It would be ridiculous if anyone were to cast a sympathy vote for Obama because of this. My theory is that for every sympathy vote, there will be another voter who compensates by NOT casting a sympathy vote. Good afternoon liberals, I’ve just finished watching a pretty good movie on cox in demand, called The Last Supper.

Now what’s interesting about this film, is that unlike most Hollywood films, it actually portrays the liberals as the villians. The plot of this film is about five liberal grad students who decide to invite prominent conservatives to their home for dinner, and murder them by serving them poisioned wine.

It begins when one of the liberals car breaks down, and a passing truck driver gives him a ride home. Once home, the liberals seemingly in good faith invite the man inside to have dinner. Once dinner starts the liberals start chomping down their food and the man sits there and exclaims, “aren’t you all forgeting something.” Then the liberals ask
“what could we possibly be forgeting.” Then the man replies, “You forgot to say Grace.” Then one of the liberals snidely remarks, “We don’t say Grace here.” During the course of the dinner conversation, the audience finds out that the man was in fact a war hero who served in the First Gulf War, and is very conservative. The liberals then go on to mock the man’s service to his country, and one of them even goes so far as to call the man a Nazi. So the man, quite possibly overeacts, which is understandable given his service to his Country and gets one of the liberals in a choke hold. A fight ensues when another liberal got his arm injured by the enraged war hero. One of the liberals them proceeds to stab the man to death.

After a brief arguement on what to do next, they then decide to bury the body in their vegtable garden. The film then takes a sinister turn, when they next decide to “do society a favor”, and start killing off conservatives, who they precieve to be the source of all the world’s evil. There first victim is a Christian Pastor, who they poison to death with arsonic induced wine. They end up doing this to ten prominent conservatives in all, inviting each of them over to their home for dinner, to dicuss politics. The film took an even more sinister turn, when the leader of the liberals, a man by the name of Luke, invited a 17 year old school girl, who opposed sex education being taught a the school. He was about to kill her, insisting on offering her the poisioned wine, even after she told him, she doesn’t drink. Apparently, this was too much for the other liberals, who then escorted the girl out of the house.

Luke even goes so far as to murder a Sherrif’s Deputy who was on to what they were doing. Then while at the airport, to of the liberals run into a very prominent Rush Limbaugh-esque conservative talk show host, and invite him over for dinner to murder him. It turns out however that the man is onto what they’ve been doing, and proceeds to tell them that he’s really not that “far right.” All of the liberals with the exception of Luke decide against killing the talk show host, who proves to be quite charming. So they argue about this in the other room, leaving their guest alone at the dinner table, where he in very Rush Limbaugh like fashion, smokes a cigar.

The liberals, after a brief but heated arguement in the other room, return to the dining room, already decided against killing the very charming conservative talk show host. The talk show host, then precieves to offer a toast to the liberals, who then ask if he’ll be sharing a drink with them. He declines, saying he’s already drank too much. It turns out, that the heroic conservative talk show host, ends up tricking the murderous liberals, and poisons them to death instead. Thus avenging his murdered collegues.

Excellent film, which believe it or not portrays the liberals as villianous and cowardly and the conservatives as smart, moral and heroic. Excellent for a change given Hollywood’s usual leftwing bias.

I for one was going to vote for Obama, but now that someone said that someone might vote for Obama out of sympathy, I need to compensate and NOT cast a sympathy.

Dammit, I had my money on Malkin’s commenters batting in the lead off spot.

They probably meant ‘immunity totem’, which is a doodad that contestants on the TV show ‘Survivor’ can win. It prevents them from being voted off the show. (I have no idea why I know this; I have never watched a single episode.)

As for the rest of it, I’m as lost as you are, sorry.

It’s really appalling. You know what else is appalling? That it’s not surprising.

After reading that post on the Free Republic, I’d have to say as usual they were nothing but respectful about this unfortunate tragedy.

You liberals like to mock the Free Republic, well, when Ted Kennedy was sent to the hospital for brain cancer, there were many prayers for him to recover, from myself included. All disrespectful comments were swiftly and promptly deleted by the Free Republic management.

Compare that to the Daily Kos when Tony Snow died. You can’t because there was no comparison.

Although I am a murderous liberal, I happen to find “The Last Supper” to be awesome and hilarious.

Although I agree with Rugged Montana on this (and only this) point, it makes me sad every time I encounter anyone who filters their appreciation of any art through their personal political lens.

I also feel sorry for “Rugged” because he clearly missed the underlying irony of the ending to the film. You see, the “murderous liberals” decide to kill conservatives after a discussion in which they all agree that it would be the right thing to do to kill Hitler when he was still just an artist. They justify each murder on the grounds that the conservative was the next Hitler.

