Youâ€™d really root against the Mets if they made it to the World Series? Iâ€™m a Mets fan and I always thought of the Red Sox as brothers in a common asshole enemy. I know 1986 was painful, but youâ€™ve had a championship since then, and one of the sweetest championship runs to do it. too.

You’d really root against the Mets if they made it to the World Series? I’m a Mets fan and I always thought of the Red Sox as brothers in a common asshole enemy. I know 1986 was painful, but you’ve had a championship since then, and one of the sweetest championship runs to do it. too.

I will always have love for the Red Sox because of 2004. That was probably the single best non-Mets moment of my baseball life.

But Iâ€™ve listened to Allinâ€™s music and seen videos of his performances since achieving adulthood and I have only one question: did no one ever tell this silly fucker how goofy he looked and how dull his whole shtick was once you got over the shock value? Had to been there, I guess. Well, GG Allin was never really part of the main landscape until about 1989 or 1990, and even then he was basically a novelty act -- like the Jim Rose sideshow or something. Nobody was ever like, 'Wow, that new GG Allin record is really good.' He did some good records in the late '70s and early '80s as a regional New England loony, but that was before the nudity and body fluids and all that. Here's an early video. Still ridiculous, but there's sort of a core of competence supporting it.

Ya know, I know that even though I’m of prime age to appreciate the whole American punk thing, culturally speaking, I was on an entirely different planet. As a young cracker in rural Mississippi, my musical soul was raised by a combination of ’70s era Elvis, my old man’s Southern soul 8-tracks and “Hee Haw”. So, yeah, I missed it and I don’t connect with a lot of it, though I do appreciate stuff like the Dead Kennedys and the Ramones and whatnot. It’s just not a part of my youth.
