Wow. The best I can do is an X show in 1984. Billy Zoom had two poses: Left foot forward cool pose with a big grin, and right foot forward cool pose with a big grin. He just kept shifting from one to the other. I think that might be meta but I am not sure...

Because, like, everybody has Gang of Four records now

Really, that's nice but if you like your marxism straight and undiluted with any commercial consideration (or much musical consideration for that matter) nothing beats the Pop Group.

also, if we are being objective, or objectivist or whatever,

THE FALL. they are the best band of all time. by far. by very very far.

and tonight's dance-around-with-the-kids playlist:
Tie Your Mother Down-Queen
Drug Raid at 4 AM-Lard (objectively the greatest punch line in punk history)
Street Hassle-Lou R
Aladdin Sane-DB (always need to bring them down a bit for bedtime, but that went poorly with this choice).

Reuters, if you we are talking Wire.

Personal life highlight, right at the top where it will remain forever:

My friend shoots his movie "Love and a .45" and goes back to NYC to mix the music/record a soundtrack. he calls me, says "hey man back from Austin come by my place [on the bowery across the street from CB's funny enough] i've got a guy playing some guitar and jamming out a soundtrack you should check it out."

so off i go, wandering from whatever extraordinarly tiny shithole i was sharing with an inordinate amount of other bong smokers off to carty's loft.

and there, sitting with a guitar and amp, is Tom Verlaine. who, upon noticing that a few people have gathered and are sitting there slack-jawed, proceeds to play whatever we ask for--soloes, riffs, songs, covers, everything. and leaves us after ripping out an arpeggiated version of the marquee moon solo.

i still get chills. they were also pretty spectacular at UCLA a few years ago, but that was just a show.
