Why The Editors Still Rulz

He’s lazy and he doesn’t blog often enough, but The Editors always makes up for small quantity with high quality:

Joe himself is now calling himself an “independent Democratâ€? – which I think is something like an “agnostic Baptistâ€? – presumably in order to glom off some of that Lyndon LaRouche mojo. Watch your back, Queenie!

El. Oh. El.

They certainly do. Their HTML works a bit better.

Two more exceptional lines in a thoroughly great post:

Joe Leiberman lost because he was a Joetard and everybody was sick of his shit.

and

The big loser here is, of course, George W. Bush, who lost his beard when Joe lost his party.

Yup.

And name – checkin’ Lyndon LaRouche! Now THAT was a righteous looney. I miss the old bastard. Guess he’s dead by now, but last I heard he had to go to prison for something. This was the dood who genuinely thought (ya gotta respect, now) that the Queen of England was the kingpin of the global Heroin trade. They don’t make entertainment like that anymore. Here’s one on me. To Lyndon and all the Birchers of yesterday. If ya went t’heaven, yer drivin’ gawd out of his everlovin, but bless ye…

Lieberman should realize that the Taliban Democrats have excommunicated him from the party. They have no place in their radical fringe party for any candidate who supports protecting America.

Although Lieberman does do a great service to Democracy by running as an Independent. He gives Connecticut an actual choice. Instead of an election between a little known Republican and a far-left Democrat.

Moderates will have a choice in this election. Instead of sitting out because the Republican is unknown and Lamont is more liberal than Ted Kennedy.

Wha??? Gary! You didn’t make a prediction! Get back here right now, young man, and give us a percentage by which Lieberman will demolish Lamont in the November general. Don’t go soft on us now, Gary, we’ve invested a lot in you and we want to see you be the best wingnut troll you can be. So what will it be, Gare? Lieberman 96%-4%? Give us the word, bay bee…

The fact is that Gary’s intense posting of late reveals the cold sweat trickling down the backs of wingnuts as they contemplate tjhe November elections.

Also, The Editors are a bunch of LOSERS!!!11111…hell, the dude posts maybe every two weeks, and half the tiime the post is a damn YouTube video. Get to work, you lazy motherfucker!

Taliban democrats? You calling us that because we want to ban abortion, keep girls out of schools, stone gay people, or make people pray five times a day?

‘Cause I just can’t see it.

mikey, LOL! I think I love you.

What the hell is this with right-wing nutjobs drooling over Lieberman and stiffing Schlesinger (Repub nominee)? Okay, I get that they love Lieberman because he goes along with all the neocon stuff (Democon? Neodem?) But Mehlman–the chair of Schlesinger’s own party–won’t even endorse him!

I guess they figure a Rethug can’t win such a blue state, so they’re hoping to draw enough rightie votes to Lieberman to get him a win.

By the way, which edition of the Garybot are we on now? All of a sudden, he’s actually responding to comments, and that last one didn’t include a single “the fact is . . . .” I’m guessing this is Garybot Part Trois or even Quatre, peut-etre.

Hehehe. Gary is to politics as Pollock is to expressionistic art.

The Kossacks are the Taliban Democrats.

They swear devotion to a failed and ancient idealogy.

The fact is that they wish to purge everyone from the Democrat Party who disagrees with them on any issue.

The fact is that the extreme leftist, elitist, empty-suit known as Ned Lamont felt the heat of THE TRUTH and he fled to Maine to try and avoid the truth about how his victory emboldened Al-Qaeda.

The DailyKos is the controlling power of the Democrat party. They get their leaders like DNC Chairman Dean and Clueless Moonbat Nancy Pelosi to dance for them.

The Democrats won’t win either House in November, because Americans know that they can’t trust the Senate to a corrupt maniac like Harry Reid and Americans know that they can’t trust the House to a scatterbrained socialist like Nancy Pelosi.

I swear devotion to an ancient idea. But I feel logy…

mikey

This acient idealogy you speak of, does it involve sacrificies and ritualist orgies?
I’m totally down with those. Maybe I can sign up…

Anyways, you just keep sprinkling the fairy dust and thinking happy thoughts, Peter. I’m sure Neverland is just a corner-turn away.

This has to be an AWESOME parody of a totally insane wingnut.

The fact is that Karl Rove’s hand is up my ass right now.

Possibly. I see him more as those videos of things getting shot, like a apple, in super-high speed, so you can watch the carnage and destruction dance out in it’s symphonic ballet.
The trick to fully enjoying a Ruppert post is to remove yourself from the context of the moment, and simply enjoy the brief, beautiful glimpse into chaos.

Being drunk or stoned might help. Or drunk AND stoned.

