From Morn To Noon She Fell; From Noon To Dewy Eve…
Watertiger sends the following tidings:
From: “Michelle Malkin”
To: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Date: Fri, 12 Oct 2007 23:04:58 -0400
Subject: Re: Michelle no longer on the Factor?I made the decision to quit appearing on the O’Reilly show in response to the poor handling of the Geraldo Rivera matter (the staged “apology” on The Factor was a complete farce). I won’t go into details, but please know that your support means a lot to me. You can catch me on other Fox News shows and read my daily blog posts and weekly columns at MichelleMalkin.com.
Best,
Michelle
Translation: The O’Reilly show fired me for my poor handling of the Graeme Frost matter (my continuing attacks on a 12-year-old kid with traumatic brain injury made me a liability) and for my endless campaign against Geraldo Rivera, to list some of this month’s examples. Having been given the opportunity to resign, I have turned it around on the O’Reilly show and am now performing my Brave Little Topsy act. Can you believe their poor handling of the. . .uh, thing? I am so outraged at this lack of professionalism that I will die here in this snowbank before continuing to associate myself with such a program.
You can catch me on other Fox shows unless I’ve really done it to myself this time, in which case I’m calling Howie Kurtz to bail me out again, plus I still have a blog and a syndicated column, so nyeah.
Bradrocket adds: I dunno. If she got to interview the Black Panthers every night, I think it would be an entertaining, Jerry Springer-esque carnivale:

Honestly, I’m against the not-linking-to-people thing on principle. People are always doing it to us, all like, “Bwaha, I refu-u-use to give them any traffic!” when they’re really trying to keep their readers from seeing what we wrote.
Ann Althouse refuses even to mention our name — which doesn’t stop her from writing long posts about us, but she’s agile that way. I think it’s just a lot easier and more honest to let the hits flow as they may.

Stick a fork in her.
The fat lady is singing.
Red Auerbach is lighting his victory cigar.
Henry Winkler is sailing over the shark in his leather jacket.
Whatever metaphor for “over” you want to use, Michelle is now RIGHT THERE.
Being on TV is the mother’s milk, the holy grail, the highest state of enlightenment, the sine qua non (I am so full of repetitive analogies today!!!) of wingnut welfare. FOX is the ne plus ultra (sorry, had one more left in me) of the righty universe. And The Factor, whatever we think of it over here in reality world, is the capo di tutti capi (all right, somebody punch me now) of the FOX empire.
You don’t “quit” The Factor if you’re Michelle Malkin, you get down on your knees and blow as many assistant producers as it takes to get on the show and stay there. Nobody gave a shit about a maniacal, plastic-faced, scrawny Asian woman who defended the Japanese internment UNTIL she went on FOX. And now, nobody will ever care again. Boo hoo.
Bottom line: O’Reilly fired Malkin over Graeme Frost. Then he gave her the opportunity to say she quit. And now she’s been busted making up a bullshit story that trashes the guy after he cut her some slack.
If Michelle Malkin had handled this any worse, she’d be in jail. Maybe that’s something we can look forward to.

The fact is that Geraldo’s insane comments were not forgivable just by apology, but by Geraldo being fired from Fox News.
Fox News decided to stick with a man who hasn’t drawn ratings for 20 years over a new up and coming Conservative Superstar. Their loss.
Bill O’Reilly is a squishy little wimp who has been caving on the War for 4 years. And that’s a fact.

From the comments at thinkprogress:
After which it apparently degenerated further into some kind of squabbling match.
I’d say that the spitting comment was a bit out of line, but the first comment was within the realm of…well, not civilized discourse, but tolerable political diatribe.
Here’s how I’d like to see this end:
(1) Geraldo should absolutely reaffirm his criticism of Malkin and refuse to back down. He should, however, apologize for the spitting remark, and voluntarily remove himself from the airwaves.
(2) Malkin should storm off in a huff from O’Reilly’s show (which she appears to have done) and sink into total obscurity.
It’s win-win, as far as I can tell. Now if only we could dispatch O’Reilly too….
Johnny Coelacanth said,
October 15, 2007 at 18:50
From reading the comments at Stalkin’ Malkin’s place, (dip computer in bleach, wait for it to dry…) Geraldo apparently said that he would spit on Michelle Malkin if he saw her in person. He then apologized, prefaced with “I won’t say what I think about Michelle Malkin.” My estimation of Mr. Rivera has been pushed up a couple notches. Anyway, that wasn’t good enough to repair Michelle’s offended sensibilities, and she quit because Bill Orally refused to fire Geraldo, and will continue to have him on the show regularly. Boo fuckin’ hoo.
g said,
October 15, 2007 at 18:52