The irony comes in at the end when they decide not to kill “Rush Limbaugh,” he murders them, and as the credits roll, there is a voice over of him announcing his bid for the presidency to a cheering crowd. The implication being that he would, in fact, become the next Hitler.

Of course, irony died sometime in early 2002, so Rugged’s error (if he isn’t a parody himself) is completely understandable.

Just heard meathead Michael Medved (“V as in victory,” he said, when spelling his name for the discount box on whatever gawd-awful product website he was shilling!) claim that somehow (who knows what he was refering to, but one of the Freepers above mentions it as well) there is a failure by the Obama campaign to reveal that Ms. Dunham was >Gasp!!< a vice president of the Bank of Hawai’i, & this reveals how little we know about Obama & his background!!

As if anyone knows much about a candidate’s parents, or in this case grandparent who raised him as her own child. Oh, wait, seems that Reagan’s father was a drunk, if not an abusive drunk. What does that tell us? And hasn’t it been said that John Sidney McCain III’s (Not an elitist!) immediate paternal ancestor was a booze-hound as well? Hmmm.

But the big question for these rabid weasels is really “Who taught Obama to love AmeriKKKa?” Consider that, as if one is not beaten over the head w/ socializing (Not socialist!) propaganda 24/7 in This Great Nation of Ours.

Geezis Hussein Christ, when will it stop?

I think we should acknowledge that there were some respectful comments on there – not many but some.

However to this guy who said this:
Cancer patients usually pass away from a planned terminal sedation.
This may be the first politically timed terminal sedation ever, though.

I have got to give a big FUCK YOU. If this were the case, my mother wouldn’t have suffered so terribly for the last month of her life.

There was much discussion here when Obama went for his final visit a few weeks ago. Several people predicted this very scenario.

they predicted a woman on her deathbed would die? excellent work, folks!

Such passivity! Such negativity! Rather than complaining about how this will benefit Obama, can’t these people come up with something positive, like arranging for an equally tragic death for McCain’s mother? I mean, it is better to light a candle than to curse the darkness, and all that.
Unless you happen to like cursing the darkness.
Feckin’ Darkness. I hate glam retro bands.

Does anyone else find it odd that this happened the same day that McCain flew into Roswell, NM?

Is it possible that liberal aliens timed Mrs. Dunham’s untimely demise to garner earthling sympathy, in retribution for McCain’s Roswell visit?

(It pains my inner middle child to say it, but you guys who haven’t figured out the capitalization thing are officially As Dumb As The Truth.)

There is, in fact, an alternative explanation.

If you spent years talking UNIX to beige boxes, writing c-shell and sql by hand and painstakingly formatting troff documents without a wysiwyg preview, you would not only understand, you might fall victim to it yourself…

Hey Joke Line, you wonder why lefties bash you for being a hacktacular asshole?

Word comes that Barack Obama’s grandmother has died. The timing is ridiculous.

Fuck You Joe Klein.

Several people predicted this very scenario.
Several other people complained WHY ISN’T SHE DEAD YET?! and reckoned that the whole business was a beat-up to garner sympathy. Between them they covered the bases.

On the freeper page, below the story:

TOPICS: News/Current Events; US: Hawaii
KEYWORDS: antichrist; birthcertificate; dunham; elections; euthanasia; hawaii; lastwitness; mccain; murder; obama; obamafamily; obituary; octobersurprise; pulltheplug; timingisuspicious

Don’t the editors of the site select the keywords?? I expect to hear a DailyKos-Huffington Post style diatribe from BillO on this . . .shortly after he joins NOW and donates his salary to the ACLU.

“Best” comment from the freepi (actually a comment and ditto):

Damn those people are sick bastards……

Is it too early to start celebrating America’s crushing repudiation of these horrible, horrible people?

Yes. Yes, it is too early. We around these parts won’t breathe easy again before at least 24 hours or so have gone by.

By the way, I’ve always loved your nym, Mr. Nut-Speaking Airline Passenger Guy.

So Michelle and the LGFers are deleteing comments right and left, eh? Why? Trying to put lipstick on the pig that is their audience? I find that very very funny.

I’m particularly surprised at LGF. I mean, these are the people who repeatedly brought you “Rachel Corrie = pancake, hur hur”. I haven’t really visited the site in years, nor have I seen it mentioned on leftie blogs much lately, but my impression was that they were truly the most vile, despicable site in the wingnutosphere. By far.

Someone watched some Cary Grant and Peter Lorre this Halloween.

D-K W: Holy Christ. Was there ANY point at all to that Joe Klein piece? I mean, totally WTF?

