Serious question
If I had told you 15 years ago that Newt Gingrich (!!!) would one day be purged from the conservative movement for not being conservative enough what would you have said? It’d be like hippies booting Wavy Gravy out of Woodstock for being insufficiently gr000oo0vy.
UPDATE: And speaking of crazed reactionaries, TBogg alerts us that Confederate Yankee is a-itchin’ t’ bayonet some hippies:
If our lawmakers abandon the founding principles of this nation, and use their power to obfuscate, deceive, bully and strip basic rights away from the people, then they are forfeit to thesocial contract, even if they have managed to “abide” by the laws they’ve written in support of the state.
Ultimately, laws are only lawful if the govern find them fair and justified. All else is dogma.
And so when power-mad legislatures and executives use direct lies and emotional rhetoric in order to deceive their constituencies in an attempt at tyranny that serves to increase their power while undermining the principles that has enabled this government of the people, for the people and by the people, we owe them no more allegiance.
One may even begin to speculate on whether we owe them civility for their transgressions, which amount to a fundamental betrayal of oursocial contract as Americans.
Unlike other nations and states in times both past and present, we have the possibility of correcting our mistakes and removing the disloyal via the ballot instead of the barrel of a gun.
Let us hope that our elected officials recognize, however, that our patience is not finite, nor our obligation to bear their indecent assault on our liberties unlimited.
I’m struck by how often I’ve read right-wing blog posts that have slowly degenerated into outright murder fantasies. You wonder why they even bother writing long, plausibly deniable justifications for them and don’t just skip to “ME KILL YOU SCUM!!!” and leave it at that.
The fact is, you libs can’t begin to comprehend how massive the conservative comeback will be, starting today. We will re-take New York and Virginia and like I said the Jeff Dunham Show is a huge hit despite protests from the anti-freedom of speech Left.
Sure, Malkin is shrill, but she is also quite pithy.
You could almost say “Shprilthy”
Whoo-hoooo!!! One congressional district that’s always been Republican??!!!! Massive!
Wolverines! Eleventy One!!111
I always thought Wavy Gravy was a narc.
If I had told you 15 years ago that Newt Gingrich (!!!) would one day be purged from the conservative movement for not being conservative enough what would you have said?
“Payback is a motherfucker.”
Gary, Gary, bo-bary,
Banana-fana fo-fary
Fee-fi-mo-ary
Gary!
Oops … wrong thread! (I take a 7-and-a half!!)
Also.
This is exactly the sense in which Newt isn’t conservative: he never bought the stuff he sold to the rubes.
If Ronald Reagan himself came back to run in 2012 he’d be purged for being insufficiently Reaganesque. START totally proved he was Neville Chamberlain in disguise.
I wish these guys really would try armed rebellion. That would be truly spectacular to watch, for the hour or so it would last.
Let us hope that our elected officials recognize, however, that our patience is not finite, nor our obligation to bear their indecent assault on our liberties unlimited.
God damn. He cheerleads EIGHT FUCKING YEARS of “power-mad legislatures and executives us[ing] direct lies and emotional rhetoric in order to deceive their constituencies in an attempt at tyranny that serves to increase their power while undermining the principles that has enabled this government of the people” etc but NOW he’s pissed. I hope Cheney shoots him in his fucking face. Asshole.
Achmed the Dead Terrorist is SATIRE. But I know wingnuts don’t get satire.
And lol to “retaking” New York and Virginia. Off year races do no a retake make.
As Roy Edroso put it, when the apocalypse comes, manly men in the wingnutosphere like Glenn Reynolds will go insane trying to build holodecks out of logs.
As for Cornfed, how many people has he roped into that gun camp scheme of his?
If Ronald Reagan himself came back to run in 2012 he’d be purged for being insufficiently Reaganesque.
He wouldn’t be able to do much anyway because all his headholes would be stuffed full of College Republican dick.
Jeez….abandon the founding principles of this nation….obfuscate, deceive, bully and strip basic rights away ….tyranny that serves to increase their power …fundamental betrayal of our social contract as Americans…..indecent assault on our liberties …..
He’s talking about suspending habeas corpus, lying us into an illegal war, illegal wiretapping of citizens, shadowy mercenary private police forces, rendition, torture, and outing CIA agents?
Oh, sorry. I guess it’s health care reform he’s upset about.
Hyperbole much?
Let us hope that our elected officials recognize, however, that our patience is not finite, nor our obligation to bear their indecent assault on our liberties unlimited.
Is that verbatim from the orginal? Because, if so, somebody’s homeschool failed him on the meaning of “finite”, and its opposite.
Also, it is nice to see the circular firing squad on the other side. Once the People’s Front of Judea gets done purging the untrustworthy elements from the Judean People’s Front, they can work on the real enemy: the Front for the People of Judea.
Spoken like a true Confederate Yankee.
Ahhh, remember the days when we were threatened with death for not being respectful enough of the Commander-in-Chief?
I guess Scozzafava is the latest Dixie Chick?
Man, I bet Cornfed had to stop a couple of times to clean or replace his keyboard and wipe the spittle from his monitor while he typed that out.
I suspect he also had to burn his chair.
“Come on! How can these antisocial, selfish, pig-ignorant, paranoid, spiteful, craven cowards manage to keep together for fifteen years without going full Donner?”
The Honduran coup has got many of them all excited. That other Latin American rightists are considering similar approaches in Paraguay, Nicaragua, and elsewhere, will only serve to make them
thinkfantasize much more excitedly about carrying out a coup and installing the revolutionary Glenn Beck pro-Constitution gubmit of the Confederate Social Contrack.TIDOSY’s FAIL quotient is also not finite.
I wish these guys really would try armed rebellion. That would be truly spectacular to watch, for the hour or so it would last.
An hour?
Eh, I think it would be pretty boring. I imagine something like the first mile of the Boston Marathon, only fatigues instead of running togs, stumbling instead of running, the odor of shit and piss thick in the air while people in the back of the pack continue to trip on discarded helmets, ammo belts, guns and Cheetos bags. The other main difference from the Boston Marathon would be the shrieking, of course.
Hmm. Upon writing that I have changed my mind. I would enjoy watching that.
It’d be like hippies booting Wavy Gravy out of Woodstock for being insufficiently gr000oo0vy.
It would be like Charlie Brown being booted from Peanuts for not being roundheaded enough.
Let us hope that our elected officials recognize, however, that our patience is not finite
Stupid choad.
Well, give Malkin some credit, Newt wasn’t in hospital when she told him it’s over.
I wonder how that would turn out.

There’s the problem, “Jeff.” You KNOW they don’t get it, but you still slab it on.
Also, you suck.
Also.
Whoah tag FAIL.

Hm, I got an idea while reading this:
Maybe we can call Grillboy and Erk Erksson and their ilk “Latent Americans”?
If Ronald Reagan himself came back to run in 2012 he’d be purged for being insufficiently Reaganesque.
Oh hell, you can probably add pretty much every other Republican prior to, well, now, to that list. Lindsey Graham has gotten hooted out of his own town hall. Newt Gingrich, as already noted, is in league with Al Sharpton.
It’s actually kind of funny to watch the GOP establishment deal with what they’ve created. I wonder when Rush will be purged? Don’t laugh, you know it’s coming.
I wonder when Rush will be purged? Don’t laugh, you know it’s coming.
The pigs were the last “animals” on Animal Farm, so I don’t think so.
Let’s try this blockquote thing again.
<pedant hat>Um, no. That’s corruption. Tyrrany, from tyrant, is when someone ascends to Head of Gov’t by extra-legal means, like in 2000</pedant hat>
disinterring pogroms
….
Pogroms? WTF?!?! I don’t remember no pogroms. Did I miss teh pogroms? I shoulda set the TIVO.
They haven’t been disinterred yet. I think we’re still waiting for a court order for the exhumation.
I’d like to see that moron describe exactly what he thinks the social contract IS. I’m sure the resulting stammering about guns and taxes would be hilarious.
What goes around comes around.
I think they already know they’re looking ever more like mentally tweaked-out Moonies smiling & selling roses in an airport lobby – & they just don’t give a shit any more.
The justification for “Operation Leper” was that they lost in 2008 due to insufficient ideological purity (actually asking voters who switched why they did so would’ve been useful last year – if rational strategy wasn’t explicitly verboten under the terms of the GOP’s “Contract Against Reality”) … but now the goal seems to be purity-for-purity’s-sake, & once something like that builds up its own momentum, oneupmanship becomes the order of the day.
Condemning Bush, Steele or Gingrich for being crypto-socialist appeasers may satisfy that purity-monkey on their back today … but what will they do to get their fix tomorrow? How long before they’re turning on Palin or Beck for the arch-heresy of unorthodox badthink?
MOAR PURGEZ PLZ
“It was I, you fools! The man you trusted wasn’t Wavy Gravy at all! [tosses a guitar away] And all this time, I’ve been smoking harmless tobacco.” — C. Montgomery Burns.
Shorter Confederate Douchebag: Let the nut-jobs take over by the ballot box or by the gun – it’s your choice.
wtf is he even talking about?
i tried to watch beck the other day with his charts and blackboard and after about twenty minutes i still had no idea wtf he was talking about. same same.
also they may purge rush but he aint going anywhwere. see nfl for example.

