We all knew this was coming

Posted at 4:39 by Brad

Bless you, FOX News, for doing all you can to help Barack Obama get elected president:

(Via.)

Maybe next time FOX can express shock that catering at Obama’s fund raisers doesn’t consist solely of fried chicken and 40Oz. bottles of King Cobra.

Bloody racists.

  5. Brad said,

No, Matt, it isn’t. A “baby mama” is a term used to describe a woman who got impregnated and whose man left her. That’s obviously not the case with the Obamas since they’re, you know married.

    God FOX is amazing.

I think Michelle Malkin should take this important story directly to Michelle Obama by surprising Mrs. Obama with some a that ‘citizen journalism’, and then revealing how awfully radical and violent Michelle Obama is when she tells Malkin exactly where she can put her story.

They don’t seem to even understand what a “baby momma” refers to. It’s slang that some men use to refer to the mother of their child(ren), someone who is not their wife. Therefore it doesn’t apply to Mrs. Obama.

Keep it coming FauxNews, first the “terrorist fist jab” and now “Obama’s baby momma.” Next thing you know they’re going to accuse him of spitting watermelon seeds at McCain.

    Brad,
I thought so. I didn’t think the definition left a lot of wiggle room and I’m sure, were it to evolve as the language often does, I certainly wouldn’t hear it first from Fox News. I just wonder which particular dog this is supposed to whistle up. I mean, even the Klan goobers are sharp enough to realize she’s misusing the phrase egregiously. Doesn’t Michelle have kids? Couldn’t she check with them first if she was unclear on the whole “baby mama” concept?

That’s just obnoxiously stupid and racist. And she’s lying about the whole “liberals are saying” thing on top of it. Goddamn. Ya know, if I walked through Downtown smoking a joint, they’d throw my ass in jail, but this horrible person gets paid to be a miserable jackass. How much Pepto Bismol y’all reckon Malkin goes through trying to patch up the holes in guts from holding in all that bile she carries around? Sheesh….

Expect some insinuation that Barack Obama used to date white women.

Expect that no racist attack is too disgusting for these sick fucks who are shitting their pants over the thought of President Obama.

  52. Matt T. said,

Well, it isn’t that it’s not exactly the same phrase, it’s not the same phrase at all. She’s refering to her “baby”, i.e. her child. Not “baby daddy” - note the lack of the possesive s - which you’re supposed to say as one word. Now, that transcript may be misleading and Michelle Obama may have refered to her Harvard-educated, U.S. Senator husband as a “baby daddy”. Or you could be full of shit, and given your past performances, I’m inclined to follow the latter.

To actual black people, ‘baby momma’ means ‘a woman who got impregnated and whose man left her.’ To Fox News, it just means ‘black ghetto slut’.

“Let’s see. It’s June. I say FAUX blows the N word by … the end of June.”

Aggrieved parties aren’t obligated to react directly, and not reacting doesn’t automatically make someone a coward or a victim, as you put it. I’d suggest the opposite. Reacting to these lowlifes would mean lowering herself to their level. It’s not in the best interest of her partner’s campaign and her future as a first lady to confront stupid hecklers and bullies. Leave that for the base and lawyers to take care of.

I’m sure she and her husband are prepared for all kinds of bullshit. If Michele follows her husband’s example (during the mudslinging he took from Hillary), she’ll be controlled and dignified throughout the campaign. This worked in Obama’s favour. Hillary came out smelling like an asshole while Obama looked dignified and in control. Michelle’s obligation is to support her partner and impress the voters; demonstrate to them what kind of First Lady she will be. Some are comparing her to Jackie Kennedy. That’s an enduring compliment. Engaging slimeballs, getting angry over shit like this in public, will only put her reputation at risk (which is what Fox would love, of course).

When all is said and done, she’ll be the classy dame and they’ll look like the low lifes they’ve always been.

That said, viewers and voters should respond loud and often to these vile attacks, whether they support her or not.

They’re scared of a reaction against the movement conservatives in general, and so they’ll do anything to ensure that the 25%ers turn out and get their crazy on enough that they can stay a credible lobby on the Right. What they want is a Charge of the Light Brigade (White Brigade?), a myth they can call on in the future, like that of the undefeated South. Personally, I’m wondering why they’re going after her at all. It worked with Hillary when Bill was president, because of their ties in business deals, her brushing off of Bill’s flirting with women; it also worked with Teresa Kerry, because of her inheritance of an empire and how John married into it (and isn’t funny how this is a “good thing” when it comes to McCain?… IOKIYAR!).

The problem with the “Fight the Smears” thing is that they concede half the battleground by essentially agreeing that the substance of the smear is negative. For example, the smear that Obama is a Muslim is answered with, basically, “That’s a lie” — when the proper response should be “No, as a matter of fact, he isn’t a Muslim, but so what if he were?”

By the way, Rob (ex) from Toronto: I love the fact that the Google ads that came up when I read your link had the following headlines:

The trouble is, people who haven’t actually experienced racism don’t always have the best understanding of it. Most white people are more worried about being unfairly called racist than they are about being discriminated against.

Which do you think will be easier for them to believe? That Obama is trying to guilt his way into the presidency by claiming racism at every corner, or that the media has a widescale bias against black people? Keep in mind two things:
    1) A large chunk of Democrats were just convinced of the former.
    2) There is a broad perception that the media has a liberal bias - because prominent conservative figures in the media are constantly accusing the media of having a liberal bias.