It doesn’t seem like that much to me, I mean, it’s an insult, I get that, but why is it such an inflammatory insult, why is it so much more worse than just having someone curse you? Does anyone know?

Geraldo’s got connections that the Malkin thing does not. She can huff and puff all she wants but when it comes down to it she’s not really a part of their little boys club.
I think the Frost incident probably greased the skids. I also think the Malkin thing is afraid of Geraldo. Say what you want about that douchebag, but he’s not going to back down from a little twit like the Malkin thing. She’s running scared.
Johnny Coelacanth said,
October 15, 2007 at 19:18
“nor have i been spat on, and I don’t think I’ve known anyone who was either spitter or spittee – why is spitting so bad, and what is the cultural origin of this?”
I couldn’t tell you anything about the cultural bias (it’s unhygienic?), but I grew up as a nerdy bookworm in a neighborhood where the bullies would beat you then spit on you to make sure you knew your place. It’s kind of a trigger for me, so I disavow it as being dehumanizing and hateful. I knew you were kinda joking, and I can’t really condemn Geraldo for his urge to expectorate on that harridan Malkin.

Whether or not the Frost family should be considered too well-off to qualify for federal health benefits doesn’t seem to fall in that category.
Yo Howie, that is the job of the state of Maryland and the Feds, and the Frosts did qualify. The purpose of the attack by Stalkin’ Malkin and fellow orcs, winged monkeys, etc. is to punish the Frosts for daring to speak in favor of the program.

Dang! I clicked over the the WSJ editorials, hoping to see them call out the Malkinthing by name. But they were all squishy over it, pretty much saying that the Frost family actually are the kinds of blue collar hardworking salt-’o-earth types that are supposedly the core of the great U.S. of A., and that they did deserve a “limited for of SCHIP.”
Closest they got to delivering an actual slam to the mean-spirited little freak were a couple of sentences in which they wrung their hands over how the out-of-control cruelty and disregard for the facts that the wingnutosphere has been practicing for the last couple of weeks has been playing right into the Democrat’s hands. I guess the theory behind that one is that it’s OK to be a shitsucking narcissitic warmonger, just as long as someone within the movement doesn’t actually pull back the curtain to reveal the wizened, Davros the Dalek-like men behind the “compassionate conservative” pablum.
Now that the WSJ has been assimilated into the News America empire, and Malkin has transgressed with Fox, I think we’ll see a lot more veiled shots at the “firecracker” coming out in the editorial pages. Everyone is getting the morning memo and talking points from Ailes these days, and Malkin is definitely outside of the little circle of trust. She interfered with the making of the almighty $$, and Rupert’s minions Will Have None Of That.

Naah, Wordyeti’s got it: The WSJ could care less about trollish behavior — they’ve been trolls for decades — but if Malkin’s ongoing crusade against “socialized health care” is starting to make the megacorporations nervous, she needs to be slapped down soonest. Remember, the latest GM strike was over who paid for retirees’ healthcare, and Walmart is now running TV commercial insisting they do *so* provide health coverage for their employees, sort of, if you squint just right. The Great American Ruling Class Consensus is barrelling towards some form of national health care in the not-too-distant future, and hardcore media outliers like Malkin are being reined in to suit the new reality. Which does sweet fck-all good for the Graeme Frosts of the present, but it’s an interesting straw in the 2008 electoral winds.