I don’t think Newt’s been purged altogether, just from the “social conservative” Palin side. Personally I’d love him to run in 2012 if for no other reason than seeing the GOP pick two bloated elderly white guys in a row.
Yo yo yo Sadly No it’s da grillmasterizin Bob Owens if ya feels me give me a hells yeah to my char-coal GREEEEEEEEEEEYULLLLLL! Peep this hot rhyme libs:
Well Obama be socializin
And Nancy be terrorizn
But you libs won’t win
Cuz we cons grin
While we teabag all up in yo face
Holla
If they’re going this nuts over an election in a small rural moderate district in an off-year election, 2010 should be like watching them try to juggle flaming chainsaws. That said, I think it’s a gamble to say that liberals should root for people like Hoffman on the basis that once people say how crazy the modern Republican party really is, they’re doomed. The Republican party has excelled for years in their ability to lie to the American voters, make them swallow shit and beg for more. Yes, the days of the Republican victory machine are over, but I’m not in the mood to give them a second chance. That said, I still think Owens will win, and Corzine too. NJ Democrats have a history of getting out the vote on election day, or so I’m told.
Also, shorter Conf. Yankee: “Nice little democracy you got here, hate to see anything happen to it.”
c.f.
We’ve been teabagging since late August and they’re still talking about <dun dun dun> socialized medicine.
“use their power to obfuscate, deceive, bully and strip basic rights away from the people”
I’ve been trying to think up a good joke about republican projection, but I keep coming up dry.
I think it’s a gamble to say that liberals should root for people like Hoffman on the basis that once people say how crazy the modern Republican party really is, they’re doomed.
I quite agree. This is why I want Palin nowhere near the 2012 Republican ticket. Any chance of her getting the office is too much, and the same goes for any other blood-flecked-foamer.
2010 should be like watching them try to juggle flaming chainsaws.
Pretty much. Consider absentee voting if your polling place is anywhere near a bell tower.
I’m against teh Purges for a different reason. It’s not that I’m afeared that America will somehow lose her collective sanity and elect a completely bonkerdoodle whackjob like Palin, but it’s because if the Republican party dies, then you’re left with a one-party system. Teh DLC is already full of jerkoffs and weasels, imagine what’ll happen with an influx of experienced GOP operatives with nowhere else to ply their trade – and no opposition to speak of either.
Political parties in America are like Dark Lords of the Sith.
Always two; never more, never less.
Some people don’t seem to understand the simplest things. Take for instance the tea baggers. They try to evoke the revolutionary by equating their grievances with those of the original tea party. Thing is, taxation without representation != taxation without representation I agree with. You’re represented. Sorry you don’t like it. When more people “think” like you and vote like you, then you’ll be happier. Til then, sorry ’bout your luck. Oh and you can point your finger all you want, but point a gun and see what happens.
These goobers actually think the military will help them overthrow the duly elected government. Who is bringing the popcorn?
Bill Maher:
“I wish these guys really would try armed rebellion. That would be truly spectacular to watch, for the hour or so it would last.”
It might take an hour and a half, given that said Glorious Rebels would have to wait for the Evil Socialist Public Transportation System to come up with enough subways and trains and all.
our patience is not finite
But is it a countable or uncountable infinity?
if the govern find them fair and justified
Not sure what a ‘govern’ is but for the moment I’m imagining it as a kind of large scruffy crow.
they are forfeit to thesocial contract
I suspect that he meant to say ‘four feet’ but Spellcheck corrected it automatically.
Two feet bad, four feet good.
It was I, you fools! The man you trusted wasn’t Wavy Gravy at all! And all this time, I’ve been smoking harmless tobacco!
His faction schemes and plots…disinterring pogroms
Great. Bad enough we had to worry about zombie banks, now we have to look out for Obama’s zombie pogroms.
Aren’t governments supposed to derive their powers from the just consent of the undead, or something?
And so when power-mad legislatures and executives use direct lies and emotional rhetoric in order to deceive their constituencies in an attempt at tyranny that serves to increase their power while undermining the principles that has enabled this government of the people, for the people and by the people, we owe them no more allegiance.
So TIDOS Yankee agreed that we owed the Comanderer in Chief, GW Bush no more allegiance?
Because Cornfidiot Wankee doesn’t mean “me kill you scum.” Killing people involves personal risk.
At best he means “Lookit me! I’m all big n’ brave standin’ up to Obama!” at worst he means “Which one of you brave patriots is going to take 500 bullets from the cops for the team? I’ll be sure to comfort your wife/sister/other attractive female relatives.”
The Bush administration really has been stricken from the record for these twits, hasn’t it?
Also, as far as the purges, etc. go, Is somebody going to write a book called “Conservative Communists, What the Right has learned from Stalin?”
It might take an hour and a half, given that said Glorious Rebels would have to wait for the Evil Socialist Public Transportation System to come up with enough subways and trains and all.
And that’s after half surrender to loud-talking teenagers.
START totally proved he was Neville Chamberlain in disguise.
And the Brady Bill proved that he was Stalin. Or Hitler. Or both, pace Pantload. *Are* there any conservatives left once you’ve purged Reagan? Nixon and both Bushes are getting retconned as liberals because they did at least one thing that wasn’t doctrinaire, and Hoover was, of course, a socialist. Eisenhower was never terribly conservative in the first place. Anyway the interstate highway system makes him a Sovietesque central planner, and the whole “military-industrial complex” thing makes him some sort of Chomskyite hippie. I know some of these guys get all drooly about Coolidge (and of course Lincoln, who REALLY wasn’t conservative), but that’s about it.
I appreciate that trying to tell Teh Last Honest Man in Washington anything is an exercise in futility, but here’s a special note to Holy Joe:
Senator Lieberman,
I appreciate that you’re trying to make a point, even if I disagree vehemently with it, but your overblown ridiculous rhetoric is essentially being quoted by this traitorous scum-sucking no-dick gun-fehtishizing l00ser.
I understand that you have this compulsion to defend the indefensible, but as the standard bearer for the Village and its received wisdom, shouldn’t you be putting a bit more thought into your words? Shouldn’t you be considering how rabidly dangerous psychopaths like Bobo Wens might hear your words? Isn;t what you’re doing emboldening the terrorists?
Sincerely,
Dragon-King Wangchuck
“Ultimately, laws are only lawful if the govern (sic) find them fair and justified. All else is dogma.”
So you don’t have to obey any laws you don’t agree with? What a concept.
I guess it’s “dogma” to legislate any regulation of an insurance company, or for that matter, any other business.
Shit for brains is too kind a description for these people.
They haven’t actually changed since 1860, have they? “We can have a ‘democracy’, and these silly ‘vote’ things, but basically if we don’t win the ‘election’, then we will consider the outcome illegitimate and secede or revolt or
kill the darkie/darkie lover you electedexercise our 2nd Amendment rights, whichever seems appropriate to us.”It’s kids pouting “I’m taking my ball and going home”, but with guns.
*Are* there any conservatives left once you’ve purged Reagan?
Sarah Palin.
Except she’s a woman working outside the home.
Mitt Romney
Except for the funny underwear and oddball religion.
Mike Hucka–
Well, let’s not get started on that one.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm…
*Are* there any conservatives left once you’ve purged Reagan?
Zell Miller?
The teabaggers are pretty finnicky. The commenters at Power Line wanted to purge Paul Mirengoff for suggesting that Sarah Palin is a doofus.
mark f, wash your mouth out with soap.
The commenters at Power Line wanted to purge Paul Mirengoff for suggesting that Sarah Palin is a doofus.
Hell, Charles Johnson at Lil Green Footballs is practically Che Guevara now.
America doesn’t need political scientists right now, it needs, zoologists who study primates.
This is rival chimpanzees determining who owns the banana tree. That’s the level of analysis we should start from.
Maybe I’m missing something but why are they combining the words “the” and “social” in “thesocial contract” is this some wingnut dogwhistle writing thing like “algore” or something?
Or are they just fucking stupid?
our patience is not transfinite.
Fixed that for him.
Funny to hear someone who talks about a “christian nation” talk about “dogma” in a negative sense.
Oh wait, consistency? That’s just a trivial concept that only applies to republicans when they want it to. Like everything else.
Here’s one: Mirengoff thinks maybe it wouldn’t have been so bad if Chicago got the Olympics. His readers flip the fuck out.
Evidently CY has pillaged the “Improve Your Word Power” columns from his entire collection of Readers’ Digest back-issues, in an attempt to write in the grandiloquent High Style, and pasted together the half-understood words and mouth-filling televangelist phrases to form a kind of rodomontage.
I imagine him taking off the road-kill that his photographs show him wearing as a toupee (you can’t tell me that that’s his actual haircut) and replacing it with a white powdered wig while he typed away, under the fond impression that he is Samuel Johnson reborn.
Confed is the shed–retro-fitting his Gas Grill Of Delicious Freedom with enough steel plating to take a direct hit from a LezGrenade or a Obamatov Cocktail.
Ben Verines!!!111!!111
Rodomontage. Brilliant. Just freaking brilliant.
Franklin Pierce. No lie. I’ve read Walt Williams pine for Pierce over at ClownHall, and one of my wingnut pals is always saying how Pierce served as a great example for how gubmit should be run.
The big thing they love about Pierce (who, FWIW, is widely regarded by the non-idiotic as a strenuously lousy President) is that he once vetoed a bill that would have increased funding for the mentally ill. Again, no lie.
Rodomontage. [golf claps] Brilliant. Just freaking brilliant.
(FYWP. Also.)
I have two words for Confederate Yankee… Whisky Rebellion.
Errrr, isn’t it rodomontaDe?
Either way, well played, sir….*polite golf clap*
Martini?
Ben Verines!!!111!!111
*yoink*
Too late.
Actor, I envisioned CY cutting and pasting all the big brass-plated words in to the rodomontage, which made me chortle.
Too late.
I’m sorry…Claude Levi Strauss?
That HAS to be made up, like one of those Dick Hertz names I signed…I mean, people signed…to the Delany book in high school.
“…disinterring pogroms…”
If this means digging up Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan, pissing all over their remains, setting them on fire, loading their ashes into a rocket and flinging it into the sun…
well I’m for it.
Well, if a rodomontage is going to make one do anything, it’s chortle. Perhaps guffaw.
when they look back on all hes done theyre gonna realize nixons the 1
nixons the 1
And agnew was #2.
Wasn’t Hawthorne a big Pierce supporter even writing his inaugural address or something? And wasn’t Pierce a democrat?