After reading that post on the Free Republic, I’d have to say as usual they were nothing but respectful about this unfortunate tragedy.

Hehindeedle. Just like when that guy they didn’t like had cancer, and they harrassed his hospital and delayed his treatment, and he died. Very respectful. You worthless cunt.

Howard University Law School might as well change their name to Kill Whitey Law School, because of that time the guy was there and he was all “kill whitey” and the huge crowd of people were all “yay Professor Kambon is our hero” and hoisted him up on their shoulders and brought him many fine gifts.

Conservatives are not like that, though — as Rush Limbaugh said: “I tell people don’t kill all the liberals. Leave enough so we can have two on every campus — living fossils — so we will never forget what these people stood for.” And there are a LOT of campuses, my liberal friends, so that is FAR from eliminationist.

It’s like people don’t know how to behave or react to ANYTHING anymore.

Folks like this never did (and they’ve been around the whole time). The Internet has allowed them to a) become visible and b) connect as a mutually-reinforcing group, but it’s not anything all that new.

Just like all the folks that haven’t a clue what the word “Socialism” means. They’ve always been there, it’s just now they have AOL.

Joe Klein,
.
First thank you for the post about Obama losing his grandmother. But I want to ask that you or someone on the Swampland roster expose the kinds of stuff that is said on right wing blogs. All this campaign season there have been false equivalencies given to explain away bad behavior by people at McCain-Palin rallys and to explain away some of the stuff that McCain surrogates have said. A frequent target of these false equivalencies is DailyKos.com. Now I blog at DailyKos and I can tell you that every once in a while commentors there get over the top. But never to the extent that I have seen on a regular basis at websites like redstate.org and freerepublic.com. I just ask that you read some of the comments on this post at freerepublic.com and if it sickens you as much as it sickens me then the next time you hear a conservative/republican complain about dailykos you cut them off and point to this WingNut site. I wish there was a way to expose the people behind these posts so their true nature can be seen by the public at large.

I think that was more a case of poor wording than conspiracy theorising. The rest of the article suggests he means “ridiculous” in the context of the absurdity of life, not unbelievable.

I had exactly the same reaction when I first read it though. And yes, Joe Klein is still a dick.

I think Klein was not saying “the timing is ridiculous” to mean “the timing was stage-managed”, just, you know, that it’s sort of like a cruel irony of fate. Plus there’s the whole Moses allusion thing (“to the Mountaintop”) that’s also an MLK reference.
“Ridiculous” is a poor choice of words, though, given that some people literally see it as PROOF! of CONSPIRACY!

(2) Wait for some other thread to shamelessly plagiarise it.

So, what’s everybody doin’ for tomorrow nite?

I got a text from a friend saying we should ‘do’ the election ‘Hunter Thompson style’; he didn”t really elaborate further than that. I can’t go because of work, but I think I actually don’t want to watch it – too tense and stressful, and the commentary and analysis will be too vapid and depressing. Now that I’ve had more time to reflect on it, Smut Clyde, I believe there was some discrepancies with the original translation.

Rugged posted, “There first victim is a Christian Pastor, who they poison to death with arsonic induced wine.”

However, he was clearly intending to report on the narrative habits of those who speak aloud the programs on television they are sesing as they flip the channels. Thus, the following is the correct translation: “There! First, Vice time. Jim’s Christopher Lloyd. Hooray! Bronson in Death Wish’; Arsenio induced whine.”

Today I found this in an otherwise boring article:

Too many cooks spoil the broth and the result is that grade inflation has exploded like a space rocket.

I particularly like the subgenius who said this one:

Cancer patients usually pass away from a planned terminal sedation. This may be the first politically timed terminal sedation ever, though.

This little turd has clearly never had contact with a patient who is dying of terminal cancer, nor even a freaking clue about medicine.

Having watched more than a few relatives die of cancer, I can tell you that, yes, they allow liberal use of pain meds in such cases, with the logic that you aren’t going to live long enough to have to worry about a morphine addiction, but that’s a far, far cry from killing people intentionally with an overdose.

The latter, of course, is the sort of thing done by Jack Kevorkian, which must wingnut assholes wouldn’t want any part of, since they think they understand the intersection of medicine and morality better than the patient, the family, or the doctor.

Sometimes, the pretzel logic these assclowns engage in leave you to wonder why their peabrains don’t explode.

Well, I seem to be coming down with something.

Last time I was sick I downloaded TWO WILL SMITH MOVIES. TWO!

Too many cooks spoil the broth and the result is that grade inflation has exploded like a space rocket.

That’s the biggest pile of awesome since the ‘boomerang glass-house stones’ wingnut lady a couple of months ago.

