 years. The WATB should quit their whining and get over the election already.

(I’m trying to practice my wingnut gloat. Gary, how am I doing?)

Y’know, Gary, and you can pass this on to all your fellow trolls at the Society for the Preservation of Mediocrity luncheon, but out here in the world us real people are not afraid of Nancy Pelosi, nor do we believe any of your artificial demonizing of her or the west coast, which is also part of America. Nancy Pelosi is a strong, honest Democratic politician with integrity – Oh! I see why the Republican party is afraid of her. But as voters and taxpayers, those are qualities we deserve and will continue to push for in our representatives in Washington. So bite me…

Hi tigrismus! I think I can help.

Take the death tax, for instance. When we tax estates that have already been taxed, for instance by the parents of Paris Hilton, or Richard Mellon-Scaife, we disincent these individuals to inherit those estates. What if Paris shrugged? Just think of all those jobs that would be lost at People magazine, E!, etc.

Similarly, suppose Richard Mellon-Scaife had been so discouraged by the estate tax that he declined to inherit his share of the Mellon empire. Who would have been around to fund the Whitewater into Monica-gate scandal? That entire industry would have been lost to us. And think of all the wingnuts who would be out on the streets, deprived of the only jobs they are capable of filling. And there is all the ancillary damage: all those people who wouldn’t be productively employed at Frito-Lay.

Now of course, any tax is going to be on income that was already taxed. Many times. For instance, if you work at a bagel shop, the money your employer pays you was taxed when he earned it. But that doesn’t count, because it doesn’t have a catchy slogan like death tax. And Richard Mellon-Scaife, Rupert Murdoch, the Coors family, etc. don’t really care about people who work in bagel shops.

So you see, Gary is right. The estate tax is an assault on the work ethic.

No, no, I’m with Gary here. I think we should tax the shit out of the unsuccessful. That’ll teach ’em not to be born into poor families next time.

I should get paid for not screwing that post up, with no preview button. Look ma, no hands!

fabbo ~ I’ve worked with people who actually espoused that idea. One of them called me a communist because I was against creepy Steve Forbes’ retarded flat tax.

The estate tax is an assault on the work ethic.

Hmm, so bein’ born rich *is* hard work, maybe even harder work than hard work is… sing hallelujah brothers and sisters, I’ve seen the light!

Ah, Steve Forbes. Was it ever fully established whether he was a cyborg or just a lizard alien in disguise? Capitalist tool, indeed.

And the flat tax is a good reason to disallow him or his cronies from ever getting involved in politics again. If we tax everyone the same, then I insist that a loaf of bread should cost a poor man two cents, and a rich man the entire defense budget of Pakistan.

Republican Jesus

For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath. (Matt 13:12)

Gary, you have a progressive tax if you care about middle america. You have a flat tax if you care about millionaires.

Man, the same old playbook – (INSERT Democratic candidate) is Too Liberal for Mainstream America, he/she will Raise Your Taxes.

Every damn campaign.

Look, if,
in a capitalist society, self-interest is good,
and,
in a democratic society, the will of the majority is likely to be the best course,
then,
if the majority of the people aren’t rich, it is both in their self-interest and the best course to tax the shit out of the rich minority.

If the rich don’t want to be taxed so much, then maybe they oughtta work on making the average citizen more wealthy instead of trying to push everyone who isn’t super wealthy into poverty.

I see Gary’s possible terrorist attack chemical plant was fined $32,000 in March by the N.C. Department of Natural Resources for six violations, like “storing a container of hazardous waste beside an incompatible one and for not clearly marking containers to identify their contents.” Of course, it’s highly likely Apex, North Carolina is a terrorist hot zone, but I think we have to admit there’s a slight possibility that their carelessness with hazardous waste caught up with them.

What can you say? Gary would rather steal money from people who work for a living and give it to people who are wealthy for a living.

Workers should be punished for not being wealthy – that’s true conservative policy.

No, no tigrismus. If something catches on fire or blows up or crashes and it makes the national news, to Gary, who’s terrified of litteraly everything, it MUST be a terrorist attack. He really wishes they were more common, ’cause if they were we could kill lots more muslims…

mikey

The Democrats wouldn’t know accountability or responsibility if it bit them in the ass. I should get paid for saying that.

Well, Mikey, it is true that Muslims hate boiled peanuts, and will do anything to destroy the boiled peanut crusader culture, even if it means burning innocent chemicals in the process. Thank God for clear-sighted heroes like Gary!

I should be paid for posting on this site.

Or paid not to post, perhaps.

I see Shoelimpy/annieangel is out of rehab. O frabjous day!

I hear it takes an average of eight tries in rehab before it’s successful, Gentlewoman.

she just blew Democratic momentum

so you admit the Dems have momentum, Gary? I thought that “the American public will know that Foley was trapped by a hoax and that its all the fault of the Dems, blah blah blah.”