A.V. Club? Is that the Audio Visual Club that attracts all the Grade A nerds, or the African Violet Club that sweeps up the rest?
I think ConFed should be encouraged to personally arrest Barack Obama for treason. Once he explains to the Secret Service detail that Obama is “undermining the principles that has enabled this government of the people, for the people and by the people,” they’ll probably turn their service revolvers over to him.
By the way, do you think this asshat even knows who wrote that “government of the people, for the people and by the people” phrase (which he didn’t even transcribe accurately)? Or where and in what circumstances it was delivered?
Imagine this site if the trolls’ big thing was “The Boondock Saints” instead of wingnuttery, and that’s the AV Club.
If their patience is not finite, then it is infinite.
On the other hand, they’re confused by Zeno’s Paradox, so they might still think in finities.
But he was an Northerner, like Hawthorne, right? New Hampshire?
Back then they called a “confederate yankee” a doughface. Perhaps a good new nickname.
It’s all button-pushing bullshit words. They don’t have any fucking idea what “tyranny” or “fascism” mean.
What’s hilarious is that the former back-bench bombchucker that taught them how to do this, the Newt, is about to become persona non grata with the political cult he helped create.
IM, correct. He’s from New Hampshire, if I’m not mistaken.
I’ve asked it before, but I am going to ask it again.
What the buggery fuck are they getting so wound up about?
What aspects of a tyranny is Obama trying to force on them?
I just don’t get it at all…
Sigh. Kids today. Once we had style, esprit de corps, Sic Semper Tyrannis: now, we have only third rate imbeciles urging their disciples to join them in, what, writing a strongly worded letter? Will you be serving tea with that, Mr. Owens? You, sir, are not man enough to use the name “Confederate.”
Human Events just sent an email saying they have slashed prices on Going Rogue, Sarah Palin’s book, to $5 a copy.

Joe, I didn’t notice at first, but somebody else mentioned it above. I was so gobsmacked by his “point” I missed the whole malaprops-and-5$/footlong-words-picked-out-of-a-hatness of it.
is this some wingnut dogwhistle writing thing like “algore” or something?
I still haven’t figured out what “algore” is supposed to mean or why they find it funny.
What aspects of a tyranny is Obama trying to force on them?
That all the white wimmins get sexed by them black mens.
Really, they think that a black man’s ruling over them. They equate president with king. Wouldn’t have the foggiest how that idea got in their heads.
all those yrs of shakespeare and what is all any1 wants 2 talk about?
What aspects of a tyranny is Obama trying to force on them?
I’m gonna go with diijon mustard and arugula.
First they came for the yellow mustard, but I prefered ketchup so I said nothing.
Then they came for the iceberg lettuce . . .
and so on.
Makes about as much sense as any other theory.
Human Events just sent an email saying they have slashed prices on Going Rogue, Sarah Palin’s book, to $5 a copy.

Surprised? Wingnuts don’t read “books”, you silly goose! Books are for commienazimuslimofascistogogues, and you know who wrote a book once? Hitler. Wingnut reading material, from what I can tell, includes blogs from the three basic blog groups (Ignorant, Militant, and Apocalyptic) and the movie ad on the side of the french fry box. Also, if they gave away free booze with that book, I’d totally buy it. Also.

Also, I forgot to put my name in.
I think some of the wingnuts are just buying the Palin book in hopes of it having a centrefold, like most of their reading material has.
Obama is the arugula of insalada fascism and the spicy brown mustard of international condimentism.
“nixons the 1”
Actual graffiti from Batts Hall, UT-Austin, circa 1971:

You know what, a halal lamb kebab with arugula and some fancy mustard sounds pretty good right now..

That was a big hit for The Platters in 1956!
Bob bob, bob bob, halal lamb kebab, kebab bob, bob bob…
Ahh, my liberal droogs. Making fun of Bob Owens, who, I should note, is a total badass. You cross his bad side at your own peril.
You cross his bad side at your own peril.
Well, his good side cracked the camera lens, and made me gag.
I still haven’t figured out what “algore” is supposed to mean or why they find it funny.
That would be your brain’s self-defense mechanisms kicking in. You can seriously injure yourself trying to understand wingnut “thinking” and “humor.”
Sarah Palin.
Except she’s a woman working outside the home.
This is no longer a problem for the right. I believe K-Lo has repeatedly argued that Palin’s decision to mix family and work are evidence of the *defeat* of feminism. No, I’m not making this up.
“Bob Owens, who, I should note, is a total badass. You cross his bad side at your own peril.”
Keep discussion about your preverted sex life out of the comment section please. This is a family blog.
I believe K-Lo has repeatedly argued that Palin’s decision to mix family and work are evidence of the *defeat* of feminism.
Ah. Arbeit macht frei.
The funny thing about the Palin colouring book on Amazon, is they claim that people actually buy that AND Palin’s book. Why the hell would anyone do that?
This is a family blog.
*shoving the gimp dressed like Ted Haggard in the closet*
Yea! What gocart said!
is they claim that people actually buy that AND Palin’s book
The same reason many conservatives buy Colbert’s act.
Hey, Actor, what do you mean “dressed like”? That IS Ted Haggard right?
“The funny thing about the Palin colouring book on Amazon, is they claim that people actually buy that AND Palin’s book. Why the hell would anyone do that?”
What an absurd question! We all love coloring Sarah and her whole family, including the little retard.
Sarah! Forever said,