Last time I was sick I downloaded TWO WILL SMITH MOVIES. TWO!

That’s funny, because the last time I downloaded two Will Smith movies, I was violently sick.

(Joking, really. I quite liked I Am Legend. Because I suck.)

Couldn’t stand the last one, the Drunken Superhero one. I’ve even blocked the name out in my mind.

Mikey, once Virginia is called for Obama, that’s the ball game. Preznit wise.

After that, it’s a matter of rooting for various gooper scumbags and propositions to be sent to the dung heap, where they belong.

Proposition 8, Saxby Chambliss, etc.

Couldn’t stand the last one, the Drunken Superhero one. I’ve even blocked the name out in my mind.

Well I won’t make you relive the trauma by mentioning the name, but like a lot of people I really, really liked the first half, and thought the second half sucked hairy gorilla ballz. I mean, I really liked the first half, not in a “that-wasn’t-bad” sort of way, but actually liked it, and I rarely like anything. I think that made the second half, and therefore the movie as a whole, more galling.

Couldn’t stand the last one, the Drunken Superhero one.

Hancock. I liked the first half. It would have been better without the origin and so on. The other one I watched was I Am Legend and it was just too morose. In both the fast-talking from Smith was restricted and that was a relief, but obviously there are many thousands of better movies out there I could have chosen.

Oh, and I think Drunken Superhero would have been a much better title. I like to think that’s the title of the Chinese DVD version.

One of the reasons I’m not married is I’m such an asshole when I’m sick…

And yes, the freepers betray themselves… don’t they always accuse people of stuff they have either done, or wanted to do?

It’s tough to lose one’s last parent.

I’m only going to say this once, but I told you I’m only going to say this once. What I said was, once only am I going to say this. Can’t say again what I’m only going to say once, which is that I’m only going to say this. Once

Drunken Superhero was an even bigger hit than the other Will Smith blockbuster discussed above, Last Man On Earth Pursued By Vampires. But did you know that Will Smith was originally tapped to play the role of Neo in Life Is Computer Simulation, Machines Rule The Planet?

Sorry. Just making myself laugh.

I can’t believe I missed this amazing The-Democrats-Left-ME piece…

Wendy Button is voting for McCain because Democrats made fun of Joe the Plumber. Good sound thinking.

That was one weird article… but at least Button asks the question that needs to be asked:

Where’s the op-ed about how Obama tucks in his shirt when he plays basketball or how Senator Biden buttons the top button on his golf shirt?

Dragon-King Wangchuck

Perhaps. But FAIL.

Umm, my take on it was Joe the Klein thought that Barack’s grandmother dying was a great opportunity to get some purple prose in. I mean how often do you get to dump out the following:

And now, there is a sense that tomorrow will be the sort of day none of us ever forgets, one way or another–a day of reckoning, in the purest sense, when we will suddenly see ourselves and our country differently, for good or ill.

It will also be the first day that Barack Obama lives without the presence of the woman who was his surrogate mother. How sad for him, how remarkable that it would happen this way.

Sure, tomorrow’s going to be historic – we all get that. But the guy’s grandmother, the woman who – for a large part of his life – raised him, she died. That’s not your cue to practice for Primary Colors 2: The Colored.

That plus reading some of the six minutes of deranged hate from the Freeps just pissed me off.

Xecklothxayyquou Gilchrist

I like to think that’s the title of the Chinese DVD version.

I admire the Asian fashion of giving things ultra-prosaic titles. There’s an appealing humility to it, somehow.

Wendy Button is voting for McCain because Democrats made fun of Joe the Plumber.

Well, in all fairness, how can one not make fun of a guy who says he’s a plumber, but isn’t, says he’s buying a business he’s not, and then leverages it all into a country & western album?

We’re not made of stone!

Where’s the op-ed about how Obama tucks in his shirt when he plays basketball or how Senator Biden buttons the top button on his golf shirt?

Well, abracadabra – there it is, Wendy! You’re writing it! You moron.

The comments for that article are awesome. I’ve never seen “You’re a fuckwit” said so politely, so many times.

PLOT SPOILER ALERT would also be a good title for a Will Smith vehicle.

Oh, and a big bag of dicks for Wendy Button. Joe the fucking Wurlitzer Puppet? I was sympathetic to him before, but now…

“McCain has fought and bled for our country, loves our country,” said Joe Wurzelbacher, aka “Joe the Plumber,” who has campaigned throughout Ohio with and on behalf of Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz. “There’s too many questions with Barack Obama and his loyalty to our country. And I question that greatly.”

Fox News’ Neil Cavuto tried to clarify: “You’re not doubting that he’s a good American. Or you are?”

