This really struck me as funny and pathetic. He’s talking like making a graceful exit out of Iraq is a Bad Thing, something undesirable.

I mean, even in his own wildest pipe dream of not getting out till we’ve achieve Victory, our leaving ought to be graceful, rather than the contrary, shouldn’t it?

I guess he’s bound and determined that we’re going to end up getting ours asses chased out stumbling and falling all over ourselves, knocking down the china and crashing through the windows before tangling ourselves up in the barbed wire fences and trailing broken bottles behind us.

Y’know, I’m on a bunch of meds. But two of ‘em actually have a warning that they “may contribute to intense or unusual dreams”. Now that’s legalese. It’s fucked up, folks. And that picture of Jim Neighbors scares me. I may be up most of the night out of fear for the dreams that damn thang might create…

I have thought for some time that the appropriate parallel for us in Iraq was Stalingrad and not Viet Nam. What was Hitler’s order to Field Marshal Von Paulus (promoted from General just after he was completely trapped)? There wiil be no withdrawal until victory.

Interesting body language on Maliki. Heâ€™s leaning away from Bush, his arm positioned for liftoff and a hasty retreat from the photo-op. Plus, he looks like something smells funny, which of course it does.

I bet that photo was taken by a Reuters stringer. In the original, Maliki had his arm around Bush. I am just surprised plumes of smoke are missing. /Malkin
