And yes, even we FDL writers get a little impatient sometimes with the constant, “Hey!” and “Oh, hey!”, “Hey, how are you?”, “Good, going to bed soon!”, “Oh, well, good night!”, “Good night!”, “G’night!”, “Goooood night!” stuff that goes on in the comment threads, but that’s the readers’ territory, which we exert only minimal editorial control over. The only comments we take out are the abusive ones, so the readers/commenters are free to talk about whatever they want, and that seems to be what they want to talk about.

Years ago i was a fan of Atrio’s site but stopped going there because the comments section turned into exactly that. That and i once questioned the authenticity of some agitprop connecting depleted uranium ammunition and birth defects, and was forever after treated like an invading Freeper even when i was posting comments agreeing with their own.