I get the feeling that someone is experimenting with styles of writing, and comes here to try out their best troll stuff. It’s annoying.
That IS Ted Haggard right?
Damn. He’s right! And here I thought the whole “teeth” thing was because he was a horse. Of course. Of course.
“I get the feeling that someone is experimenting with styles of writing, and comes here to try out their best troll stuff. It’s annoying.”
Yeah. The nerve of people coming to a comedy blog and taking on a fake personality just to try to evoke laughter. Right Tintin? How about you, D. A.? And HTML?
Caddy smelled like trees.
Human Events just sent an email saying they have slashed prices on Going Rogue, Sarah Palin’s book, to $5 a copy.
She does know that 1.5 million is an advance against royalties doesn’t she?
Making fun of Bob Owens, who, I should note, is a total badass. You cross his bad side at your own peril.
Oh, my!! what’s he going to do…..troll here?
Yeah. The nerve of people coming to a comedy blog and taking on a fake personality just to try to evoke laughter. Right Tintin? How about you, D. A.? And HTML?
I’m shocked.
I remember a few months ago there was a post in CYs blog about a then recent mass murder- some guy with a gun had gone berserk in a mall. As he often does CY wrote about how cowardly the people at the crime scene were to not have disarmed the gunman. This was followed by reader comments agreeing with CY that Americans are cowards, particularly the ones that don’t carry guns.
Quite a way into the comments CY himself wrote a lengthy comment in which he gives a very detailed account of the heroics he would have performed if he had been present for the Virginia Tech mass murder. The level of detail was truly disturbing. He clearly plays this stuff out in his head a great deal. The scenario read like a shitty Tom Clancy novella, full of all the pseudo-military gun lingo that CY and his ilk get off on.
This guy lives in a paranoid fog. He is seriously creepy. But then I’m a girly-man without the guts to carry a gun.
Yeah. The nerve of people coming to a comedy blog and taking on a fake personality just to try to evoke laughter. Right Tintin? How about you, D. A.? And HTML?
The comment I highlighted is pretty out of character for the main posters, and for the regular commenters. Almost as if someone was trying to drop a turd in the pool, so that he could walk away, walk back, then start hollering about the turd in the pool.
Or, you know, someone’s just not funny.
to actor212 at 20.01
That was me posting as “Jeff Dunham” at 19.44 saying “Achmed the Dead Terrorist” is satire. (I can’t figure out how to italicize or blockquote in these comments, so forgive my technopeasantry). I was trying to make the point that Gary Ruppert has no reason to crow about Jeff Dunham being popular, because it doesn’t mean that people agree with the views of his puppets, just that they find him funny and understand that it is satire.
Did I miss something? Why do I suck? It was a straightforward attempt at a humorous reply to a bit of wingnuttery. What was I slabbing on?
Sorry, I REALLY don’t get it. If I said something offensive, I’ll apologize, but I gotta tell you I have no IDEA what that could be.
Rosie, I knew it was not the Jeff Dunham. I was replying as if it was.
And yes, Dunham sucks. 🙂
Now…SILENCE! I KEEL YOU!
She does know that 1.5 million is an advance against royalties doesn’t she?
In what respect,Charlie?
I’ve got to admit, I’m kind of surprised by this. I would have thought there would be enough of these morons to sell out at least the first printing.
Don’t take me as suggesting they would read it or anything—but they’d just have to buy it. Everybody had to have a copy of Mein Kampf on their coffee table, too—but I’d be willing to bet that <1% ever read it.
Don’t take me as suggesting they would read it or anything—but they’d just have to buy it.
Apparently sales of wingnut ideologies are lagging indicators of the economy. Look for a strong rebound in ~60 months when they get their jobs back.
As he often does CY wrote about how cowardly the people at the crime scene were to not have disarmed the gunman.
Now, I don’t remember exactly, because frankly I have better things to do with my limited neurons than keep track what Bobo Wens thinks, but compare this to his response when the Unitarian congregation disarmed that other gunman and sat on him – literally- until the police showed up.
Did Bobo respond? I’m guessing if he did, it was to say how much better it would have been if the pastor was packing and the thing turned into a full-fledged shootout.
Those unitarians. Not enough bloodshed.
actor212:
oh. ok. I get it. (blushes).
This is why I don’t comment here often. I appreciate the humor here a lot, but I’m not so good at DOING it, ya know?
I’m in wayyyyy over my head hahahaha.
Rosebuddear,, I believe Laym was talking about the Sarah sockpuppet who made the ‘retard’ reference.
It’s not unknown for the less imaginative trolls to scatter repulsive comments like that through lib bloggos, then quote them on wingnut blogs as evidence of the perfidy of liberals.
Myself, I thought the comment was kinda funny, as a faux-Palin patois. But you know, zombie here.
Those Unitarians are total badasses. You cross them at your own peril.
I believe Laym was talking about the Sarah sockpuppet who made the ‘retard’ reference
Yes, that.
I appreciate the humor here a lot, but I’m not so good at DOING it, ya know?
Well, hell, like that stops ME.
These pseudo-macho assholes are everywhere. A few years ago at the Tacoma Mall, they had a kid with an “assault” rifle holding a few people hostage in one of the stores. There was one of these lunatics who managed the knife store, who’d been regaling everyone in the mall with predictions of his heroism if anything untoward ever happened, to the point nobody would talk to him any more. Rather than let the proper authorities defuse the situation, which is what happens 99% of the time, he just had to have a shootout. Managed to get himself paralyzed in the process, but endangered everyone else in the mall just to feed his macho ego.
Not that I think Bobo Wens would have the guts even to do that—but I’m sure he would be just as good at bending everybody’s ear about it beforehand.
Stop slandering my knitted brethren, you repugnant bastards!
Plus, I remember the good old days when a messed up tag would screw up the rest of the thread….
Not that I think Bobo Wens would have the guts even to do that
Oh, man, I totally disagree.
I think TIDOS Yankee is TOTALLY capable of getting himself paralyzed.
Rose,
The only way you’re going to get funnier is to keep at it. Don’t be embarassed. We only bite people who disagree AND are unfunny.
Well, we bite others, but money has usually exchanged hands.
I appreciate the humor here a lot, but I’m not so good at DOING it, ya know?
Here, lack of ability is no reason for reticence. Trust me.
Stop slandering my knitted brethren, you repugnant bastards!
When they start dropping purls of wisdom, we’ll stop needling them.
Quite a way into the comments CY himself wrote a lengthy comment in which he gives a very detailed account of the heroics he would have performed if he had been present for the Virginia Tech mass murder.
If CY, Mark Steyn and John Derbyshire were at the scene of a shooting, which one do you think would shit themselves most?
I appreciate the humor here a lot, but I’m not so good at DOING it, ya know?
Here, lack of ability is no reason for reticence. Trust me.
Oftens the time I’ve sent out a totally unfunny comment, only to see someone else pick it up and Rumplestilskin it, weaving an entire thread of comedic gold out of my hay.
She does know that 1.5 million is an advance against royalties doesn’t she?
Did she ever return all those clothes? Just sayin’, that advance might not have the pubco’s wisest business decision ever…
dont b an hero, CY! we aer going 2 win over 9 thousand seats next election and rule for more than 100 yrs!
that advance might not have the pubco’s wisest business decision ever…
Can they force her to give it back? I don’t know much about publishing, but I thought that at least with books they didn’t generally do that.
It would be really goddam funny watching them try to collect, though – and I think they know it’d be hopeless.
If CY, Mark Steyn and John Derbyshire were at the scene of a shooting, which one do you think would shit themselves most?
Would you want to be close enough to measure?????
We only bite people who disagree AND are unfunny.
Actually, there’s a pretty high tolerance for disagreement and unfunny here, as well as allowing for drunken mistakes, general profanity and even some out and out shocking things….
Just as long as, you know, you’re arguing in good faith. Hence, the merciless mockery of the trolling class. People hereabouts usually pick up very quickly on fakers.
Don’t have any explanation for their tolerance of zombies though.
Look, if CY is allowed to post things on the internet, then so are you. This is the INTERNET people! Editorial standards are the lowest you will find, excepting the Washington Post of course.
Oh, and Rose, the “biting” that Actor refers to is largely metaphorical. There are, however, exceptions that usually are presaged by a shambling sound.
Oftens the time I’ve sent out a totally unfunny comment, only to see someone else pick it up and Rumplestilskin it, weaving an entire thread of comedic gold out of my hay.
And sometimes I just eats your branes.
One of the hazards, I’m afraid.
Looch is an Undead Bigot.
Besides beating me to the comment. Just because he’s more pithy than I am.
Now I’m pithed.
And sometimes I just eats your branes.
That’s OK, there’s plenty more where those petunia.
Don’t have any explanation for their tolerance of zombies though.
*u/l bar of Zest to ZRM*
A bigot of the undead variety or a bigot against the living-deprived?
dont b an hero, CY! we aer going 2 win over 9 thousand seats next election and rule for more than 100 yrs!
Now, that’s funny.
If his melon ever gets within biting distance, BOTH.
Seriouser question:
Don’t have any explanation for their tolerance of zombies though.
Our computers lack Smell-O-Vision.
Mmmmm, melon…
thx guys, for kind replies.
damn, now I’m searching these comments for all posts referred to.
Teh Funny sometimes eats my brains in here. Oh and also, you all rock.
also.
(hey, I can do this crap TOO).
My favorite Cornfed one of these is when he pimped the OMG GUNS ARE RUNNING OUT! story and had a nice, super-zoomed pic of Obama’s eyes.
Teh Funny sometimes eats my brains in here.
That’s ZRM wearing a “Teh Funny” mask. Look close, the shambling gives him away.

”We all sing with the same voice, the same song, the same voice. We all sing with the same voice and we sing in harmony…
I live in southern France, I’m from a Texas ranch, I come from Mecca and Peru… I come from everywhere, and my name is you…”
That’s right kids! We’re ‘All’ the ‘same’… um, except that we’re all different.
As Orwell deconstructed: “All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.”
What next, “Monsters are entitled to their opinions and those opinions deserve equal respect to humans”?
NUTS!

There is more than one way to rumplestilkskin a cat.
Breitbart- Not as clever or politically aware as the average puppet. The hand up Breitbart’s ass is giving a nazi salute.
Keep Dash away from the indoctrination of Sesame Street.
Comment there:
When is the last time God Bless America was sung, or the Pledge of Allegiance recited on ‘Sesame Street?’
But little schoolkids singing a song praising Obama once is indoctrination…
as long as I’m here – can anybody explain to me how to blockquote on this site?
‘S embarrassing not to know. I have searched the site and can’t figure it out.
Look close, the shambling gives him away.
OK, I see we need to have a discussion here about the difference between shambling and lurching.
Also, Dash has immunity from ZOM NOM NOMming…. on account of Librul Kewtness.
Like that? Use blockquote in your tags.
But; the quote above: typical wingnut. Speechless in rage about a CHILDREN’S SHOW.
says a lot, really.
I wonder when was the last time Breitblart visited a military base.
Sesame Street did.
Of course they do the pledge of allegiance on PBS, the words are a bit different because they include your credit card number, but you do get a gift pack out of it!
Precede the quote with [blockquote] and follow it with [/blockquote]—replacing “[” and “]” with “” of course.
Be fair, Zombie, the show was probably asserting that all children smile. Communist children do not smile.
That’s ZRM wearing a “Teh Funny” mask. Look close, the shambling gives him away.
N__B loves me, really he does.
As long as he knows I’m half a continent away.
OK, I see we need to have a discussion here about the difference between shambling and lurching.
I always believed lurching was done by jerks.
You, sir, are no jerk
It won’t show lesser-than and greater-than even when they’re not in tags? FYWP!
let’s see – like so?
like that? I took a course in HTML once, but apparently it didn’t take enough lolol. Or previewing, I guess it did.
Dash rocks his wooly worm hat
Dash’s role model.
Either that or he is wearing a tea-cozy on his head in the hope of infiltrating the next tea party.
Shorter wingnut: Obama doesn’t want families to be bankrupted by Healthcare costs! What a DICK!!!
Precede the quote with [blockquote] and follow it with [/blockquote]—replacing “[” and “]” with “” of course.
he means the “greater than; lesser than” signs. Or left pointing and right pointing arrows.
Shorter Dash:
“HELO LADEEZ!”
Also, to blockquote, type the following: <blockquote>quoted text</blockquote>
Finally:
“Don’t have any explanation for their tolerance of zombies though.”
Hey, we’re libruls. We’re the inclusive ones, remember?
Also.
Anyway, replace the square brackets with angle brackets: shift-comma and shift-period.
The Daily Dash: Dash rocks his wooly worm hat, and ponders where the rest of his legs have gotten to.
Neat. Billy Gibbons has a hat like that. Tell Dash to keep it, ’cause guitar players get all the babes.
Never. Trust. Preview™ Rose. It sometimes shows things that aren’t real.
Take the “strike” tag. Some of us learned it as “s” “/s”
Preview shows that, but to post it has to be “strike” “/strike” (with angle brackets)
As Orwell deconstructed
No, he WROTE that. Some blog-clogger moron deconstructed it to mean Eric Blair would agree how horrible it is that Sesame Street is beaming “highly controversial political messages designed to promote multiculturalism and global citizenship.”
Well, brains _are_ delicious…
Dash rocks his wooly worm hat
Dang, if I had a chapeau like that I’d get allll the ladeez.
“Coherent messaging”:
Have any of them ever re-read anything they’ve typed, even once?

