Prime Ministerin’ Actually IS Hard Work

Hmmmm:

Tony Blair has caved in to mounting pressure from world leaders and his own Cabinet by delaying the start of his summer holiday to the Caribbean.

Downing Street confirmed the Prime Minister will stay at home for a few more days so he can work on a UN Security Council resolution for a Middle East ceasefire.

A leader who delays his vacation during an international crisis? Why, I’d almost forgotten they existed.

What does Bush actually do when he working? Snooze through a meeting? I mean, I’m sure they got his Crawford pad set up so he can learn that Rice is still doing nothing, but what difference does it make if he’s doing nothing in Crawford or DC?

The only reason he is delaying his holiday is to avoid/delay his “Margaret Thatcher” moment. he is already in deep shit with policeman plod about to knock on his door and the Labour Party might just get its spine back over Lebanon.

The families of the dead soldiers are forming a political party to put up candidates to run against Labour Ministers who supported the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan

At a Downing Street reception not long ago, a guest had the temerity to ask Tony Blair: “How do you sleep at night, knowing that you’ve been responsible for the deaths of 100,000 Iraqis?” The Prime Minister is said to have retorted: “I think you’ll find it’s closer to 50,000.”

The man who was beaten up at the Labour Party conference by stewards has just made it on to the Labour Party National Executive Committee.

Blair is in deep shit and he knows it.

Oh and he didn’t know about the Iranian hostage crisis.

In a recent conversation with Jon Snow of Channel 4 News about the situation in Iran, Snow made some reference to the Iranian hostage crisis, when, after the refusal of the US to hand over the Shah, Iranian extremists besieged the American embassy in Tehran for more than a year. Just remind me what that was all about, was Blair’s response.

All that humaniterian crap you hear from him, well it is just crap.

Before taking office in 1997, Blair travelled light on foreign policy. Saddam Hussein’s chemical gassing of 5,000 Kurds at Halabja in 1988 passed him by: unlike dozens of other MPs, he didn’t bother to sign a motion condemning it.

He also claimed recently that the reason Britain went to war with Germany in 1939 was to stop the extermination of the Jews. He didn’t seem to know that it was to protect Poland and that the Holocaust didn’t start until 1941/2, more than two years after the start of the war.

honestly blowback, given that Israel is apparently consulting the wonks at LGF for policy advice and the american media and political establishment won’t and can’t stop any of it, i’m trying not to be too picky about motives so long as they move toward a cease-fire.

But that is the problem, Blair is only going through the motions. It might look as if he is taking action but he is not.

I am told that the Israelis informed George W Bush in advance of their plans to “destroy” Hezbollah by bombing villages in southern Lebanon. The Americans duly informed the British. So Blair knew. This exposes as a fraud the debate of the past week about calling for a ceasefire. Indeed, one of the reasons why negotiations failed in Rome was British obduracy. This has been a case not of turning a blind eye and failing to halt the onslaught, but of providing active support.

To Blair it is always about the message and never about the substance. He knows that he can’t continue to do nothing so he is looking like he is doing something but still doing nothing. Remember, he was a Fabian and went to a public school and so he would know all about Quintus Fabius Maximus Verrucosus aka Cunctator (The Delayer to non-Latin speakers).

We thought we would take care of the crazies. I’m sorry. We relied on the Democrats.

Blair is just afraid his role in the OJ Simpson case will finally come to light.

“Go sell crazy somewhere else, we’re all stocked up here!” was the first thing that came to mind when I saw The Longest Thread. I thought I’d stumbled on Teh Tom Cruise Personal Philosophy site.

That said, Blair never did seem that bright, did he? Oh, I mean, when Clinton and Blair were working on a peace process for Northern Ireland, I kinda liked him. But after W was elected, wtf? He turns into a militaristic wingnut. Maybe he died, and this is his evil twin?

Ah, yes, but nothin’ stops Dumbya from goin’ on vacation! There’s brush to be cut, damnit! And you all know what happens when lil’ Shrubby spends quality time in Crawford. I wonder what it’ll be this year? 4-mile-wide asteroid? Multiple volcanic eruption? Alien invasion ala Independence Day? Nuclear terrorism? IT IS A MYSTERY!1!

Well, there’s still that earthquake in San Fransisco that needs to happen to fill out that trifecta of “Terrorist attack in New York, Hurricane in New Orleans, Earthquake in San Fransisco” gigantic disasterfuck warnings beign ignored.

Maybe he died, and this is his evil twin?

Nah, this has always been him. He’s just always been good at hiding it.

Speaking of things British, Terry Jones of Monty Python on Armageddon–he’s for it! Though, probably not really.

Why is Jose Chung quoting from a famous Evangelist who hosted a radio show that attacked Jews, atheists and leftists?
