“It Was Terrible! People Could Have Died!!
Send Us Money!!!”

Oh this is rich:

Democrats assailed the Republicans Friday for e-mailing a fundraising appeal mentioning the war on terror hours after British authorities disclosed they had disrupted a plot to blow up aircraft headed to the United States.

“In the middle of a war on terror, we need to remain focused on furthering Republican ideas more than ever before,” former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani said in a letter that asked for donations to the Republican National Committee.

“There is no task more important after a thwarted terror attack than giving Paris Hilton a tax cut.”

The RNC blamed a low-level staffer for distributing the fundraising appeal, which the party said had been scheduled for release before news of the plot broke.

Aaaaaah, the low-level staffer explanation. It makes you wonder why any organization employs low-level staffers in the first place when they inevitably make such unseemly and embarassing errors.

“Once the RNC learned of this error we ceased distribution of the e-mail,” said Tracey Schmitt, a party spokeswoman.

Schmitt added, “But if you received the e-mail, please consider making a donation of $50, $100, $250 or $500…”

Democrats didn’t accept the explanation.

You would hope not, since accepting that explanation requires you to be one of the stupidest people on the face of the earth.

“The defeat of the London plot is a warning that we should redouble our efforts to defeat terrorism. It shouldn’t be used as a political defibrillator by Republicans on electoral life support,” said Phil Singer, a spokesman for the Senate Democrats’ campaign committee.

Heeeeey! That’s a well-crafted message! Nice work, Senate Dems!

(And look, AdNags! Singer didn’t even request to go off the record before making his statement! Take a note, you loser!)

Ok, forget minions, I gotta get me some low – level staffers. Then I won’t be responsible for anything. ‘Course, in order to have low – level staffers I guess I’d have to have some high – level staffers, in order to, you know, differentiate them. But y’know, unlike minions, I’d expect staffers would expect to be paid.

Hmm, maybe I need to rethink this whole thing…

mikey

mikey- you don’t have to pay them much. GOP low-level staffers probably work for free copies of the WEEKLY STANDARD.

Still no video…

Whatever happened to friday flash?

Allright which one of you photoshopped a Hitler moustache onto Santorum’s face! That’s just downright intolera…

What?

You didn’t? It just looks like that naturally?

Oh..hell, sorry.

a political defibrillator by Republicans on electoral life support

heh. awesome.

low-level staffers probably work for free copies of the WEEKLY STANDARD.

and Hannity blow-up dolls.

ok. that crossed the line.

…And the possiblity that they will be given the honor of shaving Cheney’s back. Clippings of that tangled mess have magical properties, you know. Three of those ground up in a White Russian created the stain on Monica’s dress, doncha know…

Paul Krugman has a decent column today. David Brooks sux every time he put pen to paper (so to speak).

Why do they pay him?

and Hannity blow-up dolls.

ok. that crossed the line.

ew. yes indeed it did.

and really, would we expect anything different from the RNC?

Gotta say, the Dems need more “low level staffers.”

That’s what the GOP gets for outsourcing its staffers overseas.

Why do they pay him?

Who says they do? I’d imagine he’s got a whole basement full of Weekly Standard back issues wrapped in twine, from when he used to work there.

The whole point of having low-level staffers is to have someone around to blame when you act like a dumbass. I suspect the person responsible for this one was the second assistant secretary to the scapegoat.

He’s really an embarassment. I wonder why no one ever fires him.

You mean there’s a real one?

(Ow, I poked myself in the eye on that last rimshot.)

Good news only tangentially related to this thread:

The NYT has a survey up that seems designed to bolster the administration’s claims of protecting us against all the scaries. The question:

Do you think the U.S. is more vulnerable after hearing news of a plot using liquids as bombs?

But . . . hey . . . instead of the expected ‘Hold me, Mr. President!” responses, the overwhelming majority of commenters are having none of it. Instead they’re pointing out things that are supportably true, like, umm, police work is probably more effective than unprovoked war in thwarting terrorist plots and if we’re more vulnerable it’s a direct consequence of BushCheneyRummyRove policies.

I know it’s not much, but given the crap the NYT prints these days, it’s nice to see (most) readers aren’t buying it.

Hey, at least you didn’t mention the idea of Dick Cheney in a Speedo™ in a post title….

On a side note, I saw an ad for Rep Mark Kennedy (R- MN) who’s running for Senate this year (Dayton’s emptying seat). Nowhere in the ad was the word “Republican” used. In addition, the commercial, which was, admittedly, well done and featured his family members in a kind of goofy way, emphasized his “independent spirit” and mentioned in no small way that “Mark is not a party guy”. I mean, it REALLY emphasized it, which was a bit of a surprise since he won the seat (a very close election) in 2004 by trumpeting his Republicanness. I distinctly recall that in 2004 his ads talked about how great Bush was on “revitalizing the economy with his tax cuts” and keeping Minnesotans safe from dangerous forces. At the time, I thought it was a bad play, considering Minnesota’s fairly blue nature- then again, he was campaigning for a very white, suburban, wealthy district, so… However, I’m guessing and hoping this portends that Minnesota’s change from blue to purple is slowing. Have any other readers seen similar campaign strategies in other states?