DON’T believe what the Breathers say about zombies.
The Daily Dash: Dash rocks his wooly worm hat, and ponders where the rest of his legs have gotten to.
HE went trick or treating dressed as Don King????
ok I have spewed enough coffee on my keyboard here. Thx all for advice.
When I do have replace this keyboard, it’s going to be a major chore. Have to move this massive computer table out from the wall to do it. Sigh. I tried to convince my Dad and movers to leave it a little farther out so I could get behind there, but NOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
Always trust the shorter and your own instincts.
Well, you’ve gotta admit, we are ALL about fomenting coherency.
The kids simmering in a pot though, I’m pretty sure that’s just Ed Gein and Jeffrey Dahmer, and I don’t know what their politics were.
DON’T believe what the Breathers say about zombies.
We prefer “pulmonarily enhanced”
Always trust the shorter, never trust the preview. Do not feed the troll unless you want it to follow you home. Yeah, that more or less covers it.
Breitbart is just jealous of the fact that Kermit has a better career than he does.
even towards our kids simmering in the pot
WAY too much information.
Dash’s hat is amazing.
It is both ironic and hypocritical that the folks producing and airing such socially conscious segments for “Sesame Street” would certainly be among the very first to intolerantly decry the holy leftist “separation of church and state!” political canard.
When Sesame Street starts talking about God, then I’ll be the first to man the ramparts.
It’s a fucking basic education show! Jeeeeeesus!
Breitbart is just jealous of the fact that Kermit has a better career than he does.
It’s worse than Breitbart, Socky.
It’s one of the stupid Baldwin cousins and bad X Files actor…Adam!
Breathers?!! How rude, as if billions of individuals could be reduced to one feature! How would you like it if we called you all rotters? HMPH!
OK, I see we need to have a discussion here about the difference between shambling and lurching.
Fine. One can lurch within a general shamble to and fro, in fact the lurching often is the cause of the “to or “fro” nature of the shambling. One cannot, however, shamble within a lurch. One can be shambling when a lurch occurs, but lurching does not connote shambling.
Clear?
Yes, but Breitbart is ultimately responsible. And he will be made to pay.
Crikey, you rotter!!
“socially conscious” is a religion now?
the difference between shambling and lurching.
A
shambles
is a slaughterhouse or butcher shop; I know that much. I’m not so sure what alurch
is, but apparently it’s where you leave things, which in my case usually happens at the Old Entomologist.the very first to intolerantly decry the holy leftist “separation of church and state!”
So annoying.
It’s not like they really think church and state should be joined; in reality they only really want jeebus and the state joined. If their kids we’re being taught Hindu, Buddhist, Muslim, or Jewish theological ideas, then they’d be cranky about that too.
I think I can see why they hate sesame street. The only moral instruction you find in childrens TV amounts to “don’t be an asshole”.
The fewer assholes in society, the harder it gets to recruit people to the teabagging cause.
There isn’t a single “actor” writing for big hollywood who can act better than Ronald Regan. (if you dug him up and added some strings)
I thought a slaughterhouse was an abbatoir.
Or did John Cleese steer me wrong? I became an architect based on seeing that sketch when I was thirteen!
It’s kinda sad that Animal Mother has gone from eating the boogers out of a dead man’s nose and asking for seconds to trembling in fear of the dangers posed by “intoxicating muppetry.”
But wait! There’s more!
“and like I said the Jeff Dunham Show is a huge hit despite protests from the anti-freedom of speech Left.” – Gary Ruppert.
I think Jeff is hot, too, Gary.
“That’s right kids! We’re ‘All’ the ‘same’… um, except that we’re all different.
As Orwell deconstructed: “All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.”
[It would appear that when Mr Baldwin read “Animal Farm”, he was rooiting for the pigs.]
“What next, “Monsters are entitled to their opinions . . . ?”
[Yes, even zombies or Republicans]
Also, to lazy to figure out how to block quote, also.
I thought a slaughterhouse was an abbatoir. I became an architect based on seeing that sketch when I was thirteen!
Freemasonry opens doors.
When the Frau Doktorin and I get around to a formal wedding, my preference is to hold the ceremony in a slaughterhouse. That way I will be able to boast to people that I live in a menage abbatoir.
Or did John Cleese steer me wrong? I became an architect based on seeing that sketch when I was thirteen!
After watching the lumberjack skit, I saw the pitfalls of a career in forestry.
Yes, we ( & the Doktorin) can see how sincere you are about having that formal wedding.
and like I said the Jeff Dunham Show is a huge hit despite protests from the anti-freedom of speech Left.
..and it airs on the same network as teh Daily Show; not to mention Colbert (although it is anybody’s guess as to whether GRuppert recognizes the satire in the second)
So is Comedy Central liberal or conservative?
“An irate viewer calls in to berate him that the news is not grouchy enough.”
They sure get grouchy when you call them grouchy don’t they?
[Yes, even zombies or Republicans]
I object MOST STRENUOUSLY, Sir, to being lumped in with monsters.
Even Zombies have some fucking standards. I DEMAND AN APOLOGY, Sir, or We shall meet on the Field of Honor!!
I DEMAND AN APOLOGY, Sir, or We shall meet on the Field of Honor!!
Well not on this field, it’s too crowded and that’s why no one goes there anymore.

And they shambled there. With occasional lurches.
“If Mom and Dad watch cable news, it’s better than 50/50 they watch “POX News.” So what gives? PBS — a network partially funded with my tax dollars — has the right to tell my kids that their parents watch “trashy” news? The message is clear, I can’t even sit my kids in front of “Sesame Street” without having to worry about the Left attempting to undermine my authority. And don’t tell me, “If you don’t like it change the channel.” There are no channels left! It’s everywhere. Just last week I had Obama’s service and volunteerism promoted on every single major network, including Disney and Nickelodeon.”
NOOO! NOT VOLUNTEERISM! THE HORROR, THE HORROR. WHO WILL STOP THIS LIBERAL FASCIST PLOT?
We shall meet on the Field of Honor!!
Lurch ten paces, turn, and NOM.
Bob Owens, such a badass. Would have been a Ranger or a SEAL, but for his trick knee.
There are no channels left!
It’s True!
I only have 4 or 5 hundred on my cable service! How can we go on, I ask you.
And they shambled there. With occasional lurches.
So how do you tell the zombies from the Standard Pittsburghian?
My sincerest apologies to all past, present, and future undead. Unlike Republicans, you people have brains and quite often as I am led to believe.
Just last week I had Obama’s service and volunteerism promoted on every single major network, including Disney and Nickelodeon.
Now commercials that encourage my kids to buy Girls Gone Wild videos are fine upstanding examples of market forces at work, but to ask for volunteerism is beyond the Randian pale of all that’s decent in our society.
I am PARTICULARLY proud of how often Sadly threads turn into zombie parteez.
Take note, Rosebuddear. You don’t have to be funny or smart or anything, just an annoying shtick.
From Pittsburgh, no shambling.
Now commercials that encourage my kids to buy Girls Gone Wild videos are fine upstanding examples of market forces at work, but to ask for volunteerism is beyond the Randian pale of all that’s decent in our society.
It’s the reminding that you don’t have to be a grasping, bitter asshole that offends them.
There are no channels left!
I thought his entire point was that they were all left. Talk about “no coherent messaging.”
Substance, that was GREAT.
The haircuts were kinda zombie though.
NOOO! NOT VOLUNTEERISM! THE HORROR, THE HORROR. WHO WILL STOP THIS LIBERAL FASCIST PLOT?
At this point, I believe the general wingnut is threatened by flowers and gravity.
Wait, what? I can’t keep up. Why doesn’t Breibart like Sesame Street?
is this going to be like the time he stood up on the view deck at Shutters on the Beach and yelled at some kids marching in solidarity with Sudanese kids, because he mistakenly thought they were protesting something else?
a grasping, bitter asshole
Oh noes, prehensile piles!
MONTY PYTHON ZOMG ROFL
Yes, we ( & the Doktorin) can see how sincere you are about having that formal wedding.
Plan B is to hire the Tuatara Brewery for the venue. There has long been vexed discussion amongst my friends and family as to whether I am in fact capable of organising a piss-up in a brewery, and it would be nice to put it to an empirical test.
“a grasping, bitter asshole”
Enough with the buggery jokes please. This is a family blog.
I will KEEP that in mind, ZRM. (Channeling Johnny Carson)
thanx for the headsup.
This is a family blog.
Indeed, more Addams or Munsters than Manson.
Plan B is to hire the Tuatara Brewery for the venue. There has long been vexed discussion amongst my friends and family as to whether I am in fact capable of organising a piss-up in a brewery, and it would be nice to put it to an empirical test.
Zombie is TOTALLY there. we like the beer.
I even promise to suspend Melon-NOMMing. Depending on the quality of the beer.
I’m not sure “if you don’t pass the laws we want we’ll shoot you” actually is a “founding principle” of the United States though.
I for one am shocked that the people who like the network with that one guy who cries all the time are so prone to freaking out.
What’s the deal?
Depending on the quality of the beer.
Opinions differ. The brewer puts hops in it. What is he trying to hide??!
Course it is. The same can be said for any nation formed by armed revolution.
I for one am shocked that the people who like the network with that one guy who cries all the time
Olberman?
Dear dear dear. someone is projecting again.
Course it is. The same can be said for any nation formed by armed revolution.
Don’t get them started on that whole watering the tree of liberty thing.
Though why armed insurrection is necessary when you have a democratically elected government is a little puzzling, unless of course we’re off on an Acorn tangent.
Keeping the right from plunging off the cliff of cogntive dissonance is harder than being goalie for the Redwings.
One thing that Americans often struggle to grasp, is that a “founding principle”, whether stated or implicit, is not necessarily something you want as a current principle of government.
Fucking founding father fetishiseing fuckwits FAIL.

