Device tells you if you’re boring
MIT Media Lab researchers are building a device to help autistic people determine if they’re boring or annoying the person they’re talking to. The “emotional social intelligence prosthetic device” is a camera that clips on eyeglasses and feeds images to a small computer that uses image recognition software to characterize emotions. If the listener doesn’t seem to be engaged, the device vibrates to alert the wearer.

In all seriousness, if that emotionometer device works anything like as well in real life as it did in the trial, it will be a massive, massive boon for higher functioning autistic people. Trying to interpret other people’s mental states and nonverbal cues is extremely hard and extremely distressing for many of them.

I thought the Ole Perfesser really liked Big Government, at least when it’s dressed in an elephant’s skin. Same thing with Big Media, as long as Murdoch or Moon own it.
Well, I’ll be damned. Maybe he’s working undercover, trying to bring down The Powers That Be by sucking them off so hard they crumple in exhaustion. I bet that’s it.

That means that instead, it’s about time that I started relating to you my experiences reading conservative blogs.
Wowza! My ESIPD just vibrated so hard it fell off my glasses. I’d best pick pick up and reboot the danged device.