The backflips begin over at Flaming MalkinTM:
Grown-up Jeff Goldstein weighs in:
The entire dustup over SCHIP has never been about the Frost family — except insofar as cynical Dems were willing to use an injured child already covered by the program as an emotional beard to demand an increase that would cover those making close to twice as much as the boy’s family.

Malkin’s update leaves out the best part of Goldstein’s post (emphasis his):

Know them? I thought he was describing them.
The Krugman ref and the second paragraph straightened me out. Almost.

For a moment, before considering the source, I was hoping that “grown-up Jeff Goldstein” was actually a different person than Pasty Goldstein, in the spirit of the two Roger Aileses.

Be careful what you say folks; mention that name too much and Pasty or one o’his minions will be over here to give us a good cock slapping. Besides, he can only wish he had Malkin’s notoriety or audience. Maybe if he defends her vociferously enough, he can get Allahpundit’s weekend spot.

Just for the record, the Oxford English Dictionary gives the verb form as “pedantize”– 1. intr., and trans. with it. To act as a pedant (formerly also, schoolmaster); to speak or write pedantically.
First record of the word in print: 1611 R. COTGRAVE Dict. French & Eng. Tongues, “Pedantizer, to pedantize it, or play the Pedant: to domineere ouer lads.”
Some other noteworthy appearances in print:
1783 Ainsworth’s Thes. Linguæ Latinæ (new ed.), “To pedantize, or play the pedant…”
1968 W. J. BOUWSMA tr. P. Sarpi Let. in W. J. Bouwsma Venice & Def. Republican Liberty ix. 522 “To pedantize over other men in matters not settled.”
2. trans. To turn (a person) into a pedant. Obs. rare.
1734 R. NORTH Lives of Norths (1890) III. 89 “That bare reading without practice, which pedantiseth a student but never makes him a clever lawyer.”
Sorry. Was that pedantic?

It’s a conspiracy ah tells ya!!

Hey, is it just me or is there something just horribly overblown in Goldstein’s writing? It’s like the guy is convinced that the more unreadable the prose, the more intelligent it sounds.
It’s always the same. You start out thinking “Wow, this is pretty convoluted, it might be rather profound”, soon leading to “this is just deliberately obfuscated”, and finally winding up at “is that all?”.
It’s the latter day equivalent of a 14th century illuminated manuscript. It’s highly detailed and ornamented and it’s all in fucking Latin or some shit, and you just have to think that whatever it’s about must just totally kick ass … but when you get it deciphered, it’s a fairly mundane story about a monk who eats paste.
At some point in the past, this guy was paid by the word.

Say what you will about Goldstein, he knows his audience.
A bunch of angry, deluded, sad, chubby, mulleted rednecks living in the cool and damp confines of grandma’s basement.
I once made some MySpace Profiles for Goldstein’s best and brightest commenters “B Moe,” “Pablo,” and “HappyFeet.” I was taking a bit of artistic license in making them, but I remain pleased with my resuts.

Gary (btw are you for real or just a brilliant satirist of the typical knownuthin fascist pinhead?) let me just take this opportunity to vent on how I hate that the wingnuts have hijacked the term “conservative.” There is NOTHING remotely “conservative” about their philosophy, which can charitably be described as radically retrogressive.
To wit: Eisenhower was a conservative. Jacob Javits was a conservative. Nelson Rockefeller was a conservative. Pat Moynihan was a conservative. These people are batshit, pre-Magna Carta troglodytes.
Dop they ever even parse the words they use? I mean, even ONCE? The word ‘conservative’ obviously derives from the verb “to conserve.” So…what is it that these fucknuts think they’re “conserving,” exactly?
The military? Nope. Destroying it, by every measure.
The economy? Ditto, a sea of red ink for generations to come and looming recession.
The planet? (Hah!)
Traditional morals? Well, I dunno…let’s ask Larry Craig, Ted Haggard. Dave Drier, Dave Fleishman, Mark Foley and Rush Limbaugh about those, shall we?
No. From now on, the wingnuts DON’T get to call themselves “conservative.” They get to stand in front of the mirror and slap themselves in the head with bags of scrap metal until their faces resemble raw hamburger.