Ambidextrous politico-sexual technique.
Holy fuck, those fainting pansies at Butt Hurtywood are fucking lame-ass sissies. I mean cheap passive aggressive “I PAY YOUR SALARY” shots at random civil servants is one thing, but SESAME STREET?
Check me out, I’m all tough and cool. I’m gonna poke fun at a kid’s show for being a partisan pasrtisan partisan. Take that Sesame Street you evil evil evil socialism thing.
Take that Sesame Street you evil evil evil socialism thing.
Wait until they find out Bert and Ernie are gay and married.
Architects explained by shorter: You don’t have to be funny or smart or anything, just an annoying shtick.
Same for engineers.
except less tact
Abuse in marriage is disgusting.
My personal favourite thing Sesame Street is this. As a kid, I thought it was all sweet and romantic in an awkward and very real way. Now I realize that two folks that have problems talking to one another because they’re too involved – and instead talk about how hawt it is – well, they’re probably having wild and kinky muppet sex right now.
Wait until they find out Bert and Ernie are gay and married.
Plus, Oscar is a Zombie. I mean, look at the pallor.
So how do you tell the zombies from the Standard Pittsburghian?
Dunno. What would be the point?
Wait until they find out that Zoot ghost wrote “Dreams Of My Father” and used to hang out and smoke pot with Bill Ayer’s back in the day.

I have a diploma that says I’m civil. So [thumbs in ears, fingers waving] blurble [/thumbs in ears, fingers waving] to you.
Okay, Butt Hurtywood quote from link #1:
WTF?!?!
Multiculturalism and global citizenship is “highly controversial”? PROTIP for Adam Baldwin – FUCK YOU. No wait, I mean if you got the words “RACIST FUCKING BIGOT” tattooed on your forehead, you wouldn’t have to write any more columns promoting your fucking ignorance.
Extra bonus fucktard points, here’s his closing ‘graf:
Yes you stupid piece of shit, “multiculturalism” is the ultimate method of subverting “out of many one”. Asshole.
I have a diploma that says I’m civil.
OK, then I am sure you’ve heard this one:
What’s the difference between mechanical engineers and civil engineers?
Mechanicals make weapons, civils make targets.
Granted, not so funny in the Mideast.
Granted, not so funny in the Mideast.
There’s a place where it is funny?
Butt Hurtywood piece #2. OMFG.
There’s a place where it is funny?
Your point. I owe you a drink.
However, you need to travel to Milwaukee and kiss the Fonzie statue to collect.
D-K W – Butthurt knows no season. Two years ago is like yesterday. It’s sort of the reverse of how a dog thinks everything is right now.
There’s a place where it is funny?
Although, as I recall, it served as humor in Engineering school.
Granted, many of those engineers wound up as Republicans or Libertarians, and we know how humor-impaired THEy are….
What is it about engineers that makes so many of them turn into Randroids? Or does the field attract people who are already Randroids?
Serious question.
In a case of double-reversiness:
WAAAH! NOT ONLY DID THEY MAKE FUN OF US BUT THEY DIDN’T MAKE FUN OF US! BOOO HOOO!
We see them for what they are: bitter, pompous and desperate.
As if you’ve never been the last person in the pub at chucking-out time. Yeah, sure.
More from Big Hurtywood:
Oooookay, then. Who is Greg Gutfeld? I mean, besides cool?
Andy Breitbart, the dumpy 50 something with hair that would make Eraserhead jealous.
He’s hot, he’s hip, he’s now.
How soon before these clowns are smoking doobies and trying to bang groupies in the back of the Tea-bag Express?

Dennis Miller, COOL?
Is it still 1992?
Of course, Miller is in perfect company with Gutfetid and Butthurt. He didn’t mention Andrew Klavan though.
PURGE HIM IMMEDIATELY!!!

What is it about engineers that makes so many of them turn into Randroids
Limitations of the pool-ball view of the universe.
Glenn Beck is so cool they can’t even tell how long he’s been dead anymore.
Glenn Beck is so un-cool I STILL want to give him a swirly….
Dennis Miller, COOL?
You betcha, Chachi!
Glenn Beck is so un-cool that he has his own conservapedia entry.
http://www.conservapedia.com/Glenn_Beck
“Liberal activism groups attempted to silence Beck by pushing his advertisers to abandon his program, after he courageously pointed out Barack Obama’s racism against white people and Obama’s hatred of white culture. This prompted “RedState” to defend Beck and call for a boycott of the advertisers on his show who were hoodwinked into boycotting it by the liberal elite.’
How many logical errors can you find in that one paragraph from conservapedia? Winner gets 1000 points to use as he or she wishes.
Having watched my son, now a Comp Sci freshman at <Major State University>, display some of the traits, let me attempt to offer a serious answer:
This is a kid who has been an achiever all through school. In every class, he felt held back by the “regular” students, even in the AP and honors classes. He was a member of a national award-winning jazz band in high school.
He hates hates McHatey-hates having to slow down for underachievers and the ill-prepared. He may or may not get that he got all the advantages growing up.
We have been very careful to point out that he was born on third base and that he shouldn’t think he hit a triple (h/t Ann Richards). Mostly I think he gets it. However, it’d be easy to imagine someone like him…someone who would be likely to get into engineering-like pursuits…never getting that message.
As a result, they get the attitude that “I don’t need your government intervention and nobody else should either.”
That’s my pop-psych theory, anyway.
I don’t want to live in a world where Greg Gutfield is considered “cool.” And that’s one thing I’ll never have to worry about.
Surely nobody would be stupid enough to extend a mechanistic view of the universe to human nature and ethics, without a thorough study of biology, history, anthropology, and related fields such as evolutionary psychology?
Sadly, no.
I can see how it happens though, since engineers are not particularly encouraged to question the physics their work is based on, they wouldn’t necessarily feel a need to examine the underlying assumptions of their political constructs either.
What is it about engineers that makes so many of them turn into Randroids?
Howard Roark was an architect; John Galt was an inventor. Rand makes it clear that Roark had done his technical homework, because he could design a housing project which would have a fraction of the low maintenance cost required. As Scott “Dilbert” Adams notes, engineers like Star Trek stories because engineer characters usually save the day in them — and get to have sex, albeit with aliens. Rand glorified such creative persons, and despised the beancounters &c. who we see as getting in our way. That this view is simplistically wrong is fine with us, since we don’t see much value in social interaction anyway. (stereotype=OFF)
Ahh, my liberal droogs. Making fun of Bob Owens, who, I should note, is a total badass. You cross his bad side at your own peril.
He’ll get all up into your grill, and then TIP IT!!
If CY, Mark Steyn and John Derbyshire were at the scene of a shooting,
which one do you thinkthey would shit themselves a moat.P(h)ixilated.
That’s my pop-psych theory, anyway.
Heh. Thanks, er, Pop.
since engineers are not particularly encouraged to question the physics their work is based on, they wouldn’t necessarily feel a need to examine the underlying assumptions of their political constructs either.
I don’t know which engineering school you attended, but at all three of mine, we were always taught to question our underlying assumptions most intensely. Assuming something which turns out later to have been untrue can get you a long and painful root-cause analysis of multiple fatalities.
Yeah, I can see how engineers would look at Rand’s separation of people into productive and unproductive, and automatically assume they were one of the productive.. Even if they were employed to design chemical weapons or furbies.
I know that with relation to software engineers, many look back at the dot com boom as some kind of lost utopia, a state that should, and could be permanent if only people knew just how important their code was.
I do know that funny things happen to people when their entire sense of self esteem comes from their technical skill.
Ahh, my liberal droogs. Making fun of Bob Owens, who, I should note, is a total badass. You cross his bad side at your own peril.
Now that would be funny in engineering school. And most other places. I mean, really, really funny in a “hold my drink and watch this!” kinda way.
Meanwhile, we have the cool kids on our side: Dennis Miller, Greg Gutfeld, Andrew Breitbart and yes, even Glenn Beck. And our cool kids are pointing out just how boring, lame, predictable and lazy the other side has become. No longer will middle-America sit back and feel powerless as these snobs pass judgment on what we find to be informative and entertaining.
Hi-larious!!
And this from a site whose whole purpose is to pass judgement on entertainment ?
I love the concept of middle America feeling powerless before the wrath of left wing snark. Also, too.
Well, the polls in the gubernatorial races have closed. Brace for gloat impact.
TEDISCO WIIIIIIIIIIIINS
Even more hilarious, going to Media Matters and reading the whole quote – by “these snobs” they actually mean Sesame Street.
That’s right, middle America is powerless at the gentle mockery and…er…failure to include FOX in made up cute nicknames…by a children’s television show.
The kids now know Kapital backwards and forwards. Also above, below, beside, behind, near and far.
If CY, Mark Steyn and John Derbyshire were at the scene of a shooting,
which one do you thinkthey would shit themselves a moat.Rumplestiltskin!
Tensor: I mean in the sense that the laws of physics and the maths are something settled, to be learned and applied, rather than investigated to the depths that a physics or maths student would.
The same doesn’t apply to anything involving human interaction though. No remotely accurate theoretical model of human behavior exists, so there is no base to work from.
Neuroscience is so undeveloped, and accurate data on human behavior is so much harder to get, that you cant treat building a community like building a bridge.
There is maybe the temptation there to build yourself a model of human behavior in the usual haphazard way, and in your mind, elevate it to the same status as the laws of physics.
Then again. Psychologists and Philosophers often seem to fall for the same trap. Maybe out of a desire for the kind of legitimacy you get when you are working from a more solid set of assumptions, rather than drawing yourself a datum line wherever you damned well please
Our gracious host: If I had told you 15 years ago that Newt Gingrich (!!!) would one day be purged from the conservative movement for not being conservative enough what would you have said?
Seriously? I’d have said “It’s nothing but a big head-fake, that utter radical Gingrich is trying to position himself as a ‘moderate.’ Don’t fall for this choreographed scam. Don’t believe it for a second.“
since engineers are not particularly encouraged to question the physics their work is based on, they wouldn’t necessarily feel a need to examine the underlying assumptions of their political constructs either.
What I’ve seen, not this so much as that the rigors of engineering school very nearly dictate the abandonment of any interest in anything else – music, art literature, philosophy – so that most of them don’t have the alternate points of view to evaluate the world beyond the deterministic POV.
And it is a bit amusing to watch them be befuddled by the reactions of normal ‘irrational’ people.
I exclude, of course, certain engineers who obviously have rounded their personalities through other means at their disposal.
by “these snobs” they actually mean Sesame Street.
The Count actually lives in a castle! Oscar lives in a trashcan and has a pet worm, though, so that puzzles me.
Interesting that the majority of this page deals with the “racism” of Obama.

