Our countries aren’t that different, really
Posted on June 16th, 2009 by Brad
One of the Iranian Moussavi supporters I’m following on Twitter just sent the following update:
The government now saying our protests was in support of ahmadynezhad in state TV right now! these guys are unbelievable!
This sort of thing is more common than you think, dude:
And yeah, that’s an actual 2006 campaign sign from current RNC chairman Michael Steele.
UPDATE: Anyone else consider that this was McCain’s way of preemptively showing solidarity with the Iranian dissidents last summer?
Wolverines Wolvergreens, baby!
Dickishness know no country.
Y’know, I wonder how the RNC elected Michael Steele thinking they were getting a competent chairman with good ideas and good ideology, and managed to forget that debacle of a campaign he ran in Virginia.
I wonder how the RNC elected Michael Steele thinking
The “thinking” part of this wrecks your whole premise from its inception.
The “thinking” part of this wrecks your whole premise from its inception.
Sadly, nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnyes.
How do you know they didn’t mean Remington Steele? You know these Hollywood types.
How do you know they didn’t mean Remington Steele? You know these Hollywood types.
Or Sydney? Or Riley? Or Hardas? Or Dick?
Prediction: The Iranian government will declare that Moussavi is ineligible to become president because he was actually born in Hawaii to a mother from Kansas.
I’m so proud we’re spreading democracy, Amurcan-style.
We talked about the old times
And we drank ourselves some beers,
Steele Democrat, after all these years.
“The Iranian government will declare that Moussavi is ineligible to become president because he was actually born in Hawaii to a mother from Kansas.”
Also, secretly educated in Vacation Bible School, at age 11 forced to baptize another boy, in keeping with Christian tradition.

Also, secretly educated in Vacation Bible School, at age 11 forced to baptize another boy, in keeping with Christian tradition.
Also sent a secret “Merry Christmas” message to America.
Also refuses to reveal his birth certificate.
Also supported secular humanist plans for a War on Ramadan.
Apparently somebody forgot to tell the Iranians that with foreign media being ejected en masse from the country, of course state media is going to say the protesters are there supporting the regime.
Not only that, our useless media is going to parrot the Iranian State TV line because they WANT to push the meme that The Faceless Islamofascist Horde, Tehran Division loves Ahmadinejad.
Iranians aren’t human, after all. They’re just collateral damage when we bomb the crap out of their country.
Silly Iranians. Truth is for kids.
TEH STUPID is global.
I dont know if I should feel better that we are not alone in that, or worse.
To be fair, there actually is a Pro-Ahmadinejad rally and it drew tens of thousands.
http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/world/la-fg-iran-protests17-2009jun17,0,2676845.story
Incidentally, here’s a link to get the feel of what the concurrent Anti-Ahmadinejad rally is like:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice/news/2009/06/090616_iran_16june_sl.shtml
So, the pathetic misinformation from the State-run teevee news guys is more like this:
http://voices.washingtonpost.com/44/2008/07/24/as_obama_visits_germany_mccain.html
Also, ironically, has the middle-name “Hussain”.
Also secretly fathered by David Ben-Gurion.
Additionally.
I see a set with Iranian flags waving on flat screens, Red with and green
and a pretty blond woman in a burka, chattering with 3 or 4 men talking about the news of day and how the people support the president, and the few people who dont are librals.
They could call it Farsi and Friends
A reminder: The McCain campaign whipped out Johnny-Mac-On-Green the same night Obama was giving his essential victory speech in Minnesota, in front of an arena packed with supporters. They thought this was a good idea.
To be fair, there actually is a Pro-Ahmadinejad rally and it drew tens of thousands.
Right, DKW, there is, the trouble is the state-run station is ONLY covering the Ahmadinejad rallies.
And you know who else rallies, besides Iranians?
MOOSLIMS!
The fact is, Ahmadinejad won Iran’s Heartland fair and square.
Mousavi is secretly a Muslim.
Also remember that green behind McCain wasn’t just green-screen, it was a photo of Walter Reed – that is, Walter Reed Middle School in North Hollywod, instead of Walter Reed Medical Center as they had intended.
so nostalgic for McCain FAIL.
