ABOVE: Pajamas Media’s new bathroom innovation keeps people from
pissing all over the bathroom floor.

Shorter Power Stooges:

John Hinderaker, Powerline:
First Tommy Lee, Now John Edwards

  • Pay no attention to Mark Sanford. Andrew Young says he found a tape showing John Edwards doing it doggy-style with Rielle Hunter

Paul Mirengoff, Powerline:
Update

  • John, you ignorant slut. Who the fuck would believe somebody who stole a kid’s baseball cards?

Bonus Paul Mirengoff, Powerline:
The Roots of an Incoherent Policy

  • Reality is a vastly over-rated foreign policy

Scott Johnson, Powerline:
Yo! Don’t Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’ Foshizzle

  • When Chief Justice John Roberts was in his twenties and working in the Reagan White House, he already saw the dangers of Negro “music” from the likes of Michael Jackson and Prince. How cool is that?

‘Shorter’ concept created by Daniel Davies and perfected by Elton Beard. We are aware of all Internet traditions.™

is he talking about doggy style or anal in the first clip….? I’m so confused

[btw, first two linky's are the same] [Tintin adds: they are supposed to be the same.]

“I hate to sound like one of Mr. [Michael] Jackson’s records,” Roberts wrote, “constantly repeating the same refrain…”

Roberts feared sounding like a Michael Jackson record as he sought to prevent…

That’s some high quality writing over there.

    * Reality is a vastly over-rated foreign policy

My Examiner column argues that President got it wrong in Iran by misapplying a flawed theory of international relations, namely realism

Always trust the shorter, always trust the shorter.

He then goes to redefine “realism” as some kind of bizarre über-strawman rather than, I don’t know “the tendency to view or represent things as they really are.” Words! They mean something!

“Yo! Don’t Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’ Foshizzle”? Seriously?

Considering the subsequent scandals involving Jackson, perhaps some credit is due Roberts for distancing the White House from all that?

Imagine the sport we could have had with a Reagan letter….

    Three Stooges indeed-diddley-doo.

Seriously, the Powerline dorks’ views are so farcical these days that they’re veering dangerously—and hilariously—into pure slapstick.

These chumps have got nothing—NOTHING—left in Teh Krazy Tank. Even their reserves are depleted to a few molecules.

What’s next, Powerline? Poking the eyes and tweaking the nose of an Obama voodoo doll? Holy fucking shit, grow up already, you silly and delusional dickheads.

Pah! I knew there was trouble brewing when they started selling Johnny Mathis records in the same section as Andy Williams.

Then came Jimi Hendrix, not only of a darker complexion, but an unrepentent lefty as well!

Bless you Tintin. That quote gets thrown around a lot in my Stoogeophile filled home.

a flawed theory of international relations, namely realism

The problem with reality is that it doesn’t work in theory, only in practice.

Edwards and Hunter made a sex tape, which Young discovered among Hunter’s possessions.

So, um, did Rielle Hunter also die last week and leave her possessions to Young? Or did she accept his invitation to stay with him and his wife, and he took the opportunity to rifle through her stuff and play her tapes?

I guess the moral of the Andrew Young stories is: Do not leave him alone with your stuff.

@’Tintin,’ ‘Till’ and ‘a concerned citizen’:

You’re unfairly maligning Mirengoff to some extent. Realism is the name of a specific academic theory of international relations that goes a bit beyond “the tendency to view or represent things as they really are.” Mirengoff is not saying that the basis of a sound foreign policy is to ignore reality. Rather, he’s making a reasonably legitimate objection to using realism to to guide US policy towards Iran.

I happen to think Mirengoff’s approach is wrong, but its certainly not off-the-wall batshit insane not-even-wrong.

You’ve had that image for what, how long now? And it is still not animated so that the heads turn from side to side like the clown heads at a carnival side-show? Hmmph.

Pfft. I’m fairly well acquainted with the jargon of a few different fields, but “realism” is an incredibly crappy choice of term for that concept.

Regardless, I stand by the über-strawman thing, where Mirengoff is simply ascribing absurd beliefs to Obama, then attacking them. I mean, he’s clearly explained his reasons for his cautious statements on Iran, and they have zilch to do with perceiving its government as a rational actor. Arguably the opposite.

  17. Curmudgeon said,

IR realism has much in common with Randian objectivism: both concepts have pithy names that attempt to give the concepts far more gravitas than they deserve at face value. Think of it as propaganda.

Mirengoff wants more of an abstract expressionist approach to foreign policy. More de Kooning, less Courbet!

Also, when I see that “Free Newt” pop-up on Powerline, I keep thinking that they finally put that fucker’s ass in jail for something.
