Michael Totten has what looks like a solid lead on Juan Cole (Informed Comment) in the Middle East/Africa category. Might be worth a look.

I can never really figure out whether to ignore these sham awards or to vote diligently to at least influence the outcome somewhat. I tend to end up voting every other day, which is probably the least effective approach possible.

Sorry to say, but Jon Swift doesn’t even come close to deserving any blog awards. I’ve read a few hilarious posts of his, but they were years ago, and he posts maybe once a month, if we’re lucky. Seriously, if he wants this vote, he’ll have to do some actual work to get it. (And if he doesn’t, that’s not my problem.) Jon Swift specifically doesn’t even compare to Sadly, No!, which is *actually* a decent funny blog (though I’m not sure if one could call it a “humor” blog since it serves an important function in keeping an eye on Wingnutistan, but you guys know your own genre), or Jesus’ General, also a decent funny blog. Given how rarely Jon Swift posts things, it’s not worth the click on my bookmark.
