Thanks for an interesting read. I came accross your work in a effort to uncover whether certain people who have the public’s ear and who sometimes espouse right wing warmongering (James Carroll, Rich Lowery, David Brooks etc.) were ever IN the military and stood in harm’s way (like Marc Shields and Jim Lerher who are actual marines). It’s sooo easy to talk the talk, so difficult to walk the walk. By the way you don’t specificlly mention whether Ricky ever actually was in the military. Was he?