“His ideology is completely different from what democracy stands for,” said Wurzelbacher.

It would be very ‘meta’ if you could make a movie called Spoiler, but engineer the plot so that just knowing that the movie was called Spoiler would be a spoiler. Then you could keep the title secret, so as not to spoil it.

Or something.

When we first met, Obama and I had a nice conversation about speeches and writing, and at the end of the meeting I handed him a pocket-sized bottle of Grey Poupon mustard so he wouldn’t have to ask staff if it was okay to put it on his hamburger. At the bottom of the bottle was the logo for “The South Beach Diet” and he snapped, “Oh so you read People magazine.” He seemed to think that I was commenting on his bathing suit picture.

I’ll see that and raise you Mister Freedom, a 70s satire about a fascist superhero and his quest to convert France to the American Way. It has a frankly disturbing turn by Donald Pleasance as Mister Freedom’s demented commander, and a minor role for incest-loving crooner Serge Gainsbourg.

And while it’s not a musical, it does have a song:

As a member of the Free Republic, I have to say that the Management is very good about deleting any offensive comments that might be made about Obama’s grandmother’s passing, just as they were about any wishes of death towards Ted Kennedy.

There have also been many prayers for Obama and his family to help them get through this tragedy. I myself have prayed for Obama and his family, as no one deserves the loss of a loved one to cancer, regardless of where they stand politically.

I hope you liberals at least recognize the many prayers being offered to Obama and his family, and also to Ted Kennedy, who I’ve also prayed for. First I prayed for his eternal soul, that he may come to know Jesus as his Lord and spend eternity in Heaven, and that he may recover from his brain cancer, as no one deserves such an ailment.

Yeah, ‘prayers’ totally cancels out that whole ‘harrassing a cancer patient to death’ thing. You guys rule.

First of all, I have no idea what you’re talking about, “harrasing a cancer paitent to death.” But I will let you know, that if it did indeed happen and your’re not making it up, than I think its reprehensible, as I’m sure the overwhelming majority of FReepers would agree with me. We are overwhelmingly Christian and Godfearing men and women who deplore such behavior, as we routinely newer FReepers that we are held to a higher standard than that, we don’t wish death on our political opponents.

Well, if you never heard of it, it never happened, right?

If only there was some kind of large electronic database where you could find out for yourself!

Have fun hanging out at Cancer Patient Harrasser Republic.

Or just fucking anywhere but here.

He’s talking about Andy Stephenson. He was mostly a computer security guy who crusaded on an anti-Diebold message. This made FReepers very mad around ’05.

Andy came down with pancreatic cancer and his internet friends raised around $50k to help him get experimental surgery that his insurance wouldn’t pay for. The FReepers in their infinite wisdom decided he was scamming people and created a fraud investigation that delayed the surgery. Then he died. Then they alternated between spreading rumors that he died of AIDS and that he had faked his own death.

Great people, you hang out with.

I sincerely pray for her good circumstances in her next life. Obama is a reflection of how she lived and how well she loved. Now, it’s up to him to prove to the world how great she was. Time will tell. Sleep well.

Kiki, I just told you, I find what SOME of my fellow FReepers did to that cancer paitent to be morally reprehensible. I don’t understand why you can’t accept sympathy from across the political asile. Just because I’m a conservative automatically makes me a bad person, right? I don’t personally hate you guys, in fact, I find some of the things you people say here to be pretty darn funny, even if I disagree with the political message. Its one thing to hate someones political philosophy, but its something else entirely to hate the person, just because they have different political beliefs.

I guess you are a bit late to the game but go fire up your FReep handle and ask about Andy Stephenson. My guess is Jim Rob bans you instantly, but if it hangs around they will eat you alive for suggesting what they did was wrong. I’d find different people to pal around with.

I know I probably shouldn’t admit this, given we’re on the opposite ends of the political spectrum, but even though I like Jonah Goldberg and consider him to be one of the foremost conservative intellectuals, I have on occasion laughed when you guys refer to him as “Doughy Pantload.” And that picture of him holding the buttpaste is quite amusing too, I must admit.

i unkillfiled rugged and then i killfiled him again.

by the way, “rugged”, saying you consider jonah “one of the foremost conservative intellectuals” is a real insult to the conservative intelligentsia.

So, what’s everybody doin’ for tomorrow nite?

I thought of insisting that we cut all incoming information from the outside world, but the S.O. would shove me in the basement with the other unwanted things.

I’m joking. Sorta.

I’m going to bed early because if Obama wins my neighborhood is likely to become rather … rowdy and I’ll want to take pictures.