In a way, it is amazing that America came within a week of experiencing the deaths of at least 4,000 people, and the left doesn’t seem to realize that the threat from terrorists is real.

The left remains unapologetic about voting for people who would cut and run from the War on Terror front in Iraq.

They’re more concerned about a minimum wage increase than the War on Terror. They have a stronger desire to get rid of Bush than to get rid of Bin Laden.

Huh. I think Ruppert’s just got the same problem I’ve got: He finds The Editors mad sexy, but doesn’t know how to say it.

I know the pain, Gary. I know the pain. Come sit by me. Let’s talk this thing out together.

Woof. Gary has finally completely jumped the rails. The train wreck metaphor has never been quite so apt.

I’m waiting with bated breath for the “precious bodily fluids” rant.

How have I jumped any rails?

The fact of the matter is that the left is wrong on the War on Terror.

The Terrorist Surveillence Program is also responsible for preventing the deaths of 4,000 people. The TSP intercepted calls between terrorists, leading to arrests and a prevention of terrorism.

What would you rather have?

a) no terrorist surveillence program and thousands of dead people

or

b) a terrorist surveillence program and lots of terrorists taken off of the streets

I dunno about you all, but I stand firmly behind Lamont’s “Free AK-47s, ammo, and C-4 for Terrorists and their Sympathizers” legislation.
If we don’t arm our foes, who will?

On a slightly more serious note, teh Liquid Boomies Plot was stopped by British counter-intel peeps and law enforcement. That’s the kinda anti-terror steps the left wants, Garfield, not “invade random Muslim countries, and THUROUGHLY piss off millions of potential new killers.”
http://www.thepoorman.net/2006/08/11/getting-serious-about-terror/ Thusly.

Wow. Gary, can I have some of what you’re smoking?

Failed and anicent idoleogy???? Like what, maybe Atlantis or something? Or Druids? Kewl!!! Pass the mistletoe, baby!

The fact is that America and our Terrorist Surveillence program are responsible for roping all the terrorists together as demons in the same plot, allowing for the Brits to swiftly arrest them.

Also, I hope that a sequel to “Bush was right” comes out soon.

Also, I’m fairly certain more people die of cancer in a week than any of these terrorist attacks manage.

Why are the Republicans less than serious in protecting America from cancer?

You can’t arrest cancer and it’s allies and stop cancer from occuring.

Patkin, did you eat paintchips when you were a kid?

Probaly, Patkin. Though it is probably more like per bi-annual, then daily. I would venture that monthly auto accidents kill the most.

Gary, you wanna try that last post again? Only, this time, add… cohension? I think you seem to be implying that the US set this up and Briton just had to do the take down. Also, somehting abotu bondage and a safeword, I’m not sure.
Looks like this was all on Briton and Pakistan. I dunno, maybe you know something i don. Not likely, but I’m willing to play with the notion that it’s possible.

Again, I get personally insulted by Gary Ruppert!

That’s twice now, for those of you playing at home.

And I would note that you can’t arrest terror, that as cancer and terror are both conceptual ideas that there are no such things as “allies of terror”, and that one cannot stop terror from occuring, as you and yours, Gare Bear, make so clear when for all your blustering and commitment to murdering whoever makes you piss yourself in fear, you’re still in absolute terror.

Whereas I, who is unafraid. In fact, barely even conscious of the fact that “The War on Terror” is still underway the vast majority of the time, only have to deal with the ocassional fear-mongering blared through the media talking heads to terrify the nation about stuff that’s already done with and can’t be helped.

And as for paintchips, no, I didn’t engage in that old lead candy taste test. I was much like your hero Jeff d’Goldstein, in that I ate paste as a young lad.

I got better though.

Garybot, this is what I was referring to:

“The DailyKos is the controlling power of the Democrat party. They get their leaders like DNC Chairman Dean and Clueless Moonbat Nancy Pelosi to dance for them.”

You’ve always been divorced from reality, but now you’re starting to verge into serious-paranoid-fantasy-land. If you’d ever read DailyKos, you’d know that it’s like a big bunch of friends sitting around yakking; every once in a while somebody passes around a picture of the kids and occasionally an argument gets heated and somebody storms out (shortly to return). If you look at the comments, you’ll see there’s no WAY those folks could get together to hatch any kind of conspiracy; they hardly agree on anything beyond basic progressive principles.

As for Markos himself, please. Exactly what sort of power does he have to control anybody? If he’s so powerful, why is he so frequently disappointed in what the Dems are doing? And you seem to have forgotten the wingnut talking point that “no candidate Kos ever backed has ever won anything.” It’s not true, of course, but that’s the meme that’s been going around.