No need to be nostalgic for McCain FAIL. Fresh supplies are being squeezed out daily!
I always thought Moussavi was Greek or maybe Turkish. Lamb, eggplant, all very Greeky Turklish ingredients.
I always thought Moussavi was Greek or maybe Turkish. Lamb, eggplant, all very Greeky Turklish ingredients.
Thank goodness his name wasn’t spank-a-pita.
You guys’ll take any Opa-ning to pun. Itsa painful to my gyros.
The Second Law of Teh Stupid states it is constantly increasing. Any intelligent engine can only perform work by increasing the stupidity of the system overall. In the end the entire universe will be completely stupid and we will suffer a stupid death.
Just give up now and it’ll be easier.
You guys’ll take any Opa-ning to pun. Itsa painful to my gyros.
So sue, flackey…
The fact is that Obama is more obsessed with socialist health care than freedom for Iranians.
That being said, the obsession with meaningless symbolism from the college kid supporters of this movement is ridiculous. Green pages, changing your location and timezone, and so on.
A matchup between a bunch of activist college students and the Iranian dictatorship isn’t fair. But if that’s the matchup, the dictatorship will win and the blood will be on Barack Hussein Obama’s hands.
If your gyros are inflamed you should probably have them looked at. They can remove them ya know. Sure it can be painful but there are good drugs for that.
They could call it Farsi and Friends
Not to mention that hard-liner blowhard Bilal-o-Rasani and the Allahu Akbar Zone.
That being said, the obsession with meaningless symbolism from the college kid supporters of this movement is ridiculous.
You mean college kids, like the ones who helped Obama get elected, are meaningless?
Sure it can be painful but there are good drugs for that.
A whole shwarma them, in fact.
A whole shwarma them, in fact.
But you will falafel for a while.
But you will falafel for a while.
That’s a steaming pile of tabouli!
Obama was elected due to the big money of the far left and ACORN fraud. A bunch of far left college leeches had nothing to do with the Obama election.
At least the college kids in Iran are fighting for freedom. The swishy leftist college dorks in this country only fight for cheap coffee.
Mousavi will have to prove himself as stronger than Morgan Tsvangirai. But ideally, Iran should be run by someone like Reza Pahlavi.
Notice how the Shah abdicated at the first sign of protest, but the current regime is murdering thousands and refusing to leave? You all think that the Shah is worse than the Ayatollahs now?
Finally the wingers have somebody they really can look up to and respect. Too bad he’s the elected leader of Iran.
LOL Ruppert, seven demonstrators does not = “thousands.”
The protesters are doing an awesome job on their own — they don’t need the US military
7 is the official number given by the Iranian government. It’s no surprise that you eat it up.
But the reports I read mention many dead activists in dorms, on the streets, and many imprisoned.
Twitter is proving to be useful for once.
A bunch of far left college leeches had nothing to do with the Obama election.
So they voted for McCain which makes McCain and therefore every conservative who voted for him, a liberal?
Why do you hate America so in the Heartland, then, Gary?
Mousavi will have to prove himself as stronger than Morgan Tsvangirai. But ideally, Iran should be run by someone like Reza Pahlavi.
Notice how the Shah abdicated at the first sign of protest
So why didn’t Bush resign when millions of Americans protested the war?
“You all think that the Shah is worse than the Ayatollahs now?” Well, Gary, Mohammed Mossadegh would have been better than either of the clowns you mentioned, if only the CIA had been able to stay out of the way.
Twitter is proving to be useful for once.
Ruppert, don’t even talk to me about Twitter. I’ve been following Iranian Moussavi supporters on Twitter for weeks now. I’ve been RTing all the best info they give out for others to see, helping them attract hackers for proxy sites and so forth. so please, homey, stfu.
The fact is, Obama’s in the White House. Take that fascist!
(Been wanting to say that for months.)
“How do you know they didn’t mean Remington Steele? You know these Hollywood types.” The RNC would have looked a lot more hep if they’d picked Lexington Steele.
Aww. Real Gary showed up. Abort! Abort!
More Americans support the war than oppose it, and only a few thousand protested. While millions protested on the streets of Tehran and many reports state that Mousavi won.
