Briefly Noted

George Bush screwing up a basic open G chord on a cheesy Presidential-seal guitar, unprepared for balladeering without pick or strap, right hand splayed with thumb twiddling horizontally on low E string

John Kerry correctly playing a G barre chord on a vintage Gibson ES-125, properly equipped with pick and strap, demonstrating mastery of right-hand palm-muting technique

I think we’ve learned once again that any president who can’t competently play Louie Louie isn’t qualified to govern America.

While this is somewhat off-topic….
Instead of fake-playing guitar, why doesn’t our “compassionate” prez get the hell off the ranch and help with the gas problem.
SUSPEND THE FEDERAL GAS TAX!!!

Hey–
Nero fiddled while Rome burned
Bush strummed while New Orleans burned (and flooded)…
Bush is up there with the Pantheon of Greats!

Gavin, hee hee. My very first thought when I saw that picture of Shrub for the first time was “Why is he playing an Ab chord using the open G fingering? That’d sound horrible!”.
Kerry looks good in that picture. Tony Blair can reputedly play a pretty mean Stratocaster, it’d have been nice to hear that Fender/Gibson blend. *Sigh*

Kerry *does* look good in that picture. Damn you, Ann Coulter and Peggy Noonan! You’ve cursed us with a shitty statesman and lousy scenery to boot!

With his guitar-playing and cake-eating on Monday and Tuesday, Dubya managed to bring to mind two great leaders (Sadly, No!) of the past: Nero (fiddling while Rome burned) and Marie (“let them eat cake”) Antoinette.
