Shorter Alleged Psychotherapist Robin of Berkeley, The American “Thinker”
A Shrink Asks: What’s Wrong With Obama?

  • His daddy dropped him on his head. He fried his brain on drugs and liquor. His mamma had sex with him. He has schizotypal antisocial personality disorder. He’s not smart enough to have Asperger’s Syndrome.

‘Shorter’ concept created by Daniel Davies and perfected by Elton Beard. We are aware of all Internet traditions.™

So what is the matter with Obama? Conservatives have been asking this question for some time. I’ve written a number of articles trying to solve the mystery.

When all the while there’s a simple, one-word answer.

At first I was going to say that Robin has done for psychotherapists what Oily Titz has done for lawyers and dentists, and The Shrub has done for MBAs. But you don’t necessarily need an advanced degree to be a psychotherapist – and that’s assuming she isn’t lying about her alleged profession.

    http://www.guidetopsychology.com/cln_cns.htm

So I’m betting that this ‘analysis’ by proxy does not violate her professional ethics – she’s not a licensed professional. She’s just a sub-clinically neurotic astrologer. May God have mercy on her clients.

Obama’s clear mental illnesses can be seen from his turn as a cheerleader in an elite prep school, his scattered record in showing up to National Guard service even though it kept him from Vietnam, his long-term alcoholism with a difficult recovery process, and a record of failed businesses being continually bailed out by friends of his father.

But that’s their standard practice. Almost every anti-Obama freakout on the right that isn’t based on “there’s a n***** in the White House” is recycled from liberal rants about Bush. (The monkey jokes, of course, combined the two) Wingnuts can’t even make up their own insults. That’s how much imagination they have.

Just like the “taking our country back” meme, which was plagiarized from Howard Dean back in 2003 or so, but back then “our” referred to Americans seeing our democracy being trashed, and now it means ignorant, mostly-white dumbasses who believe everything Fox tells them.

Honestly, I’m starting to think there is a betting game going on among the upper echelon of conservative media and political circles, to see just how outlandish a claim has to be before their followers will reject it. I thought this back during the buildup to the Iraq War, too. I imagined a scene with Bush, Cheney, Rice, Rove, Rumsfeld and Powell, where Cheney was proposing leaking information about the imminent threat posed by Saddam’s fleet of remote-controlled model airplanes.

Powell: “No way! No one’s gonna believe anything THAT crazy!”
    Cheney: “Wanna bet?”

Not one quote. Not one example. Not one citation. (Pre-emptive troll-parrying – quoting someone else’s opinion about him does not equal a concrete example.).

I realize that the left had some fun parlor games psychoanalyzing Bush, so I suppose this is our due, but it’s always amusing to see how the right takes it over the top.

Damage to the brain from drugs and alcohol can also cause significant cognitive impairments. Obama once said that there were 57 states — and didn’t correct himself. Memory problems can be caused by both illicit and prescription drug use.

Oh, I correct myself. She has ONE example.

So a slip of the tongue while exhausted on the campaign trail is evidence of brain damage from drug and alcohol use.

A variety of critics have accused Obama of being too cerebral in his reaction to the undersea gusher now fouling the Gulf of Mexico, of failing to put the full force of the administration and of putting too much trust in oil company BP. NBC’s Matt Lauer asked Obama about the criticism that he should spend more time in the Gulf instead of with experts and “kick some butt.”

Obama told NBC his deliberations have been more than academic.

“I don’t sit around talking to experts because this is a college seminar,” Obama continued. “We talk to these folks because they potentially have the best answers, so I know whose ass to kick.”

Obama was being criticized for not being like Bush and going off half-cocked, and he explained why that would be a stupid thing to do.

It means that after being blindfolded and turned around three and one-third times on the front nine, she drove a golf ball six hundred yards, while in a sitting position, for a hole-in-one on the back nine.

Her accuracy and the hole-in-one are equally probable. Her professionalism in the field of psychology, and integrity as a person are also remote. Fortunately, a complete void where her conscience should be shields her from self-awareness.

With the evidence provided one is forced to conclude that she is an asshole who slept through her college classes, because her grandfather was a drunken Muslim pervert who dropped her on her head from a third story window, after sexually abusing her in front of her clinically apathetic mother. Of course, I can’t be certain of this, because her sleeping in class may have been due to something entirely different.