And Brad, what is your twitter username. My name is TheGaryRuppert
More Americans support the war than oppose it, and only a few thousand protested. While millions protested on the streets of Tehran and many reports state that Mousavi won.
So Mousavi beat the Shah?!?!??!? Gary, do you even HEAR what you read when you type? I know it must be hard, breathing through the mouth and all, and mumbling the words as you right them, but you know, you can stop before you hit the post button…
And Gary? The minority of Iranians supported the Ayatollah, according to American intelligence at the time.
http://twitter.com/bwreed
Ruppert, just searched for you couldn’t find you. Liar. Anyway that’s my actual Twitter page.
Why has there been nothing but silence from President McCain?
OK, Rupps, I found you: http://twitter.com/TheGaryRuppert
You have a total of THREE tweets so far:
-Obama’s just jealous that the Iranian govt is doing what he wants to do to America #iranelection
-socialist health care… because putting your life in the hands of big govt is a smart idea
-BH Obama’s lack of action on Iran says alot. He’s too busy trying to pitch socialist hc to care about Iranian freedom fighters #IranElection
None of them mention the Iranians except as a way to trash Obama. You don’t actually give a shit about them — you just want to use them as human shields to bludgeon the Enemy At Home.
Twitter is proving to be useful for once.
Did Gary just mock official Republican policy to encourage the use of Twitter????
A government-sponsored piece attacking Hashemi Rafsanjani:
http://ncr-iran.org/content/view/6477/1/
Funny that the hardliners in Iran are using the same “dissent is treason” and fake “heartland” rural populism bits that the hardliners in the U.S. use. Why, one might begin to suspect that the ultra-nationalist shitbags need one another to keep their dying show on the road…
Say it with me now: Ahmadinabush.
That’s one of the reasons THE CIA DUN IT is not very helpful: in the past attacks on the current regime were denounced as CIA plots, and they were small enough that who the hell knew, right?
Much harder to blame the CIA when granny is bringing food to the protesters.
But the reports I read
Gary’s reading about Iran. Right.
McCain: “We should meddle with Iran big time!”
via Sully:
McCain sez, Iran but I didn’t win.
Also from Sexpig Sully, http://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com/the_daily_dish/2009/06/grand-ayatollah-montazeri-takes-a-stand.html
Hee hee!
Gary is so hep with the heppy kids heppy e-things.
Top 7 Conservative New Media FAILS So Far this Year.
Gary has left cognitive dissonance way behind. He’s onto cognitive trissonance now, or even worse.
The President has taken his push for government-run health care on the road, as he was in Chicago yesterday, making an attempt to convince the AMA to reverse its opposition to government-run health care. CPR’s Chairman Rick Scott, writing for The Washington Post, emphasizes the increasing need for competition, and the danger of embracing a government-run plan.
The Congressional Budget Office has scored Sen. Ted Kennedy’s (D-MA) health plan and is estimating that the plan will cost $1 trillion and only marginally reduce the number of uninsured Americans.
Obama’s plan is threatening the care of seniors, still has no clear means of financing, and now it seems that his plan is losing support on the Hill. Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-CT) has confirmed that he is not supporting a government-run plan, and Sen. Kent Conrad (D-ND) does not believe that a government-run plan will make it through the Senate.
Why should we spend trillions of dollars in taxpayer money to “fix” a system that already works well for more than 250 million Americans?
Do we really want to have waiting lists, government quotas, government rationing, and doctors fleeing the country like they do in Canada? Look at what happened to Natasha Richardson.
Do we want to be told what doctor to choose? Do we want buearucrats in Washington telling us what procedures are “approved” and what aren’t? What will happen when our doctors office and hospital is run in the like IRS, DMV, and Post Office?
“The doctor will see you……EVENTUALLY!”
I have learned something from this thread: My gyros are sadly inflamed.
I’m going to go take the good drugs they have for my condition before I develop cognitive trissonance.
Why should we spend trillions of taxpayer dollars to “fix” a system that works well for over 250 million Americans?
My gyros are sadly inflamed.
My hovercraft is full of eels.
Why should we spend trillions upon trillions in taxpayer dollars to “fix” a system that isn’t broken?