First of all, I have no idea what you’re talking about

I honestly never heard of Andy Stephenson and what my fellow FReepers did to him, before today. As I wasn’t a member of the Free Republic back in 2005. What I did say is that if what you claim happened actually did happen, then yes I find it to be morally reprehensible.

To be an incredible lying sleazebag, to hire the rethug hatchet-men who slimed my family back in 2000,
For five and a half years McCain had no surrogates, and had to spread his slanders and fabrications by himself.

That link doesn’t do justice. I’ll do better shortly.

My wife made me canvass for Obama; here’s what I learned

Let me make it clear: I’m pretty conservative. I grew up in the suburbs. I voted for George H.W. Bush twice, and his son once. I was disappointed when Bill Clinton won, and disappointed he couldn’t run again.

I encouraged my son to join the military. I was proud of him in Afghanistan, and happy when he came home, and angry when he was recalled because of the invasion of Iraq. I’m white, 55, I live in the South and I’m definitely going to get a bigger tax bill if Obama wins.

I am the dreaded swing voter.

The Republican Party would have a lot of soul searching to do if it had a soul.

Ah yes, Christopher Buckley, the son of the late great William F. Buckley, is who I presume you’re refering to there Lesley. I have to admit, that I am very dissapointed in the younger Buckley, that he would actually sell out his father’s legacy, all because Obama will bring America back to the years of the New Deal. Younger Buckley, misinterpreting Edmund Burke, thinks that going back to the days of the New Deal would be conservative, because it was in the past and therefore would be a reaction against Bush’s supposed “modernity.” Its a shame younger Buckley wasn’t born with his father’s intelligence.

“Are you saying that Rugged is not RUGGED?”

You’re right, I’m not that RUGGED. The parody troll is whom I presume your refering to. I am the original Rugged, who first posted here back in February, until one of you liberals (most likely) decided to do a parody of me. And a pretty piss poor parody at that, claiming I’m afraid of pelicans and a member of the reformed church of aryan whiteness, whatever that is. So you’re right I’m not the parody troll RUGGED, I’m the original Rugged.

Obama:”Ich bin ein beginner”

Okay, I gotta admit, that’s pretty good. Which is why I’m sure no rightwinger thought of it himself. Perhaps it was Dennis Miller, in one last involuntary spasm of creativity, who bestowed that line on them.

Also, I must salute your “fair and balanced” approach to the comments, actually including the few respectful ones. Much more magnanimous than any rightblog would ever be in reverse circumstances.

Of course I’m still going to stay on the Free Republc. That was only one incident, and I still don’t know the complete story, so for now I’m just taking your word for it. We all make mistakes, myself included. However, I’ve made many deep friendships on the Free Republic, and I find the overwhelming majority of the people there to be patriotic, intelligent, Godfearng men and women, who sincerly love their God and their Country and truly want whats best for her. I enjoy my time over there, and I don’t plan on leaving. They are my friends, and my fellow conservative brothers and sisters. And I care about them deeply.

The news of Grandma Dunham’s passing has softened my mood considerably. Like I said earlier, fuck the freepers – there are more powerful ways of dealing with our reactions to death, such as music:

Now, don’t the freepers seem so much more inconsequential now? The next 28 hours for me will consist of equal parts of bearing witness to history being made, feeling relief that reality will finally be vindicated in this country, and drinking toasts to Grandma Dunham and the cloud of saints I have known, who have longed for such a day but didn’t live to see it with their own eyes. Prodigious amounts of alcohol will be involved, as should be the case at any respectable wake.

Another “card carrying” republican who is voting for Obama.

For a long time, moderate conservatives have buried their heads in the sand; believed their party hadn’t been overtaken by the fringe-monsters of the ribs, bucket, and watermelon graphics-making variety. Those who have been paying attention during the election campaign have realized that’s exactly what’s happened.

McCain has not distanced himself from the “souls that, crablike, crawl continually toward darkness, going backward in life rather than advancing, using their experience to increase their deformity, growing continually worse, and becoming steeped more and more thoroughly in the intensifying viciousness, but invited them in, hired them, made them an instrumental part of his campaign. The gist of McCain’s campaign is a promise to perpetuate more of the Bush crazy with a little lip service to the so-called joe plumbers, using a cardboard cutout of his idea of what working people represent. Even his cutout fails…Joe not being a plumber and all.

If more moderate conservatives and even some neocons are voting for Obama it’s because they’ve become alienated and disgusted with the direction of the party they’ve voted for out of habit and loyalty for years. Many of them have kids in the armed forces. They are losing their homes, their jobs. Nothing about the Republican Party cares for them or their interests.

Their vote for Obama is a vote against what the GOP has become.

The “very conservative” “war hero” who’s killed during that period? He’s a serial killer who’s been murdering young girls. Yes, truly.

