Great Moments, Henry Lamb Edition

Posted at 22:32 by Sadly, No!

America’s third shittiest website® offers us another edition of Great Moments.

First up, Great Moments in irony. — Henry Lamb, July 18, 2008:

The grand prize for idiotic predictions in the 21st century has already been claimed by Al Gore.

Henry Lamb, May 24, 2008:

The inevitability of world government

Second comes Great Moments in Exaggeration:

Al’s crushing defeat in 2000 left him rudderless for a few years

Coming in third: Great Moments in Sadly, No!:

Gore, having been defeated in the 1988 presidential primary by Jesse Jackson in the South

Sadly, No!:

In the Super Tuesday races [...] with Gore and Jackson splitting the Southern states.

Our favorite: Great Moments in showing what a wimp George “41″ Bush is:

[Gore] publicly ridiculed then-President George H.W. Bush into attending the 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development in Rio de Janeiro where the U.N. Convention on Climate Change was adopted.

Bush was ridiculed into attending the Summit by Al? (Besides which: Sadly, No!)

Lastly: Great Moments in linking to poop:

despite the fact that [An Inconvenient Truth's] assertions were not supported by science, according to more than 31,000 scientists.

Let us simply note that the list does not fare well when examined carefully:

Of 60 samples (including 54 phD’s), there were a grand total of zero publications behind the sampled signatories that were relevant to climate or climate change.

    Thirty-one thousand scientists?

    That’s a lot!

No wonder the oil companies have to realize such grotesque profits. It can’t be cheap to pay off thirty-one thousand scientists (which I translate as primary school teachers, computer programmers and Ph.D’s from Bob Jones University).

Just how much does Al Gore pay you people to make all this fake stuff up? Everyone knows that there is no such thing as global warming and it is caused by something to do with sunspots which no one can explain.

I admit it: I struggle to understand the lizard-brain wingnuts:

    Universal health care: BLARGHH!! NOOOOOO!
    Conservation: YERG!! ARMMMFFF! NOOOO))!
Being respected in the world: DROOL…. YARGHHHH! NOOOOOO!
Torture is bad: BLAH@! BLAH!! NOOOOOOO!
    Unwarranted wiretapping is bad: NOOOOOO!!
There should be check and balances on the preznit: NO! NO! NO!
Killing innocents in a preemptive war is ill-advised NOOOOO!
    Al Gore: YEARGHH!! NOOOOOOO!

Just what the fuck are the people for?

To be fair, I think they’ll be coming around on the checks and balances on the preznit come January.

Winning the popular vote and getting screwed out of the presidency sure did make Gore rudderless. It also gave him a Nobel Prize, and Oscar and worldwide respect.

Just what the fuck are the people for?

Judging from their behaviors, I would say they like a rigidly defined world where they are told what to do constantly, and their ideological flexibility and difficulties with rational thought are regarded as a virtue.

Of course, that’s the world they live in, and let ‘em go for it.

It’s dragging the rest of the world into it that the problem lies.

Just what the fuck are the people for?

Tax cuts for their bosses’ bosses. (Applies to those who are employed.)

Okay, all due honor to Barnes & Barnes, and they came first with theirs, but when I heard “Party in My Pants,” I was all happy because I thought it was going to be this.

[Because I hate blind links, it's Julie Brown as Medusa from "Dare to be Truthful."]

I was so sure I sent a link to Julie Brown’s “Medusa” video from “Dare to be Truthful” — Party in my Pants. Barnes & Barnes were first, and I’ve had that LP since it came out, but when I saw the link above, my heart went up because I thought it was this one.