I exclude, of course, certain engineers who obviously have rounded their personalities through other means at their disposal.
“Rounded personality” sounds so much better than “love handles”.
Interesting that the majority of this page deals with the “racism” of Obama.
Yes, slavery, lynchings, disenfranchisement, routine police brutality, segregation, redlinings…all these are as nothing to a remark Jimmy Carter once made about Obama.
Oscar was indoctrinated into liberal activism by those snobs at ACORN.
Poor people = elites. Everyday is opposite day in Conserva-World.
I wouldn’t really make the assumption that an education in engineering is any more time consuming than any other complex subject with a competitive job market, such as medicine or law. Of course, medicine and law require studying people, so perhaps I have shot down my own argument.
I think in the case of asperger-ish engineers with very narrow interests in life, they start down that road at a younger age, and tend to need some external force to get them out of their shell.
I think people who study science rather than engineering focus a lot more on the gaps in existing knowledge. It is hard to hold onto a deterministic world view when you are more aware of where current understanding ends, and just how much remains unknown. Scientists seem to be generally politically liberal, more so than engineers.
What I’ve seen, not this so much as that the rigors of engineering school very nearly dictate the abandonment of any interest in anything else – music, art literature, philosophy…
My tech school only required six humanities courses, and you could take a language for all of them if you wanted. Whole lot of people good at math, okay at German, and terrible at everything else on that campus.
I myself was infected with the rugged individualist, John Galt strain of libertarianism for the first couple of years of college. Reading Milton Friedman cured me, but I shudder to think what a complete pill I must have been before then.
/delurking engineer
“Unlike other nations and states in times both past and present, we have the possibility of correcting our mistakes and removing the disloyal via the ballot instead of the barrel of a gun.”
And we did.
I’d argue that the further an engineer’s work is removed from the physical reality of his (or, unfortunately too rarely, her) life, the more likely they are to act that way. Structural (hi!) and automotive engineers deal with their own work and see it as “end users” see it; chemical and industrial engineers see their work, but only when at work; while “software engineers” deal with the inner workings of an abstraction.
A generalization on my part of course, but based on dealing with a lot of digit-heads over the years.
I exclude, of course, certain engineers who obviously have rounded their personalities through other means at their disposal.
I try to live up to that.
I think people have it right here, one way or another, esp. OneMan @ 2:55. I had that same kind of situation and my folks made it really clear how good I had it, and I credit them for my not becoming a pure Randroid dickhead. For that act and for encouraging me to broaden my horizons.
In general, I think the engineer Randroids are intelligent people who are just clueless socially, for whatever reason.
Engineers, like everyone else, are assholes when they weren’t taught when young how not to be assholes.
“Engineers, like everyone else, are assholes…”
You raise a great point. Engineers, however, often labor under the additional burden of thinking they’re smarter than everyone else.
I say that as a (hopefully non-asshole) software engineer.
Yeah, the boy is following in the old man’s footsteps, much to his mother’s chagrin.
Engineers, like everyone else…
Good point, but it does seem to be disproportionately common among us engineers.
I can say that, because I’m an engineer. I’m takin’ it back, you see.
But aren’t many people at University a “born on third base” type? Especially true for places where higher education is very expensive. I can’t see it as a phenomenon unique to engineering students.
I think N_B is right though. Coders do tend to see their work as a heroic one man effort, but engineers who deal with more real things can’t deny the teamwork that went into the project.
Also, generally speaking it is hard to remain anti-social when you spend more time wearing hi vis and with dirt under your fingernails, rather than sat infront of a computer screen.
OneMan, Xecky – If only all engineers were as enlightened as us…oops.
You raise a great point. Engineers, however, often labor under the additional burden of thinking they’re smarter than everyone else.
Well, perhaps, but back in the day when most of me and my gang of idiots were actually taking advantage of a liberal arts college education, there were a lot of “leaders” who were all about getting an MBA. This was back (way back) when MBAs were still somewhat of a novelty. I spent a few years (much later) dealing with the type in work, and for the most part they thought they were smarter than everyone else, and usually left some sort of deniable mess behind that required us “non-smart” people to clean up.
So, maybe engineers more so, but lots of others. Also.
engineers who deal with more real things can’t deny the teamwork that went into the project
I’ve learned moreover the past twenty years from steel-workers than I did in four years at the ‘Tute. I wouldn’t give up either part of my education…and I think similar experiences in other fields are a good thing. For example, if politicians had to go in the private market for health insurance…
more over not moreover

So shit me a moat, ’cause I shat a moat over yooooooooooou.