That Defeatocrat’s picture should have had the words “Public Enemy #1: Don’t forget who aids and comforts him” with those photos of Dean, Kos, Murtha, and Moore.

It would have angered the soft on terror Democrats, But the fact is that it would be a depiction of the truth. The Democrats have been indirectly aiding Osama with their subversive behavior and their desire to surrender in the War on Terror.

“indirectly aiding” Gary? you are slipping. I thought that the Democrats were directly supporting Al Qaeda.

you are getting soft and defeatist on us now, are you?

It’s not so much a desire as a “hankering”. Also, replace “surrender” with “use methods that actually work”.

Gary, who exactly is “Public Enemy #1” anymore? Do you even know?

ok. that didn’t make a lot of sense. oh well.

OK everybody. Knock off the subversive behavior. You know how it makes Gary crazy. If one more person desires surrender in the war on terror I’m going to stop this car. Don’t think I won’t.

The Democrats have been indirectly aiding Osama with their subversive behavior and their desire to surrender in the War on Terror.

Yep. Ya got me. I would have surrendered a long time ago, but see, I have a small problem. It’s the war on terror, right? Well dammit, just exactly WHO do I surrender to? I can’t find Osama. I tried the Iraqi trick from GW I and surrendered to a journalist downtown a few months ago. But he was writing a feature on Vetrinary Medicine and wouldn’t take me into custody. I wrote a letter to Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in which I explicitly surrendered and asked where to turn myself over to his victorious forces. He responded with a nice letter telling me he is not at war with America and inviting me to convert to Islam.

Honestly, Gary, I’m flummoxed. You’d think it would be easy to surrender, right? I mean, I was in a real war a long time ago and it was never hard for combatants to surrender. It’s kind of making me wonder just what the hell kind of war this War on Terrah is, anyway. If a defeatest, cut-n-run terrorist appeasing lefty can’t even surrender, what’s this world, and this war, coming to?

mikey

Gary, Osama Bin Laden is public enemy no. 1. Remember him?

Gary Ruppert is a low level staffer.

mmmmmmm smell the sweet troll farts wafting from an overexcited Rupportbot exaust port.

Indirectly aid? I’ll have you know, Gary, that 20% of my NPR member renewal pledge goes directly to OBL hisself. Just another perk of being a “friend” of public radio. And did I mention the stainless steel travel mug? Super classy.

Teh: I got the OBL tote bag. Neener!

You would hope not, since accepting that explanation requires you to be one of the stupidest people on the face of the earth.

But, but, but, I head Doug Feith accepts it.

Erk. s/head/heard/, my bad.

See that’s it, he (or she) really gets around because he (or she) keeps getting fired and getting a new job with a new boss in the dynamic growing disinformation economy. Soft hearted Republican bosses will never name the guilty low level staffer who can just claim he quit to become a free-lance pundit and get a new job humiliating another honest soft hearted high level Republican political operative.

The reall purpose of the NSA domestic spying program is to track him (or her or it) down.

[…] Suburban Guerrilla: Lou Dobbs looks at the lies of the 9/11 report. The BushCo. answer? Another round of air security hysteria…but nothing for new homeland explosives dectection tecnology. […]

Do the math.

“The RNC blamed a low-level staffer for distributing the fundraising appeal, which the party said had been scheduled for release before news of the plot broke.”

How do you “cease distribution” of an e-mail? Either it’s been sent or it hasn’t.

“The RNC blamed a low-level staffer for distributing the fundraising appeal, which the party said had been scheduled for release before news of the plot broke.

Sorry about the glitch.
I was just thinking, I hope they gave the guy a promotion,or a Medal of Freedome or something. The RNC is constantly blaming someone for their failed policies.I hope the “fellow Americans” that love freedom so much ifgure out theat Bush and his criminals really want for them.I`m pissed that I can`t even take water on an airplane anymore. The terrorists sure seem to be winning as far as I can see.

I don’t get it. Some dude Photoshopped Democracts… so you Photoshop Republicans in response. So what then? Regardless of who Photoshops who, or which party wins what election, America continues murdering those who inconveniently live near oil?

Bryan, I don’t think many here disagree with your assessment (albeit some thing the murdering quotient lowers under Democratic administrations).

But we either don’t feel like we can do much about it, or we’ve already done all the things we can think of to do about it. So we come here to laugh.

Crying is just so passé at this point.

Some dude Photoshopped Democracts… so you Photoshop Republicans in response
And both were posted at official party sites… Sadly, No!

(BTW, “Ann” Coulter’s Adam’s apple is not photoshopped in.)

Bryan McNett… Some dude Photoshopped Democracts… so you Photoshop Republicans in response.

What an odd coincidence. No, not the Photoshopping.
