Shorter Amy “Jack Abramoff’s BFF” Ridenour, News Blusters
Andrew Sullivan, Domestic Foreigner
- When I was visiting a friend in London once, I answered her phone. It was a pollster asking about British elections. I told him I was an American instead of putting on a British accent and telling him that I was voting for Maggie Thatcher. So where does that British poofter Andrew Sullivan get off writing stuff about American politics? What, you mean Mark Steyn is Canadian? Get out of town. Even if he is Canadian, it’s not the same thing because conservative Canadians are honorary Americans.
‘Shorter’ concept created by Daniel Davies and perfected by Elton Beard. We are aware of all Internet traditions.™
Even if he is Canadian, it’s not the same thing because conservative Canadians are honorary Americans.
Nah, they just wish they were, OH NO I DI’NT
Is she aware of Orly Taints?
By the way, not to be looksist, but Amy? Push away from the table before dessert now and then…
Canadians coming here to take valuable wingnut-welfare jobs away from Real Americans should be forced to avail themselves of “the greatest healthcare system in the world” on their own dime rather than benefiting from that Evil North-Of-The-Border Socialism. It’s only fair..
So Andrew Sullivan badthink doubleplusungood unperson, pretty much?
Did Sullivan swing with the prevailing winds again? I don’t read his blog because it’s shit and boring, but I keep hearing his name with less than complete derision heaped upon his head.
I would respect him more but I have a problem with people who appear to change their minds just because prevailing opinion is changing, and not because they actually believe a god-damned word they say.
Slippy, I’m with you. I still don’t trust that Huffington slattern or David Brock.
Even if he is Canadian, it’s not the same thing because conservative Canadians are honorary Americans.
Believe me, you are welcome to them – when can you pick Stephen Harper up? Or should we box him up and ship him?
Sully’s been making some good noises on a lot of fronts, but I don’t think he’s in the club yet. I’m not sure he even wants to be, despite his rampant Obot-ism.
For example, on the health care front:
Not-Really-Shorter D-KW:
Sully? Fuck him and his Ownership Libertarian Bullshit. Ridenour’s deranged droolnigs are your reward for finding Cheney teh sex-ay. Reap the xenophobic whirlwind you limey bastard.
But I kept my opinions to myself and told the pollster, that, as I am an American, I have no business influencing Britain’s internal political processes as if I were a British subject.
So…that whole Iraq war…stupid, right?

empowering patients to seek better coverage with better value and providing the tools to help them make informed decisions
But, when you really get down to it, isn’t NOT making informed decisions pretty nuch the entire basis of American-style capitalism?
when can you pick Stephen Harper up? Or should we box him up and ship him?
The latter, ’cause he’ll keep, won’t he? I mean, just look at him.
Did she mention that Sullivan is not a Murkin citizen, not for lack of trying, but only because (a) he’s HIV positive and, (b) his ghey marriage does not entitle him to citizenship?
Okay, dumb question, far more important than having naturalization laws that offer basic fucking decency and equal rights is the need to have faggy-sounding Obama supporters STFU.
DISCLAIMER: None of the above should be taken as an endorsement of Andrew Sullivan’s views, commentary, or dining habits. Neither Ted the Slacker, nor any or his friends, family or associates take any responsibility for brainless bloodthirsty war-mongering, archfuck stupid conspiracy theories, obtuse stupidity, general bitchiness, or the random awarding of awards of Andrew Sullivan.
Because she didn’t lie to a pollster while she was on vacation, a guy who has lived here for umpteen years should shut up already? She doesn’t really get the whole free speech thing, does she? Maybe there’s a Constitutional Rehab…
providing the tools to help them make informed decisions.
The stupidity of this argument never ceases to amaze me. In the healthcare sphere, “providing the tools”, literally, means either training every citizen as a doctor, or making sure every citizen has access to a doctor.
There’s nothing in between, because “making informed decisions” when you are sick or injured means relying on a medical professional. And for all of us non-doctors, assuming none of us have perfect foresight, that means needing comprehensive health coverage, because none of us have a fucking clue what medical care we will need and when.