Curiously, my take on the movie was that it was the abandonment of their liberal principles that led to the students’ moral corruption, and ultimately their deaths.

But I’m afraid I cannot honor your request to leave. I’m going to be here throughout this election process, until PA is called for McCain in the wee hours and the Great Liberal Freakout begins.

I think you need to wait till 11:00 because the media are going to be big chickenshits but PA won’t be called then, VA and HI will and that’s the end of the night. McCain loses. It doesn’t matter what happens after that for you. The gimmes plus VA is the end of a John McCain map. After that they won’t care and it’s a bloodbath for republicans. They just start calling everything.

Give me a break son, PA will go for McCain. Thanks of course to Obama’s remarks about people who believe in God and own guns are “bitter.” Now this will be interesting, Pennsylvania hasn’t gone Republican since 1988, maybe this will be the start of a new trend.

Virginia is an entirely different story. It is a solid red state, which hasn’t voted for a Democrat since 1964, and won’t this year either, despite what leftwing pollsters and the dinosaur media want you to think. I’m predicting McCain will win Virginia by at least 5 percentage points.

I’m definately looking foward to tommarrow.

Like I mentioned earlier, polls are biased. Any idiot claiming to be a pollster can make his poll show whatever results he desires. Simply by overrepresenting certain groups disproportionate to their actual numbers. For example, if a certain pollster wants to show the Democratic candidate winning around 60%, than he would poll sixty Democrats for every forty Republicans, which would come pretty darn close to his desired result. Of course, you’ll get some Democrats switching sides to vote Republican, and some Republicans switching sides to vote Democrat, but that happens in every election. The end result would still be close to the one the pollster originally desired. Its all simple mathematics my friend.

Simple Math, RIM, I’m offering you $600 if McCain wins PA and VA. You only need to put up $300. This should be easy money for you. You don’t have $300? I’ll take it in installments. Do you believe in the McCainiacs or not?

Proud to be American once again
I don’t know what kind of president Barack Obama will be, but I know this: He has made me proud of America again. And also of Americans…. I am a Canadian who was born and grew up in the United States. For most people like me, the past few years have been dreadful. We lost our native country to men without honour. We lost it to people who authorized torture, secret prisons and indefinite detention. We lost it to people who made America hated and feared around the world and then, for good measure, presided over a global financial collapse. We gave up trying to defend America to all those critics who love to wallow in its wickedness – because, for once, they were right, and we were ashamed.

I don’t know how Mr. Obama will do as president, but I know this: He will give Americans their country back. He will work to make it the kind of country that people can respect again.

So the poster thinks it’s appropriate to imply (“putative”), on the basis of absolutely nothing, that the recently deceased Madelyn Dunham cuckholded her husband, and that “Stanley Ann” wasn’t her husband’s child. Yeah, right.

“Putative” my lily-white (possibly ancestrally affected by marauding Vikings, Huns, extremely attractive persons of color and depredations committed by “white” males who didn’t recognize the personhood of non-whites) ass.

its to bad that his poor grammy had to die latter than normal in order to get barack husain obama re elected to the white house.

Sorry for the rain, but I thought I’d mention Greg Palast:

Begin with this harsh statistic: since the last election, more than ten million voters have been purged from the nation’s vote registries. And that’s just the start of the steal.

If the noncount were random, it wouldn’t matter. But it’s not random. A US Civil Rights Commission analysis shows that the chance a black voter’s ballot will “spoil” or be blank is 900 percent higher than a white voter’s.

And now I’ll put on my Dave Broder hat:

I got my hair cut this Saturday, and my barber told me he thinks it’s going to be a landslide.

For Obama.

/broder

Give me a break son, PA will go for McCain. Thanks of course to Obama’s remarks about people who believe in God and own guns are “bitter.” Now this will be interesting, Pennsylvania hasn’t gone Republican since 1988, maybe this will be the start of a new trend.

Virginia is an entirely different story. It is a solid red state, which hasn’t voted for a Democrat since 1964, and won’t this year either, despite what leftwing pollsters and the dinosaur media want you to think. I’m predicting McCain will win Virginia by at least 5 percentage points.

The McCain campaign, ladies and gentlemen, has been running on media smoke and mirrors. They’ve spent millions of dollars trying to act out the PUMA fantasy of Pennsylvania turning on Obama for not being white enough; they’ve spent more, and precious time leading up to the election, trying to win back Virginia by convincing typically Republican DC exurb voters that they’re communists and the idiots down south are who really matter.

McCain is a media creature, he’s played by the media’s rules, and the media are giving him every chance they possibly could to win this one. They should have called it last week, and I doubt they’ll let it sink in for a month.

