Any of those ips been used to post comments? It’d be interesting to know how such geniuses communicate when forced to use words.

No, they’re proxy IPs. Someone tried to knock the site down and tamper with the internal files.

I guess someone took offense at the (accurate) descriptions of Malkin’s mouth as “anus-like”.

  8. a different brad said,

Well, it’s more likely a Malkin follower than Patterico. At least his lot is willing to give it a go before being put off by our horrible fucking language.

But were they trying to destroy the site or merely knock holes in it? There is a big difference, I’m told.

Dunno yet. It doesn’t seem like a very smart attack, but we still have to comb through the logs to see exactly what happened.

Frickin’ Colorado! I’ve heard rumors of such evils, in TBogg comments threads… clearly, it was either Balrogs, or you have made a powerful enemy in Soros, tyrant of Barad-Dur.

Or, more seriously, it is astonishing the level of pettiness that they will stoop to. Jesus Christ, it’s just a blog. Who cares *that* much? It’s just fucking around on the computer, for chrissakes.

Someday ,somebody is going to get a resume adorned with the claim, “engineered attack on comedy website.” And then they will be given the Medal of Freedom! And a Pony!

Keep up the sense of humor. They can’t stand it. They are so used to being bullies that when you respond with humor it drives them nuts with rage, which of course you will mock ceaselessly, which will drive them positively frothily rabidly isanely pissed off.

    Got your back bro!

Thers, they were getting between a wingnut and her wingnut welfare. Or like the KSFO morans put it, the madly hos were trying to cut off the Malkintents’ livelihoods. And getting between a winger and their cheetos is just asking to have your server slapped around by Pasty’s cock.

I blame Dan “Riehlly Fucking Stupid” Riehl.

  29. javaphil said,

Riehl thinks a DoS attack is standing in his room shouting at the SN main page “I deny you service!” until he passes out from lack of oxygen (he can go a surprisingly long time what with so few brain cells to support.) And it couldn’t be the Wanky, what with that damn trick knee. The rabbit seems the most likely choice. Perhaps it would help to confuse it if you ran away more?

    Speaking of Holy Joe

In another conversation, he told me that he was reading “America Alone, a book by the conservative commentator Mark Steyn, which argues that Europe is succumbing, demographically and culturally, to an onslaught by Islam, leaving America friendless in its confrontation with Islamic extremism.

For his next act, Joe could review something by Adam Yoshida.

So Malkin (very badly) attempts to make fun of/score points of Amanda

And Hadley, Rose comments on it, largely by letting Malkin make an ass of herself with her worse than Shatner acting.

So some wingnut and/or Ned Lamont launches a Dos attack?

Boy they sure love that freedom they are spreading in the Middle East.

  32. Phoenix Woman said,

Ah, the one thing missing from Lieberman’s claims that “Ned Lamont hacked my website!”: Actual proof, in the form of the IP addresses of the offenders.

I was wondering why I couldn’t get onto SN last night. Seems I tried to get on just as the DoS attack was happening.

Since when did DNStuff go pay-for-service? I must’ve missed the memo.

You’re in good company. Large chunks of TW Cable in LA were down last night. A graphic site I moderate is under historically large .ru originated proxy spam attack. If, combined with your glitch, these three things weren’t all completely different kinds of problems, I’d be trying to connect dots above my geek-grade.

I’m kind of disappointed. I figured a big-time C-List blog like Sadly, No, winner of the 2006 weblog award for best humor blog, known and discussed far and wide, would have a large, glass-walled humming data center, with backup mainframes, comments running on a quad SPARC, large diesel generators for offline power and armed security managing access control. Now I begin to suspect otherwise…