The health care we have now is the best in the world and works for 250 million Americans. We don’t want government waiting lists and our hospitals run like the DMV, IRS, and Post Office. Not to mention Fannie and Freddie.
People in Canada and Britain die on government waiting lists every year due to rationing. Do we want that here?
The DMV, IRS, and Post Office are all run quite efficiently. Much more so than any health insurance company I’ve ever dealt with.
Is tired.
I renewed my license (and changed my address) last November. In and out in 15 minutes. Boo, government scary!
Just look at what happened to Natasha Richardson under single-payer, libs.
Surgeons don’t like to work pro-bono.
Just look at what happened to Natasha Richardson under single-payer, libs.
Right, cuz you know, she would never have been more than 50 feet from a trauma ward in Vermont under the HMOs…*snort*
UPS will deliver a letter from one of their stores all the way across the country to my friend’s house in less than a week for $33.
The Post Office will do it for forty-four cents, and they’ll pick it up at my house.
The health care we have now is the best in the world and works for 250 million Americans.
Really?
Why are we ranked just behind Cuba and just ahead of Bulgaria in terms of life expectancy?
Just look what happened to Sonny Bono under U.S. health care, cons.
Surgeons aren’t miracle workers no matter what country they’re in.
BILLIONS OF IRANIAN CHRISTIANS WERE MURDERED LAST NIGHT AS THEY TRIED TO WARN THE JEWS ABOUT PRO-HITLER MILITIAS PREPARING TO PERFORM COUNTLESS LATE-TERM ABORTIONS ON THE OPPOSITION. IRAN IS A FAILED STATE THAT NEEDS U.S. MILITARY SUPPORT AND HALLIBURTON SUPPLIED WATER AND SHOWERS.
Liffe Expectancy isn’t the only measure .
What about quality of care? What about choosing your own doctor? What about government waiting lists?
There is an unlimited demand for healthcar, but a limited supply. The end result when it is “universal”? Soviet-style price controls, rationing, waiting lists, fewer people becoming doctors because of lowered profits, and an exodus of the best doctors from the country for the same reason.
Want to lower health care costs? Start by going after the big trial laywers. We need Tort Reform NOW!
There is an unlimited demand for healthcar, but a limited supply.
Unlimited: I don’t think it means what you think it means.
BTW, the millions of illegals in this country and inner city gangs bring down our life expectancy and drives up infant mortality, NOT our health care system.
Immigration reform: another way to get health care costs under control.
You know what I heard drives up health care costs? Gays, abortion, and gun control.
Out-of-control health care costs are also Bill Clinton’s fault.
Oh yeah, and illegal aliens and “trial lawyers.”
Wait, did I do those already?
The death tax is the single greatest cause of out-of-control health care costs.
Also, card check. Causes high health care costs.
Privatizing Social Security would bring down health care costs, as would abolishing the EPA.
Activist judges who legislate from the bench. High etc.
TAXES ARE THE BIGGEST COST OF HEALTH CARE.
Obamassiah Sotomayor Taxed Enough Already VAULT COPY
OH SHIT I CAN’T STOP
If we increased the number of abortions, health care costs would go down.
Hitler hated abortions and gun control.
McCain won because
TrDoofus said so.The only reason capitalism failed us in the last year is because George Bush was a secret Liberal plant and actually enacted wave after wave of Lib-based laws.
The health care we have now is the best in the world and works for 250 million Americans.
Too bad we have 300 million Americans in this country.
Does Tired Troll never tire of name-jacking other people’s websites?
If you don’t trust your government to reform health care, how can it be trusted to reform immigration?
managed to forget that debacle of a campaign he ran in Virginia.
Maryland != northern Virginia.
Health Care, which includes Dentistry, is THEFT!
Also, since lie-berals lurve themselves Universal Single Payer Public Option so much that they want to gay-marry it, I’ve just proven that theft is inherently lestift.
Plus, PENIS, also, and furthermore, &c.
a secret Liberal plant
I get the munchies just thinking about it!
If you don’t trust your government to reform health care, how can you trust it to handle nuclear weapons? Also.