And Rugged will still be saying this dumb shit after PA goes to Obama by two-digit numbers and VA goes Obama before the polls close.

For Obama.

/broder

So Obama’s going to win the election, eh? What wonderful news . . . for McCain!!!1

Thunder’s right- the weather’s gonna be gorgeous across Ohio today. Turnout will unreal.

Lively Up Yourself.

I’m terribly embarrassed for the few apparently Republican individuals who would make cruel, insensitive, cynical comments over a situation involving Obama’s deeply personal loss. My sympathies go out to Obama and his family at this time. He may not have received my vote, but I think we all owe him our heartfelt sympathies.

Darn it, WordPress oppressed my youtube link to Three Little Birds.

Rock on, stryx. And don’t worry about a thing…

Gavin, I want to thank you for posting some of the more heartfelt and respectful responses. I think it’s important to realize that not everyone who hangs out in that hideous hellhole is a hideous hellspawn.

But damn, the others sure go out of their way to make up the lost ground!

Americans are getting up right now and going to the polls, right? On a school day? Just trying to get this all in perspective…

Magda, Federal elections are federal holidays, so most cities and states close their offices, there’s no mail delivery, and generally, schools are closed.

Any idiot claiming to be a pollster can make his poll show whatever results he desires.

I’d like to take a poll: how many SadlyNaughts think RiM is fulla shit?

RiM, we’ll publish that as the latest Zogby poll showing an Obama victory, mmmmmmmmmmmK? 😉

Too many cooks spoil the broth and the result is that the McCain campaign has exploded like a space rocket.

People in Virginia aren’t turning out in record numbers early in the morning because they’re excited about voting for McSame.

That’s my feeling about seeing and hearing about all these long lines this morning — it’s GOTTA be for OBAMA!

I am so excited today I don’t know what to do with myself. I just don’t know what to do. I think I’ll make a cake.

Hearing about Obama’s grandmother’s death started the waterworks last night. Then this a.m. Magda Carter’s comment above brought tears to my eyes. Watching the clip of Obama voting with his beautiful family around him brought tears to my eyes. DANGNABIT I am NOT a weepy sentimentalist type! I am a cranky old BITCH!! and I have been voting for Dems for president since 1972 for pete’s sake!! There’s no crying in POLITICS!! I guess I’ve been Hypnobamaized!!!

Too many cooks spoil the broth SAMMICH and the result is that the McCain campaign has exploded like a space rocket FAULTY SHIT MOAT.

Stevie Wonder is God.

Wow, only one more day of political ads. This is great! Of course if we win here it won’t end the wingnut seizures. I’m looking for some serious “situational Tourette’s” out of this one.

There is, in fact, an alternative explanation.

Mikey, was referring to the RIM/RiM dealie, you pie-script user you.

LOL. IZ NOT ORTHOGRAFIK NAZI!

The fact is, I’ve got your proof of voter fraud taking place right here.

the weather’s gonna be gorgeous across Ohio today.

Great news. Here in Salt Lake City it’s wrath-o-god-grade raining, so I’m glad I voted early.

Actually, piss-poor weather here might be good news for Obama, but I think Cap’n Long Nate Silver is right that Utah has a 0% chance of going blue.

Though my dear old dad went before hours to the first day of early voting in his town, just so he could be the first person in Utah to vote so Obama would be in the lead at least for a few seconds. I love my Dad, priceless curmudgeon he.

One more positive note from Seattle today…yesterday I dropped off my absentee ballot downtown at lunch and in the literally 10 seconds I was at the drop-off box a dozen other people came in to drop off their ballots as well. Then as I walked away from the building I saw a veritable…shall I say…tsunami of people bringing their ballots for early drop off.

Made me feel good, it did.

We come to “garnish earthlings with cilantro”.

Barack Obama versus Zalgon Twenty Six McCain?!

OneMan, I wasn’t too worried about Seattle (I switched my vote from there to PA, where I go to school) but that’s still awesome to hear! ^^

Xecky, that’s gorgeous. May any gods that exist bless your dad for such a thoughtful gesture – I could imagine my dad doing the same, although in his case he’d round up a dozen mates from his days in National Service to go with him (he’s a real community organiser type, my dad).

Srsly, WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU? An accusation like this is terrible.
No, really. Suck my fucking cock and burn in hell.

i think someone should investigate the death of mrs. dunham. His other grandmother (African) has reportedly been taped stating that barack was born in kenya. The logical way to resolve the issue would be to ask his white grandmother about it. Something doesn’t add up.

this is telly awesome article. Thanks for sharing with us..

Nicely done, very impressive. Keep up the good work and of course, keep sharing your ideas.