Curse you, Nate Silvvveeeerrrrr!
Interesting that the majority of this page deals with the “racism” of Obama.
That Conservapedia article is quite illuminating.
Among other things, it tells me that:
Obama is a racist because Keith Olberman called Rush Limbaugh a racist after Limbaugh made racist remarks.
Obama is a racist because Michael Steele called him one for asking Patterson to not run for governor.
Obama is a racist because Maureen Dowd called Joe Wilson one, and Joe’s sons said he’s not.
Obama’s a racist because he stopped going to Rev. Wright’s church – presumably for the wrong reasons?
**Watches engineers run off**
I’m duo-tasking. The other tab has the NYT web site. Never mind Bloomberg’s re-election, I’m stuck with four more years of that tummler Marty Markowitz as Brooklyn Beep
“Masters of the Universe” – wasn’t that how the boring bonds trader fancied his occupation in Bonfire of the Vanities?
Breitbart? More like Breitfart.
it’s real simple: don’t work? don’t eat.
why did communism fall? it’s because hundreds of highly trained academics with phds in economic science all thought a pair of shoes was worth something more or less than what a consumer was willing to pay for it.
america is heading down the same path. the next few years will be a referendum on common sense. count on it.
you heard it america choose between common sense and communism and if you vote for obama or health care or climate regulations it means you ain’t got the awesome common sense of the small business owner and you need to get out and work for a living until your world is a hellish pile of shit and you can’t go to the doctor no matter how much you save up but at least you’ll know that some proud small business owner who thinks he’s john adams reincarnated thinks you chose right
you’ll know that some proud small business owner who thinks he’s john adams reincarnated thinks you chose right
always did like me some tom jefferson better’n john adams. ayup some of us rural rolk is right well-read, ayup. know that comes as a surprise to some of y’all.
yep y’alls heard it right, fetishizing a couple dead white guys is more important than the health-and well-being of everyone you know dang dilly dong doodle homespun goodness straight from the heart
Can we have a troll that doesn’t talk like a crazy guy in a Lovecraft story? Or, alternately, can we all start doing that?
yep y’alls heard it right, fetishizing a couple dead white guys is more important than the health-and well-being of everyone you know
everyone i know, everyone i care to know, works for a livin’ son.
little that tom jefferson hated more than ‘incorporations,’ as he rightly knew that left unchecked private power in the hands of corporate ‘combinations’ would ruin the republic. he was right.
Can we have a troll that doesn’t talk like a crazy guy in a Lovecraft story? Or, alternately, can we all start doing that?
Oooh, your commentary is so tentacley and hard…
Or is that not what you meant?
Can we have a troll that doesn’t talk like a crazy guy in a Lovecraft story?
as opposed to all them there sane people in lovecraft stories? that’s right i read lovecraft and ambrose bierce too. did i just blow yer mind? i’ll do that, from time to time, or so i hear. grins
ayup.
i read books sometimes this just shocks you damn weirdo libs with your gay coffee and your gunless urban lofts ha i am a rebel by being a proud rural person who likes books because if there’s anything us rural folk are known for it’s our love of books and our literary traditions
if there’s anything us rural folk are known for it’s our love of books and our literary traditions
y’all ever heard of mark twain? or is the revisionist version of him that he was some ivy league mba from east village? i wouldn’t know since i don’t read the new york review, too busy with plato and carlyle and ayn rand and thomas aquinas.
everyone i know, everyone i care to know, works for a livin’ son.
ahyippity yup, nobody you know will ever be fired or get in a car accident or get cancer or pneumonia or type two dia-uh-beetus or nothin’ ever just straight pure homespun wisdom keepin everyone perfectly happy and employed and jiggity-glorble-floo stickin my dicks in peaches
So is this Center Left Grrl’s cousin who took Comparative Western Lit this semester? The writing style has a familial resemblance.
Please shut up with the god-damned masturbating at how proud you are to be rural. I grew up next to a tobacco farm. The only people hostile to my readin’ were other rural white suburbanites who thought it might lead to excess thought, diminished religiosity, and belief in evolution. In other words, the typical white, Southern, conservative jackasses.
I’m glad that you live in a rural area and read. Whuptee. Welcome to the club. Big fuckin’ shit.
Ay-yup, shore. Jes’ lissen to th’ folksy common wisdom of us well read crackers.
Just one question, rube: If you want to work, & can work, but you can’t get a job, because the Wall street jagoffs have decided that they’re making enough money w/ their Ponzi schemes that a “jobless” recovery is what we really need, is it OK if we get all 18th century on you & the other losers who suck up to the rich & have a little revolution on your home-spun Ayn Rand asses?
‘Cause that revolution stuff isn’t just work, it’s hard work!!
By the way: “If you don’t work, you don’t eat?” First said in reference to spoiled rich Limeys who thought having someone else do the farming in their New World colony was the way it would be.
21st century version? “If you invest, instead of working, you don’t eat either.”
Try the soles of those shoes you were blathering about, cretin.
P, S.: Ayn Rand was a twisted piece of shit who despised idiots like you & would have used your face for an ashtray if her culltist worshipers had let you into the same room w/ her.
I grew up next to a tobacco farm
so yer ashamed of yer roots? tsk tsk son, tsk tsk. i’m real proud of where i come from and let me assure you it is possible to be a proud rural american from down south and still be better read than any latte sippin’ soy munchin’ college kid.
as far as what happens when people who work hard get sick or get hurt well all i can say is what my daddy used to tell me. he’d say “shit fire and save matches, boy, as long as you’re working and you save more than you spend you’ll be alright.” personal responsibility is not a dirty word and we’re not commies quite yet despite the best efforts of carter, clinton, clinton, and now the boy king obama.
Just one question, rube: If you want to work, & can work, but you can’t get a job,
if you really wanna work, you’ll find a way. pure clean and simple as that. ayup.
The writing style has a familial resemblance.
I’d say its even closer than that.
~
I’d say its even closer than that.
IT’S COMING FROM INSIDE THE HOUSE!
That’s some homespun wisdom there alright.
as long as you’re working and you save more than you spend you’ll be alright
We’ll assume that means you’re in favor of living wages for all, then.
Do you save more than you spend? Does anyone? Moron or another attempted parody troll.
Either way, you should be sterilized before you can reproduce.
Teh South IS well known for getting more back from the Federal Gubbermint than they send in.
Gooper family values, and such as.
~
Do you save more than you spend? Does anyone?
well now i was brought up not to brag on money or nothin’, but i’m doin’ alright by me and mine. thanks for askin’. certainly ain’t never had to go on welfare or no kinda charity. always stood on my own two feet even when t’weren’t easy. now that it is pretty easy i can feel proud of a life real well spent.
In Rural America, they don’t use capital letters. No one knows why. As a boy growing up in unincorporated Itawamba County, someone would call on the party line that a capital “M” was coming down the dirt road, and we’d all line up to see it pass. We’d talk about that for weeks.
How is such a well-read troll such a crappy speller? Or is that some attempt at dialect?
jiggity-glorble-floo stickin my dicks in peaches
L, O, I say, L.
Teh South IS well known for getting more back from the Federal Gubbermint than they send in.
well now i ain’t never taken a dime or a sheckel of that money and neither has anyone i know. but i see this statistic trotted out sometimes and if it’s true, let’s just call it reparations. for war crimes committed by you big fatcat industrialist types in the north agin’ yer agrarian cousins down here in god’s country. hoots and laughs
*I* find the troll condescending.
…let’s just call it reparations
The winner pays reparations to the loser? Now, the United States has generously rebuilt the places it defeated (Nazi Germany, Imperial Japan, Confederate traitors), but that was forward-thinking policy, not reparations. Like ConWank, you might want to study those big words before you apply them.
if you really wanna work, you’ll find a way. pure clean and simple as that. ayup.
Absolutely. Which is why I’ve found dealing crack to be such a great career move.
Bulk packaged pork rinds + keyboard = FAIL that is not finite.
why did communism fall? it’s because hundreds of highly trained academics with phds in economic science all thought a pair of shoes was worth something more or less than what a consumer was willing to pay for it.
Really? Does that explain this?
ayup and y’all in the the same line? Regional accent imitation FAIL!
well, it’s wicked hahd to keep up the gawddamn accent, you betcha, by Yumpin’ Yiminy. Or something.
People that refer to Obama as “the boy king” blow my fucking mind.
certainly ain’t never had to go on welfare or no kinda charity. always stood on my own two feet even when t’weren’t easy.
course if it weren’t for them farm subsidies and government cheese, we-uns would’ve had a hard time of it. It’s a good thing the Army Corps of Engineers built the levee and the TVA power came through. An’ my granpaw’s VA shore did hep with the medical expenses. But we-uns ain’t never goin ta rely on no guvment handouts.
NY23rd called for the Democrat.
Nelson Muntz is saying “Hah hah!”
Hoffman concedes:

NY23rd called for the Democrat.
Nelson Muntz is saying “Hah hah!”
Thank the lord. Hoffman was an incompetent titbag, even by far-right standards. And I will enjoy Beck, Limbaugh, NRO, etc etc over the next few days going NO NO NO YOU DONT UNDERSTAND WE LOST BECAUSE WE DIDNT GO EXTREME FAR RIGHT ENOUGH. WE NEED TO FIELD EVEN FUCKING CRAZIER CANDIDATES IF WE WANT TO WIN AAAAAAAAAAAH
Cool. I didn’t expect that at all. Isn’t this the first time they’ve elected a Democrat since before the Civil War?
ACORN must’ve been driving around the district with their mobile Leninist hypno-ray.
There was a part of me that wanted Hoffman to win just to amp up the wingnuts, but upon further reflection I realize they’ll be amped up anyway, so double plus good!
How could anyone endorsed by Fred Thompson possibly lose?
The homespun common sense (getcha sum of it) accent must be what people sound like when they pontificate while teabagging. The srcotum bouncing off the lower lip probably garbles the words some.
Isn’t this the first time they’ve elected a Democrat since before the Civil War?
Yes, the last time a Democrat won, he beat the Whig Party candidate.
I have been really worried that King County (WA) was going to elect the Michelle Bachmann clone Susan Hutchison County Executive, just because we’ve seen her on TV. However, Dow Constantine is ahead 57/43 right now. Furthermore, Tim Eyman’s latest government-crippling Initiative, 1033, is losing, and it looks like Referendum 71, “Everything but marriage” for same-sex and senior couples is winning. That’s closer, but Seattle’s vote isn’t all in yet.
A good night in Washington, it looks like.
Bloomburg spent 100 million and eeked out a close victory.
Gay marriage in Maine is too close to call, also.
So. The 23rd district of NY, which hadn’t sent a Dem. to Wash. since 1852 or something, but went for Obama last yr. has someone who is not a total wack job nominated by “the liberal country club Republicans” (read that on some reactionary moron’s blog) of the district Republican Party, who may have noticed that Obama won the district.
This perfectly reasonable candidate for the district as it just voted is then run out of the election by a fucking carpetbagger who doesn’t even live in th e district & seems to be some wimpy ineffectual shlub who lets Dick Armey lead him around, doesn’t know anything about the district’s issues (That’s just parochial, sez Armey) & the Democrat wins.
Yee haw!!
Also: How long before Fat-Boy Christie gets caught on corruption charges, or the pig in VA tries to pass a law keeping women out of the workforce? Can’t wait.

At least now I know it’s not acting every time he’s cast as a brainless meatstick.

Can they force her to give it back? I don’t know much about publishing, but I thought that at least with books they didn’t generally do that.
I misread that as “boobs” and assumed that you were talking about Carrie Prejean’s legal issues with the Californian beauty-pageant organisers.
Maybe I’m missing something but why are they combining the words “the” and “social” in “thesocial contract” is this some wingnut dogwhistle writing thing like “algore” or something?
As it also happens on ‘oursocial contract’, it looks to me that a global search and replace has been used to replace something with ‘social contract’. Probably ‘pinky-swears to Jesus’ or something similar.
My guess is that the Randians were the marginalized ones in high school who ended up reading Atlas Shrugged and/or The Fountainhead and said “Fuck it, someday I’ll make everyone pay for holding me down and not recognizing my awesome talents!” Now, most of those types go off to college and drink beer and get laid and realize Rand is dumber than box of fucking rocks, but the ones who don’t? We need to watch out for them. You can either be a fan of Catcher in the Rye and rail against the phonies, or you can read Rand and become one. You can’t be a fan of both.
“homespun common sense,” it ought to be “gitchew sum,” and you don’t say “fixin’ to” enough. HTH.
