Listen, doofus: the most prolific terrorist organisation in the world is the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Elam, who are nominally Hindu and basically secular. There are terrorists of every monotheistic, and many polytheistic, religion/s.

The reason that some Islamic terrorists want to kill Americans probably has something to do with the fact that the US has done some truly appalling things in their part of the world. Learn some history, and I mean real history, not just a list of Presidents.

The reason that some Islamic terrorists want to kill Israelis is because the Israeli government has been following a considered policy of ethnic cleansing for decades. It was only in the 90s that Palestinian resistance got going: up until then, all the violence and killing was coming from Israel.

The only difference I see is that Republicans/conservatives, and Israilis would defend themselves.

Attacking another country, as seems to be on the cards, simply because you think they have weapons, is not defence.

I can’t speak for all ‘lefties’, but then neither can you. My view of foreign affairs, which concurs with the view of many intelligent and experienced diplomats, is that the US is dangerously ignorant and belligerent.

For instance: how many wars has the US been involved in over the last 50 years? Why, if the US is so wonderful, does it spend more than the rest of the world combined on weapons? How many governments has the US overthrown in the last 50 years?

If you knew the answers to those questions, you might be some way towards understanding why the US is so hated. You might also begin to understand that the US’ current tactic, that of bombing the bejeezus out of anyone who looks at them funny, is possibly the best way to rapidly increase recruits for terrorist groups.
