There is a difference between absolute poverty and relative poverty. If you have a house, a tv a car, food on the table and so on - you just have less money than some people. That is relative poverty and you’re better off than most people in the world, or who ahve ever lived.
Absolute poverty is the Hobbesian thing, and that we do have very little of in this country.