Being a tad creeped out by it is understandable – in an age where a pandemic of Emo Flu sufferers are constantly “expressing themselves” as to the exact nature of their spiritual diaper-rash, it’s definitely unusual … but labelling it psychopathology means we get to take down your proverbial shingle & whup you with it until symptoms of an IQ occur.

And people like Robin of Berkeley call him ego-driven, narcissistic, aggressive, vulgar, naive, brain-damaged and etc. all the while supporting people who:

    - grandstandingly suspend an election campaign to single-handedly take on a financial crisis (and then do nothing)

    - have to be restrained, diva-like, from upstaging her own running mate at his concession speech

    - blithely gabble talking points while behind her turkeys are being slaughtered

    - takes it personally when someone uses a common political phrase like “lipstick on a pig.”

    - incites violence with campaign rhetoric like “reload” and images of crosshairs

    - campaigns with people who depict the president with a bone in his nose

    - has to write notes on her hand

    - gets into flame wars with comedians

Also, I am easily distracted. This comes also from the comments:

Here’s my theory about how such a wussy, kowtowing wimp as Obama could get elected president:

    1) The culture of the “metrosexual” has become so entrenched via media and marketing that more than 50 percent of the voters are effeminate men and the women who are attracted to them.

    2) It’s been shown that all the estrogen ending up in our water supplies has reduced the sperm counts of American men. Hormones are powerful things; it’s bound to have affected their psycho-emotional make-up as well–even to the extent that they could actually vote for such an obviously beta male.

    3) Everyone talks about “white guilt”–but what about “penis guilt”? Decades of indoctrination by radical feminists have convinced millions of women and even men that testosterone and Y chromosomes are inherently bad. Beta males, or metrosexuals, have thereby become the ideal for far too many people. Perhaps the 2008 election was simply the year the metrosexual culture reached some sort of critical mass.

    -

It’s the metrosexuals! That’s why we have Prezbo (no, really, someone called him that. It wasn’t this commenter, but it easily could have been.) in power: the metrosexuals and their penis guilt. I dunno what that means, but just from having it in my copy buffer, I expect to get lots of interesting junk mail this week.

And then there’s also this beautiful line from a comment rife with less fragrant bullshit about God punishing us with Obama:

    -
Was he sexually abused? Perhaps, but we abuse sex all the time–it is used to sell everything–it is on every TV show, every movie and is more and more gratuitous and graphic.

    -

And suddenly I understand why Robin has patients, assuming she does: there are people out there who actually *are* less sane than she, and must truly admire her.

I believe that there are communists and people duped by them in the Catholic Church, just as there are in our universities and media outlets. But even though my pastor’s homilies sometimes raise my blood pressure, there is one simple reason I will never quit the Catholic Church: It was founded by Jesus Christ, and HE is the one I love!! He is present in the Eucharist, not only spiritually, as He is anytime two or more of any denomination gather in His name, but physically and TOTALLY. If you really believe this, you would never want to leave. If you don’t believe this, then you’re not really a Catholic anyway. In the Eucharist, and in the other sacraments as well, Jesus connects with us very personally and intimately–NO MATTER WHO THE PRIEST IS. The Apostles were flawed people, but Jesus founded His Church on them anyway. And remember the image He used of the wheat and the tares (weeds): He let us know that there would be flawed people–even wicked people–in the Church all the way up to the time when He returns. He never said anything about QUITTING the Church just because the people in it are flawed! The fullness of Christian revelation is in the Catholic Church–so OF COURSE that is the one that Satan attacks the most!! It is spiritual warfare, and to quit the Church is like going AWOL. A brave soldier hangs in there, and keeps fighting. The weapon, of course, is prayer. Pray hard for your priests and bishop–we need faithful “prayer warriors” more than anything else!

The union will [attempt to] have a union health care ‘professional’ do an evaluation of someone perhaps because they often as not get a kickback from a ‘provider.’ The motivation is usually about politics and money rather than representing a member under contract.

There was a Gallup poll in 2006. 39% of Americans surveyed felt that Muslims should have to carry special identification, even if they were American citizens. When Jerry Klein suggested, as an experiment, that Muslims should be made to wear distinctive tatoos or signs – yellow triangles, perhaps? – quite a few of those 39% called in to congratulate him, with a few suggesting that all should be deported and a few more suggesting that they should be rounded up and brought together – “concentrated,” if you will – in en”camp”ments.