By the way, very interesting post today from Mrs. Robinson on David Neiwert’s blog: http://dneiwert.blogspot.com

She’s discussing John Dean’s new book. Here is the list of characteristics she gives of authoritarian followers:

Both men and women
Highly religious
Moderate to little education
Trust untrustworthy authorities
Prejudiced (particularly against homosexuals, women, and followers of religions other than their own)
Mean-spirited
Narrow-minded
Intolerant
Bullying
Zealous
Dogmatic
Uncritical toward chosen authority
Hypocritical
Inconsistent and contradictory
Prone to panic easily
Highly self-righteous
Moralistic
Strict disciplinarian
Severely punitive
Demands loyalty and returns it
Little self-awareness
Usually politically conservative/Republican

Hmmm. “Little self-awareness,” huh? Like, say, somebody who claims to be straight, but who says gay sex is so great it’s addictive? “Uncritical of chosen authority,” “dogmatic,” “inconsistent and contradictory”? Anybody you know like that?

I wish I could find this funny. The Editors = Penny Arcade for computer-humping types who manage the feat of looking up from their monitor occasionally. You’re better than this, S,N!

“Independent Democrat?” WTF is is with the Dems? Can’t we file a WIPO suit or something?

You can’t arrest cancer and it’s allies and stop cancer from occuring.

May I introduce you to America’s tobacco industry, Gary? And perhaps a grammatical guide.

The fact of the matter is that the left is wrong on the War on Terror.

The invasion of Iraq did not stop terrorists from plotting further terror against America.

The free use of the American military has not prevented a single terror plot; rather, all the plots currently foiled have been avoided by the use of police techniques and good intelligence work.

There has still not been a terror plot uncovered that does not involve a majority of either Saudis or Pakistanis – both of which George Bush has declared our allies in the ‘war on terror’

George Bush has failed to secure our ports, our borders, and our airplanes.

He has also failed to kill or capture the head of Al-Qaeda, the architect of 9/11.

And Democrats predicted all of this before 2003, and were mocked for it by Republicans.

It must really tick off your paymasters that in every single aspect of the ‘war on terror, they’ve been wrong and Democrats have been proven correct – in how to fight it and who to fight.

You’re the Charlie Brown of Global Antiterrorism efforts, and Osama and company STILL have the ball as you freefall back down to Earth blaming the Democrat off panel for allowing you to attempt to kick a field goal in your diseased fantasies of the glory you never grabbed the first time.

So now you’re all AAAAANGRY. Grow the fuck up.

They’re more concerned about a minimum wage increase than the War on Terror. They have a stronger desire to get rid of Bush than to get rid of Bin Laden.
Could it be because minimum wage is about real money and real people while the War on Terra (TM) is a propaganda stunt?
Could it be because Bush has damaged America in more ways and to a larger extent than Bin Laden could ever hope to do it himself?
I guess not.

Also, I hope that a sequel to “Bush was right comes out soon.

Me too. I haven’t laughed that hard in a long, long time.

And Gary, it’s spelled “ideology” and “Democratic Party.” Let’s work on the spelling for a while, and then we’ll move onto the bigger concepts, like how the American TSP had nothing to do with the British police catching these guys.

What would you rather have?

a) no terrorist surveillence program and thousands of dead people

or

b) a terrorist surveillence program and lots of terrorists taken off of the streets

All hail Gary, the king of false dichotomies!

I think Gary may be unaware of two salien facts: (1) British surveillance was the primary reason the plot was foiled; and (2) the British program required court warrants for any surveillance.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/08/10/AR2006081001654.html?sub=AR

http://www.tnr.com/blog/theplank?pid=30857

The fact is that Gary doesn’t care about the war on terror except to the extent it can be used to bash Democrats.

Can someone explain to me how — if we evil left-wing Democrats are engaged in a massive Talibanish purge of all warmongers from our ranks — we totally forgot to provide a similar Lamont-al-Qaeda challenger to Maria Cantwell in Washington, or Hillary Clinton in New York, or Ben Nelson in Nebraska, or Bill Nelson in Florida, or any of the other moderate Democrats who voted for Operation Awesome Kickass?

I mean, if it’s a purge, we sure spaced out on a lot of the people we should’ve purged.

“In a way, it is amazing that America came within a week of experiencing the deaths of at least 4,000 people, and the left doesn’t seem to realize that the threat from terrorists is real.”

Gary, Iraqi’s are people too, not to mention nearly 3,000 US servicemembers.

please, sit down.

“In a way, it is amazing that America came within a week of experiencing the deaths of at least 4,000 people, and the left doesn’t seem to realize that the threat from terrorists is real.