Smiling Mortician

Oh, Kathleen, that’s so twenty minutes ago. Gary has also beegun substituting “granted” for “the fact is,” perhaps to facilitate the scorekeeping in his begging the question tournament (I hear he’s going to the finals).

What I truly love about idiots like Gary is the way they gobble up the coswollop provided to them by the extremely rich, especially the bull about the estate tax hitting money that was “already taxed.” The vast majority of estates subject to significant tax consist primarily of appreciated assets, and the increased value has not in fact been previously taxed. The wealthy counting on, and receiving, the support of the terminally stupid.

The fact is that the Democrats don’t have momentum, only the lack there of. Similarly, the Republicans never aren’t lacking momentum and as the Foley Scandal shows, it is a win-win situation for them. If the leadership resigns due to their cover-up of a sex abuser, the Republicans will have fresh New Leadership, while the Democrats will only have Tired Old Pelosi, who as we keep saying, is simply too far out of the mainstream to really govern America. If the Leadership remains in place, the Republican Party will demonstrate its resolve to persevere under difficult circumstances.

To go even further, A Pelosi controled House Actually benefits Republicans, because it will show America how truly dangerous the Democrats are when it comes to power.

I should have been paid for being forced to endure FIVE YEARS of living (dying slowly?) in North Carolina (Fort Bragg).

…and no, military pay isn’t sufficient.

I didn’t win no medals…But I liked to shoot the guns

Friend of mine just told me this one …

Why don’t Republicans use bookmarks?

They just bend the pages over.

Why don’t Democrats smoke cigars?

Cuz the cigars are all up inside Monica Lewinsky.

Nope. Not gonna…

mikey

mikey,
No sense in it, really.

Don’t like that one?

Why did the Democrat bomb Iraq?

Cuz he lost his cigar in Monica Lewinsky. 🙂

What is the difference between Mark Foley and Gerry Studs?

Gerry Studds actually had sex with a page but was a Democrat so everything was fine and he got elected to five more terms.

He likes it! Hey Mikey!

Latest polling shows that Republicans are TOTALLY winning on this Foley issue:

Denny, stay right where you are. Don’t let the libs get you down, man. We’re here for you, brother.

What, did the methadone clinic let you three idiots out at the same time today or what?

Ah, Steve Forbes. Was it ever fully established whether he was a cyborg or just a lizard alien in disguise? Capitalist tool, indeed.

Steve Forbes is the male Nicole Richie — someone who insists he should be famous because he’s the spawn of someone who actually *succeeded* in becoming famous. You may not approve of either Lionel Richie’s or Malcolm Forbes’ work, but at least you knew why they were all over the pages of People, or Forbes, magazine.

George Dubya is the male Paris Hilton (and, yeah, I know Radar magazine beat me to that one). He’s never actually done anything that wasn’t a low-level felony, but his handlers have managed to parley his genetic inheritance into an actual “career” of Being-famous-for-being-famous.

And America is the twenty-first-century Roman Empire, because we’re actually having a discussion about the celebrity of individuals whose greatest achievement came on the day they were born.

I should be paid for posting on this site.

Does ‘limpy take that big of a cut for pimping you?

I have to agree with this–

Denny, stay right where you are. Don’t let the libs get you down, man. We’re here for you, brother.

Yes, Denny. Yes, yes, YES!! Stay right there!! Stay right there until November 7!! Baby!!!

I tried to post a response to annieangel and her friend, but when I hit the Submit Comment button, I got this message:

That’s why we can’t be too mean to Gary. Otherwise, we’re stuck with trolls even the 99 cent store wouldn’t carry.

I would like to apologize to all those I have hurt.

I just get so… excited, by the prospect of having the sweaty wrestler to kick around for the next month.

And… I’m addicted to vanilla (you know, the really good kind from Mexico.)

And… I had a traumatic childhood. So you can see why it’s not my fault at all.

I’m seeking treatment immediately.

See? I should be paid, I’m so damned popular!!! Maybe I could sell ad space in my comments….hmmmm…..

Cuz he lost his cigar in Monica Lewinsky.

*Funny not found* (Abort/Retry/Ignore?)

Such is the brand of humor that gave us Prickly City and Mallard Fillmore.

Automated Tedious Troll Engagement Warning System – I like it!

What is the difference between Mark Foley and Gerry Studs?

Mark Foley broke the child predator law that he passed while working for the no-sex-especially-if-you’re-a-fag party.

Hey! how did we get from Mark foley to Malcom Forbes without stating the obvious?

Let us now praise honorable trolls.

Despite the grief he gets for his eloquent regurgitation of GOP talking points, Gary, to his credit, keeps his poise and does not get personal with the commenters. I salute you, Gary, for you are truly a troll of honor.

Why did the chicken cross the road?

Because Clinton left his cigar in Monica.

(Eww, that brings up a weird mental image involving chickens and vaginas)

at a wingnuts house:

“Who’s there?”

“Bill Clinton’s penis.”