If you ask me, we are better off ignoring this shit as much as possible, at least in wider forums. If the election becomes about race, we lose. Why do you think that Fox is provoking this?

So-called Undecideds could then vote for the “Have-a-Beer” guy with a clear conscience. “He said he was a Compassionate Conservative!”

But will the people whose knuckles do not drag the ground reconcile their continued support when the masks are off and they are forced to openly side with the barely sentient bits of primoridal muck who comprise Faux Noise? Can they then square their greed with their knowledge of who, precisely, they are getting into bed with?

My theory all along was that most people were fooled by W, and that’s why they voted for him. Only the Base (and was there ever a better term for them?) really knew what was going on, and didn’t care.

Bill O: clearly, Fox was saying that Obama denied rumors about his plans to create a Cabinet-level position dedicated to the task of Killing Whitey. Fox is defending Obama here, it’s liberals who are so obsessed with race, they never stop seeing color. Mark, what do you think about this?

Mark S: MUSLIMS R IN UR YURP OUTBREEDING UR… I’m not saying “Aryans” here, so it’s ok. LEBENSRAUM agggghhhhh!

Michelle M: Legitimate questions have been raised about whether Obama really meant it when he denied that he plans to Kill Whitey. Since the MSM is refusing to investigate, I’ve taken it upon myself to go to his house and take photos of the notes on his refrigerator. You can clearly see a grocery list written on this one. Here, you can see the family is buying chicken, melon and hummus. Notice anything missing? Where’s the Miracle Whip?

Peggy N: Is it responsible to ask whether that “melon” is cantaloupe or watermelon, or, if elected, Obama would put Farrakhan in charge of a task force to round up and exterminate all white Christians? It would be irresponsible not to!

    Glen R: Heh. Indeed.

Whatever the best macro-strategy for Obama’a campaign is, I think we can be useful as those people who are not attached to Obama’s campaign, but can call people out on crap like this. Like what the wingnuts are for the Republicans. Least, I hope we can do that.

A conservative group is putting together an anti-Obama documentary…but will this backfire? Conservative blogger Michelle Malkin joins us now

Because if there is a backlash against swiftboating Michelle Obama, it’s the conservative bloggers that are going to start it. Michelle Malkin? I concede that she’s an expert on provoking backlash with underhanded tactics - but I suspect that that’s not why you’ve got her on screen. Well, let’s see what our intrepid citizen journalist has to say:

If there’s any unfairness at all it’s in the attacks on the conservatives who have been simply repeating what she said on the campaign trail.

Only using reality-based criteria to attack a political opponent? Not basing attacks off of innuendo, rumor and the crazy stuff of their fevered nightime totments?
That sure sounds like the wignutt-o-sphere.

I do think that the over-the-top racism getting waved around by Fox and the GOP stands a good chance of pushing more people to vote for Obama.

Let’s not forget that Pat Buchanan’s keynote address back in ‘92 scared a shitload of people away from Bob Dole and the GOP that year. And even as racist as his speech was, it wasn’t nearly as bad as the stuff already glurping out of the GOP sewage pipes. On top of that, Brand Republican was nowhere as badly tarnished prior to the convention as they are right now.

Actually, I think this might backfire.

Since their whole gambit has been to pretend they are upright, and moral, and care about Teh Peeps, and so forth… while whistling at the knuckle-draggers who are the base of their power.

John Cole of Balloon Juice is a good example of someone who was once suckered into Bush’s “folksy-ness”, but has seen through it. Cole lives in WV and identified with it, and voted for Bush twice. Not long after the ‘04 election (and with much wrangling from Sadly Naughts ;) ), he realized that he made a huge mistake and has abandoned the GOP.

Hopefully, there is a large number of others like him who became disillusioned with the GOP’s “salt of the earth” ruse.

The way the campaign should deal with this is by ridicule, followed by a sad “what did you expect from them” shake of the head. First you make a little joke about it, as someone suggested above: perhaps referencing expectations that Fox will soon be reduced to talking about watermelon and fried chicken. Then you say “but seriously, folks…this is what it has come to for the Republicans. They’re wrong about everything, and they know it, so they’re trying to save their asses by appealing to the worst in us - to our prejudices, fears and resentments. That’s all they have left. Is that how you want this election to be decided? Just remember, when you hear stuff like this over the next few months, treat it like something you stepped in. Don’t ignore it, because you’ll only trail the stink around after you. Don’t argue with it, because it’s beneath your notice. Just scrape it off your shoe, consider the source, and move forward.”

I’m reading a good book right now - The Political Brain by Drew Westen. It’s about why people vote (and think/react) the way they do.

    Reason and Logic: Zip
    Emotion and Subconscious: Lots

He explains why the Dems always play it the wrong way. You can’t ‘be above’ this kind of bullshit and you can’t ignore emotion in the campaign. You have to address attacks swiftly without buying into the framing. You also have to stop worrying about offending people because obviously, there’s a percentage you’ll never get anyway.

Example: Who cares about offending people who are totally anti-abortion? They’re already lost. You have to go for your own supporters and the ones that are moderate - which is most people. The book goes into statistics showing that most people support Choice, gun control measures of some kind, etc.

By letting the GOP define the terms, tell the stories, frame the arguments and use Orwellian double speak (Clear Skies? LOL), the Dems aren’t playing to win, or on an even field.

He gives examples of major fuckups from the past and how they should have been handled.

Barry is handling this garbage properly. If he doesn’t address it, the subliminal impression is that there’s no argument, so it must be true. You can’t let these douchebags do the talking.