But yes, you’re right, the real threat of fascism in America is the fact that a political satire website routinely prints things you don’t like.

I loves it! I feel some vicarious pride, since I think I was the one who initially noted that it looked like Unca Sam was straining over a difficult dump, which got the TP and the plunger added in the first place. I gives my hearty endorsement to the improvements!

Actually, it may have been zsa.

I do remember way back in the mists of time commenting on how that needed to be p-shopped…but it may have been on a post where the author just linked to the Stinker site. In any case, obviously I wasn’t the only one who saw the t-shop possibilities inherent in the Stinker logo, and perhaps not the first, either.

Why oh why did I get out of the boat?

Because Obama will not change. He will not learn from his mistakes. He will not grow and mature from on-the-job experience. In fact, over time, Obama will likely become a more ferocious version of who he is today.

If I thought this person was half as intelligent as Hanlon’s Razor denies she must be, I’d think this passage above was the main point – a sleazy pre-emption of the royal ass-kicking the author must know is due the Conservative movement- and fears will come from Obama, who to be sure would do a thorough job of it, if he could be arsed.

It must be a coincidence due to the fact that they’re both crazy that she and Bill Kristol can write the same occasionally.

Obama suffers from the most debilitating affliction in the movement conservative list of emotional/mental disorders: He’s an adult.

Now if he could just come to the realization that the majority of the opposition is composed of spoiled, petulant toddlers who will not believe government can work. The rest are adults who do believe it can work, but have a vested interest in impeding its goals.

Neither group is inclined to cooperate or compromise. They will not (and to some extent cannot) be part of the solution.

Mr. Obama, take your lumps for failing at bi-partisanship. It never stood a chance.

[A] “lot of what R of B says is exactly what many armchair psychologists on the left said of Dubya.”

Almost everything they say about President Obama is stuff we said about Dubya, from the armchair psychoanalysis to the policy assessments to the cheap gags. They are totally lacking in creativity, and in understanding of what our actual complaints were.

I even saw a Teabagger holding a sign reading “Will Someone Please Give Him a Blowjob So We Can Impeach Him?”, blissfully unaware of how we coined that phrase to contrast the trumped-up nonsense under which Clinton was impeached with the blatant crimes for which Bush was not.

[To say nothing of the fact that if President Obama let it be known he wanted a blowjob, there would be a line past the Smithsonian of women and men volunteering, while it's doubtful that anyone would be willing to take one for the team on Dubya's account.]

I’m struck by the numerous assertions of Obama’s character (“he’s flat,” “he’s aggressive”, “he’s thin-skinned”, “he has a gargantuan ego,” “he’s out of touch”) backed up by….absolutely no concrete examples.

Not one quote. Not one example. Not one citation.

Me too. I was following Wo’C and wingnuts were coming up with this right from the beginning. Talk about reading into things (not to mention p r o j e c t i o n).

Obama suffers from the most debilitating affliction in the movement conservative list of emotional/mental disorders: He’s an adult.

Well, I think what pisses wingnuts off about adults is their habit of pointing out reality and stating when the ideas of idiots are, in fact, idiotic. And they keep doing it over and over again – “Cutting taxes to cure a defict is stupidity”, “A country with rising division between rich and poor will not stand”, “Never get involved in a land war in Asia”. Essentially they hate adults for nagging them.

So their major problem with Obama is that they think he’s a nagger. I have no idea why they just don’t come out and say this…

First off — Best. Photoshop. EVER!!! Seriously. That’s fucking genius.

jim’s rant upthread is brilliant (I am totes stealing “emo flu”). One quibble, however:

Regardless of whether his public image rubs you the wrong way – or whether his policies make you has a big sad – it’s pretty obvious that Obama is so utterly fucking ultra-stable that one would think close proximity to gunfire would get little more than a raised eyebrow & a “tut-tut” from the guy.

You forget: They have to paint Obama has an unstable, treacherous — dare I say, an angry — black man.

It’s just another in a long list of dog whistles they tend to blow in order to get their base all riled up.*

I really thought they’d be less obvious about it, but at this point I’m not sure why they don’t just yell “NIGGER! NIGGER! NIGGER!” and get it the hell over with already. All this being sneaky about it is just annoying.

    (*Totally non-veiled mouthhug reference.)
