Through the Looking Glass

A case of mass Obamanoia is raging through Wingnutistan and seems to have pushed some of our favorite wingnuts through the looking glass to that place where up is down, war is peace, and stupidity is genius. You know, that place where Jonah Goldberg is a model for Calvin Klein briefs, where Pastor Swank is a chaired faculty member of Yale, and where K-Lo’s latest book The Joy of No Sex is a runaway bestseller. Here are three recent examples, each presented without further comment.

Jay Nordlinger:

And I’ll tell you something funny: I think there has been more partisan politics in New York concert halls lately than I notice in the offices of National Review!

Pastor David “Who Would Jesus Torture” Stokes:

In fact, it is commonplace for American personnel to be the recipients of abuse meted out by the Guantánamo detainees.

Nathan Tabor:

The idea that our nation’s Democratic leaders are anti-black, anti-minority, and anti-homosexual is an inconvenient truth. It is uncomfortable to read because it is uncomfortable to write. But, as an old adage goes, the truth will make you free. Only when Democrats confront their own bigoted demons can true progress begin, can we finally heal as a nation.

Are we really, really sure that RenewAmerica isn’t a parody site?

Democratic leaders believe that children must be taught evolution, and they cringe at the common-sense notion of intelligent design.

    Uh…

The evolutionary theory promoted by Charles Darwin teaches survival of the fittest. That would place homosexuals at the bottom of the chain, since they cannot procreate. Under evolution, they are destined to die out, forced out of existence by the heterosexuals who can procreate.

    Where do you even begin?

Wouldn’t intelligent design imply that God the abstract, unnamed and totally non-religious designer created homosexuals?

Oh, good grief. It’s like that scene from Hannibal where he forces Krendler to eat his own brain. This scene is being played out daily in the salons of wingnuts across America.

Metaphorically, anyway. I’d be horrified to think they were really eating each other’s brains, if not actually surprised.

Sadly No, it seems them white wimmen are undergoing a greater ‘genocide’ (as Tabor describes the effect of abortion.)

Nordlinger repeatedly compares exuberant liberal crowds to North Koreans; “People were almost North Korean in their robust unanimity.” I wonder if he ever accidentally tuned into a broadcast of Promise Keepers meeting or Creflo Dollar while trying to find Fox News on his cable box?
Seems like Wingnutz don’t want to go to an affair where their point of view may not be the unanimous one. I haven’t noticed a lot of dissent at the athletic events I attended in the past few years where the war was loudly and vigorously cheered and celebrated, and the maiming of our soldiers was lauded by thousands of fans. While I didn’t see the gory in a double amputee, I kept my peace, lest I disturb the serenity of those of Nordlinger’s mindset.

Nathan Tabor, what’s that log in your eye all about?

Seriously, what is this all about with the “Democrat sekrit racism”.

Like, no human is ever bigoted in any way, shape or form? The difference, Tamboring Man, is that Democrats are aware of their bigotry and try to look past it. Most of the time, we succeed, some of the time we don’t.

Republicans, on the other hand, couldn’t really give a crap about racism or bigotry, which is precisely why they lost the Hispanic vote in 2008.

I’m getting the image from wingnuttia that guantanamo detainees are supervillains. Perhaps Batman could be persuaded to open up Arkam Asylum to house them? Plus, if they escaped, then only fictional Gotham city would be at risk and the dark knight could ka-pow them.

  18. Michael G said,

    January 27, 2009 at 16:13

The charge of Democratic racism comes from this liberal idea of measuring the world to see how to compares to our values. For instance, liberals believe in racial inequality. So when they measure and find that skin color is a strong predictor of how much money you make, they believe they’ve found a problem and start to look for solutions. This extends to other ideas — economic mobility, freedom of speech, etc.

The modern conservative moves in the opposite direction. From values come “truths”: a value for racial equality becomes “the races are equal”. Then measurement is not necessary. If statistics show that their truth may be flawed, then damn all of statistic.

The prize is “two free tickets (a $500 value) to American Experiment’s 2009 Annual Dinner, with Charles Krauthammer, on June 1.”

Mr. Tabor is missing a lot of the hate exhibited by Democrats. Using this logic, Democrats hate all extinct species. If they hadn’t believed in natural selection all the species that ever existed would still exist. If only we had believed in intelligent design, we would still be able to appreciate the living glory of trilobites, T. Rex, wooly mammoths, eohippus and Neanderthals.

Because our thoughts control geological events on earth and its climate. And THAT is why Wingnutistan is not worried about global warming. If it happens, it will only be because a tipping point of humans BELIEVED it would happen.

I believe that the far right just went so far right that it met the far left in the form of New Age thinking.
