The New England anti-war movement just had a meeting with about 400 attending (I believe this is an actual number without “revolutionary inflation” – it’s not from an ANSWER report). The history nerd in me would like to point out that there were four Awakenings, not two. But since the Second one was about abolitionism and the Third one involved the Social Gospel and the Progressive Movement, I can see why they’d gloss over those two.
The Christian in me would like to object to the use of religious imagery, but I know better than to expect anyone else to – being a corporate/political whore’s been second nature for too many churches for too many years.

I’m not sure what makes me want to vomit more. Sarah Palin advocating mass killing (think 9/11 times 300 and spread out over an entire country instead of a few city blocks) for political gain, the fact that she manages to talk about it with that same happy oblivious not-a-care-in-the-world grin on her face as when she’s talking about hockey moms or basketball, or just the fact that the statement was taken in stride by her adoring supporters and barely even noticed by the press or her opponents.