Y’know, it’s a beautiful late – summer saturday morning and I was just gonna ignore Gary’s rantings, especially in light of the fact that you guys have it completely covered, but this is crazy. Setting aside a body count of 4000 for 9 planes (possible, but a very high estimate), we actually did NOT come within a week of anything. The brits were all over this op like a cheap suit and have already said they could shut it down whenver they wanted. The reason for the actual timing of their rolling up this outfit is still unclear, but nobody was in any danger of being blown up at any time. And this is how you deal with people who would use political violence. Infiltration, intelligence gathering and LEGAL surveillance. It’s really no different than rolling up a group planning a large robbery. There are people who know how to do it, and do it well. You’ll notice, if you look, than none of them are driving a tank, manning an artillery piece or fliying a fighter bomber…

Mikey, well said, as always. I’m glad you put in a few minutes before going out to enjoy the day.

They swear devotion to a failed and ancient idealogy.

Gary’s just jealous that the dark lord likes us more than him.

Gary, 800 people died on our highways last week. Change your underwear and get with the program.

What would you rather have?

a) a country of anarchy ruled by violent gangs where the gasoline stores are dwindling

or

b) a fascist dictatorship enforced by the military with no judicial oversight or legislative input

Because there’s certainly nothing in between.

I dunno about you, cowalker, but I’m pre-ordering my wrist-mounted crossbow this weekend.

Making an appointment to get my two-toned mohawk and stocking up on shoulder pads . . . .

I dunno about you, cowalker, but I’m pre-ordering my wrist-mounted crossbow this weekend.

Kind of early in the process for that. Remember there’s still plenty of live 12 guage rounds in circulation. Better start with something a little heavier…

How have I jumped any rails?

Gary, you’ve been so far off the rails since we’ve known you that your caboose only has passing knowledge of what its like to roll on tracks at all.

The fact of the matter is that the left is wrong on the War on Terror.

The fact is, Gare, that your facts have absolutely no supporting information; based on successful, you know, results, Republicans are so far wrong on battling terror that they are actually making things worse, based on analysis by military experts and the CIA- you know, people who actually have working knowledge of terrorism, and not loopy rightwing cheeto-enthusiasts from LGF.

The Terrorist Surveillence Program is also responsible for preventing the deaths of 4,000 people. The TSP intercepted calls between terrorists, leading to arrests and a prevention of terrorism.

as someone else pointed out, it wasn’t 4000 people, it wasn’t TSP who did the majority of the work , it was British police efforts, and it was done using standard procedures, including wiretapping doen after obtaining proper warrants, unlike the eavesdropping that is nearest to Dear Leader’s heart

What would you rather have?

a) no terrorist surveillence program and thousands of dead people

or

b) a terrorist surveillence program and lots of terrorists taken off of the streets

False dichotomy ( look it up), Ruppertia. There is no one seriously saying there should be no surveillance of terrorists; but rather that it has to be done within the Law. You know, the thing that ostensibly Bush and other Republicans swore to uphold.

Just on the off chance it might actually shock you back into reality, Gary, it is worth remmebering that for several months after assuming the White House, member after member of Clinton’s administration went out of their way to warn their Bushite counterparts about the serious character of Al-Qaida and teroorism in general, to wholly deaf ears. All of the former Bash officials report that the attitude was, if Clinton did it, we won’t. The result? 9/11. THE FACT IS, Gary, that the largest foreign attack on US Soil in the last century happened on George W. Bush’s watch, and while Republicans controlled Congress.

Smiling Mortician

The fact of the matter is that the left is wrong on the War on Terror.

Gary, I’m going to assume for the sake of argument (aside: argument is a good thing, a thing you should learn about) that you are sincere in your postings. Based on that assumption, I need to point out to you that the sentence above, which you posted, is entirely nonsensical. Please note that I am not disagreeing with it at this point; I’m saying it’s utterly devoid of significance. It is meaningless because “the left is wrong” is a claim (an opinion). Actually, it’s a claim of value (an opinion that evaluates or judges something). It is not a fact. An opinion is distinguished from a fact in a very identifiable way: facts can be empirically observed and proven to be accurate (or true) using accepted standards. A statement like “the former commander of U.S. forces in Europe has stated categorically that the war in Iraq is a disaster” is a fact. See, we can observe the evidence (who was that former commander? did he really say that?) and then evaluate it (well, what does a military commander really know about war anyway?) and then we accept it as a piece of evidence. What’s the value of evidence, you may ask? Well, it’s used to support (strengthen, validate, bolster) those claims (or opinions) that you keep referring to as facts.

Here are a couple of exercises to test your new argumentation skills. Try to figure out which of the following statements is a claim and which is a fact:

1. The primary source of wood is trees.
2. Trees are evil.

I really hope this helps.