In fairness, Cuba’s life expectancy is skewed because so many elderly Cubans are hanging on just long enough to finally see Castro die. In medical circles, we call this “The Simeon Effect.” There was a similar phenomenon in England with Brits waiting for Thatcher to step down or die. Likewise, there will be a wave of deaths in the United States when Favre finally plays his last game.
IDENTITY is THEFT!
Yes! Privatize nuclear weapons NOW!
Government-owned nuclear weapons are THEFT! And look how bad Canada is with them.
My HMO cares about my best interest first and foremost. I don’t want no gubbmint burr-cat making my health care decisions. Gubbmint burr-cats care about one thing and one thing only: Saving taxpayer dollars by denying coverage. A gubbmint job is a cutthroat industry unlike private sector insurance jobs with their fancy pensions and job security.
The REAL Gary Ruppert was here! Why didn’t any of you guys Twitter me! The fact that I don’t have a twitter account and I wouldn’t trust you with it if I did is a pretty lame excuse.
Y’know, I wonder how the RNC elected Michael Steele thinking they were getting a competent chairman with good ideas and good ideology, and managed to forget that debacle of a campaign he ran in Virginia
He actually ran it in Maryland. As a Marylander, I wish he had run it in Virginia.
Alan Keyes also ran for Senate in Maryland – Lucky us
I kn hz Shrtr Hind Rizzy:
I farted at breakfast this morning. It got me thinking: When an Iranian runs out of milk, does he go to next-door Iraq to ask for some? They’re all Arabs after all.
Argh! Wrong thread!
I want a burr-cat, they sound cute as all heck.
They are tigrismus, they are. In fact they are cuter than all heck.
http://www.facebook.com/people/Izzie-Burr-Cat/742995256
Funny thing, I made up the word and just now Googled it. She is kinda cute though isn’t she?
America spends twice as much as other countries do on medical care and we have the same outcome as places that don’t worship the private healthcare system.
Bookmark this, cons!
u hz d-famed mi honr & i challenzh u to dule.
Who would you rather have make your insurance decisions, an HMO or a Burr-cat. That cute kitten would never deny coverage unless you were a dog or something.
Does all that make Maryland the thinking man’s Minnesota?

The fact is that Obama is more obsessed with socialist health care than freedom for Iranians.
Just gotta chime in and say that’s high-quality Garyness right there. Silly old Obama, prioritising his own country’s health care over furrners!
And I think a health system run by Izzy Burr-cat would be purrfect. After all, cats sleep about 16 hours a day, and that’s really something to aspire to. Plus (mine at least) they don’t work, have slaves to provide food and patting. I’m sure a cat-run health-care system would mandate that as the epitome of health care.
Set me them KPIs right bloody now!
What about quality of care? What about choosing your own doctor? What about government waiting lists?
Errrrrrrrrr, not for nothing, but it seems to me that “quality of care” is directly related to “life expectancy” and Americans pay more per capita for medical care than the next two nations (Japan and Sweden) combined.
And yet, we ain’t even top ten in life expectancy. We’re barely on the Casey Kasem Countdown of life expectancy and sinking faster than Britney Spears last three albums.
So if we accept your idiotic thought that somehow choosing your own doctor or waiting lists will be issues (and they will not be), I’d gladly trade those in for the reassurance that I’ll actually BE healthier in the future.
There is an unlimited demand for healthcar, but a limited supply. The end result when it is “universal”?
I think it is universal by your own definition. When demand is infinite, it requires a large structure in place to cover it. That can only be provided by a government, the only entity with the resources to truly cover everyone.
Tort reform?
That would lower my premiums by less than 6%. You want to really lower healthcare costs? Take the profit motive out of my body and my life. That’s 30% of the HMOs right there, nevermind the AMA.
BTW, the millions of illegals in this country and inner city gangs bring down our life expectancy and drives up infant mortality
Yea, you just keep believing that….
Say it with me now: Ahmadinabush.
Get with the times: Limbaughdinejad.
OMG INNER CITY GANGS ARE KILLING ALL THE BABIES!
I think it only prudent at this juncture to remember that “we are all Georgians now!” and “We begin bombing Russia in 5 minutes.” And that my friends is….
Wait a minute, what are we talking about again?
