Teh Why

For the children

Thought for the day

When I punch a punching bag, I like to imagine that it’s my imagination … and I’m punching it for tricking me into imagining that it’s not a punching bag.

Me too – I keep hearing what a great deal everything is in SF.

Remember all the kerfuffle in ‘06 about San Francisco Values?

My problem is that I live in the east bay so couldn’t get home if I had as many drinks as I would want to. Must strategize…

TG – bring a designated driver. (Then we’ll have someone to make fun of for not drinking.)

Dude, it’s awesome that you’re having this event, but please make this your last post on it. It becomes a bit boring for the 99% of us who have no chance of attending to read constant updates on what the 1% are planning on doing. I recall a Drinking Sadlyly a couple of years ago that inspired several posts, none of them of any interest to the vast majority of us.

I know I’ll get assaulted for saying all this, but whatever. It’s just the truth.

  11. M. Bouffant said,

    July 17, 2009 at 6:06

Aw, don’t worry about it, the drinking establishment has been chosen & it’ll be over in 48 hrs., so no chance of interminable postings on “Where do you want to booze?” & so on.

(The Pacific Coast knows how to do these things.)

  12. D. Aristophanes said,

NDP – I know, I know … it’s just a marketing thing … you never know who might want to show up but hasn’t heard about the meet-up yet. I’ll try to bump it down in a couple hours.

I’m on the Pacific Coast, so I believe you. Sorry to be so bitchy. I’m just jealous that I can’t be there.

  14. Xecklothxayyquou Gilchrist said,

I’m jealous too. I should hop the train out there – SFO is the only place Amtrak goes from Salt Lake City anymore.

Umm… the Edinburgh Castle is a ten minute bus ride from my apartment. When I lived in Boston, the Sadlys were kind enough to have their fests within… you know, walking distance of me.

Wal, shee-yit, I used to live at 851 Post St. (several lifetimes ago). I could have rolled back down the hill from 950 Geary.

Why do I suspect that that theory may not have gone untested.

  18. M. Bouffant said,

Actually, I wasn’t quite legal then, & had no fake ID. Had to go to the less strict liquor stores.

How do you find the Sadly crowd in that monster of a place (if I remember it correctly) anyhow?

‘Yo, wench, where are the cynical liberals at?’ is just going to get me pointed to, you know, everyone ‘cept the crowd neat the TV.

  21. Jennifer said,

Wish I could go. But San Fran is quite a hike from Little Rock. You are however meeting up on my b-day, so have one for me or do some kind of a scuse my finGAHs toast.

  22. zombie rotten mcdonald said,

DA, don’t listen to NdP. Bitter humorless liberal, yanno.

Alls you gotta do, Nom, is just do your own, parallel drinking even and blog it in real time like DA did a couple of nights ago. Bango!! Instant entertainment, for you and everybody else!!

Crissa, I didn’t think it was that big. It was easy to find Pinko Punko.

When we got the addres, however, we looked it up on Google maps street view, to see what it looked like. It showed us the ALLEY view, which featured barred windows, an old derelict car, and a homeless guy peeing. We wondered what kind of hellhole PP was taking us to drink in.

Of course, the real entrance is not nearly so fearful, and a good time was had.

    True Story.

Wow. No one has seemed into a Boston Drinking Sadlyly (or… no one bothers reading my comments, which is entirely possible and fair). This is your last chance, Boston people, because I’m not organizing one when I’ve got little Studebaker to chase around, and he’s getting ready to debut…

  26. Jennifer said,

Anyone who wants to vote on a Boston S/N-fest date, I’m thinking it should probably be one of the first two weekends in August. Thoughts? Opinions?

I think I’ll let him make his presence known in his current, belly-protected form.

Have one for me. Last time I was at Edinburgh Castle, (around 1980 or so) you could send out to a fish-and-chips place around the corner and get your dinner delivered wrapped in newspaper. These days it looks like they do their own food, which could either be good or bad. (most bars are not known for their fine cuisine)

Try the McEwan’s Export if you want something a little lighter than Guinness.

since I am in Des Moines, and a drinking sadlyly event is unlikely since there are very few Sadlies living near to me, I would like to propose a wedding party. All Teh Ghey Sadlies who wish to wed but live in places where nuptials are not allowed should hie themselves to Des Moines, get married, and have a weekend of fun. I mean, seriously! Why would anyone not want me hanging around them while they’re on their honeymoon? Sounds like a win-win for all involved!