Grateful immigrants should just STFU and not criticize the government. Except when there’s a Democrat in the White House – why isn’t Andrew Sullivan joining us in calling the President a MuslimofascosocialistKenyan?
Ted FTW! Nicely pointed out.
I’m guessing that Amy has a painful little gas bubble at the thought of His Shrillness being the most influential pundit around. Of course that list was silly!
“Making informed decisions” is more a matter of taking steps now that will affect your healthcare consequences in the future. So for starters, make sure you get hired by a company that offers a good coverage plan. This means taking the time to do your homework about the benefits packages various employers in your field offer, but don’t you think your health is worth a little advance research before you go accepting job-offers from just anyone? Of course, this also means learning about the relative strengths and weaknesses of the insurance providers that are out there, as well as the range of plans each one provides. The most competitive plans are available for the best jobs, naturally, which means choosing a career that will give you a better choice of employers, and therefore, of insurance packages. How many people are foolish enough not to choose highly in-demand careers, and then end up complaining that no good health plans are available? Plan ahead, people! A lot of this has to do with where you live: not every insurere does business in every state. In fact, some states only have one or two providers available at all! Naturally, you will want to avoid having to live in one of those states. It is your responsibility to find out what states have limited choices, or are likely to have choices limited in the future, and if you already live there, move away now. How hard is that? This may involve pulling up stakes you have established over years or even generations; you may even have to convince other members of your family to move also, and you might all need completely different jobs, careers, educations or even life-callings, but hey, this is your precious health we’re talking about here. Don’t you think it’s worth making a few adjustments to your short-term plans in order to secure access to good, reliable medical care, at least for as long as you can hold on to your job?
Wonderful! I had absolutely no use for Andy until now. That his very existence is enough to boil Amy Wide’nsour’s blood kicks his value up a bit.
Widehouse, more like.
When Amy sits around the House, 535 Members are overwhelmed by the odor of decaying livestock and produce trapped in Amy’s folds of fat.
Don’t make me come over there. . .
Thank you for not photoshopping a toilet this time.
Whatever happened to that Adam Yo-something feller? Seem to recall he was a Canuck o’ some description…
As a Canadian interfering in US affairs like Sully, I’ll just say that there is no bright line of domestic to international politics. Dozens of US domestic policy decisions have international implications, particularly on Canada. I stick my nose in because it’s my world too, and 60,000,000 Republican voters shouldn’t get to fuck up the whole place without at least hearing some criticism from the rest of us who don’t get any legal say, but have to endure the consequences.
And to the extent that Canadian decisions affect America, I don’t resent Americans offering opinions. When we legalized Gay marriage, our MPs were deluged with letters from US religious conservatives opposing it. Captain Ed Morrisey was happy to violate our elections results publication blackout (that prevents results from the east coast being broadcast in the West until polls have closed).
I wouldn’t lie to pollsters or break any US laws regarding donating money to causes or candidates, but I feel no shame in speaking up.
“When we legalized Gay marriage, our MPs were deluged with letters from US religious conservatives opposing it. Captain Ed Morrisey was happy to violate our elections results publication blackout (that prevents results from the east coast being broadcast in the West until polls have closed).”
That’s different. Special Ed is an AMERICAN dammit!
Remind me of this article the next time a right-winger quotes de Tocqueville.
Honestly, why should the left care what that fucking Bell Curve pushing douche thinks?
Glenn Greenwald is plain wrong to link to Sully. I don’t care if he’s good on torture, he’s racist.
But I kept my opinions to myself and told the pollster, that, as I am an American, I have no business influencing Britain’s internal political processes as if I were a British subject..
That said, I don’t at all mind saying that Muslim governments don’t appreciate us more and should be all kilt and replaced by force.
Even if he is Canadian, it’s not the same thing because conservative Canadians are honorary Americans.
Steyn would move to the US but he can’t resist our public health care plan.
Huh! I pretended to be English once here in the USA, when a pollster called me. Oh, good times, good times. My Dad used to pretend to be retarded when phone solicitors called. that’s about it.
“[C]onservative Canadians are honorary Americans.”
Just as conservative Americans are always eager to confer honorary foreignness on liberal Americans (“Go back to Russia!”).
