Miss Sheehan doesn't speak for me on... well, much of anything. Except that I agree with her that Bush hasn't rationalised the Iraq war at all.

She's not a policy expert, and the fact that her son died doesn't make her one (And I haven't really heard any liberals say she was).

But who cares? She's a grieving mother who wants one of the men responsible for her son's death to explain why he died. As far as I'm concerned, Bush has a responsibility to meet with her, especially given that he is (Or was) on a fucking vacation.

If Cindy Sheehan was a Columbian drug lord who was camped outside the estate of George fucking Washington himself, asking why her son died in the revolutionary war, I would still support her.

Casey Sheehan is dead because of George Bush's actions. That makes Mr. Bush accountable to Casey's mother, period. Everything else is meaningless.

I agree: ever since we broke through the bottom of the barrel, we've been in free fall into deeper reaches of Hell. Mark "Man-on-dog" Williams is proof of that, if more were needed.

MOVE AMERICA FORWARD FAQ

Q. What is Move America Forward?

A. Move America Forward is an astroturf group created by the same people who keep incredibly unpopular, toxic radio personalities such as Melanie Morgan and Michael Savage on the air in San Francisco, contrary to any kind of business logic.

(Here's a tip for budding radio entrepreneurs: San Francisco--Not the hottest market for right-wing talk radio! Have you tried programming *anything* else on AM 560? Why even have programming this unpopular? You'd get higher ratings just running the Gold Bond Powder commercial 24/7.)

Move America Forward is a grass-roots organization like MoveOn.org, except that it has no grass-roots. It's staffed by the same 20 Freeper trolls who appear everywhere else that a crowd of Freeper trolls is called for.

the meat:

<em>Supporters of President Bush clashed with anti-war activists as they wound their way through California after rallying in the hometown of Cindy Sheehan, the mother who started a protest camp outside Bush's Texas ranch.

Conservative activists and military families embarked on the tour Monday, calling it "You don't speak for me, Cindy!" A verbal confrontation erupted when the caravan arrived in Sacramento and was met by anti-war protesters chanting for Bush to bring home the troops.</em>

and this good stuff:

<em>Some caravan members called the anti-war protesters communists and said they were "aiding and abetting the enemy." Those comments enraged Sheehan supporter Dee Ann Heath, who said she has two sons serving in Iraq and another preparing to leave.

"I don't support the war, but I support my sons," she said. "I simply want them to come home."</em>

hope this looks ok, as i'm pretty green with the html and the preview makes it look like one big paragraph.

Chazmo has a great post conferring a high moral power on some guys' widow because she rips Juan Cole "a new asshole"- um Chaz, how is some widow talking about her husband any different than Cindy Sheehan talking about her dead son? Oh woops I forgot, no logic can apply. Carry on.

For ronb:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cindy_Sheehan

"Although a lifelong member of the Democratic Party[6], Sheehan did not become politically active until her son's death.

"Sheehan and other grieving military families met with Bush in June 2004 at Fort Lewis, near Tacoma, Washington, two months after her son's death. In a June 24, 2004, interview with the Vacaville Reporter published soon after the meeting, she expressed concerns about the president's justifications for war, as well as the way the war had been handled, but also told the reporter that she believed President Bush was sincere about wanting freedom for the Iraqi people, and was sorry for the loss of her son. [7]

"On July 4, 2005 she gave an interview [8] in which she described the meeting as "one of the most disgusting experiences I ever had, and it took me almost a year to even talk about it." She described President Bush as being "detached from humanity" and said that "his mouth kept moving, but there was nothing in his eyes or anything else about him that showed me he really cared or had any real compassion at all." She continued, "He didn?t even know our names," asking "Who we'all honorin' here today?" when he first entered the room, and then referring to her as "Ma" or "Mom".

"Sheehan is also one of the nine founding members of Gold Star Families for Peace, an organization founded in January 2005 that seeks to end the occupation of Iraq and provide support for families of fallen soldiers. As of August 2005, at least 63 other relatives of fallen soldiers are listed as members.

"Although she had spoken publicly against the Iraq war and occupation since 2004, Sheehan gained national attention in early August 2005 when she traveled to President Bush's Prairie Chapel Ranch just outside Crawford, Texas, during his five-week summer vacation there."

I knew exactly who Cindy Sheehan was and what she stood for before she announced her trip to Crawford.

In a June 24, 2004, interview with the Vacaville Reporter published soon after the meeting, she expressed concerns about the president’s justifications for war, as well as the way the war had been handled, but also told the reporter that she believed President Bush was sincere about wanting freedom for the Iraqi people, and was sorry for the loss of her son. [7]

“On July 4, 2005 she gave an interview [8] in which she described the meeting as “one of the most disgusting experiences I ever had, and it took me almost a year to even talk about it.” She described President Bush as being “detached from humanity” and said that “his mouth kept moving, but there was nothing in his eyes or anything else about him that showed me he really cared or had any real compassion at all.” She continued, “He didn?t even know our names,” asking “Who we’all honorin’ here today?” when he first entered the room, and then referring to her as “Ma” or “Mom”.

“Sheehan is also one of the nine founding members of Gold Star Families for Peace, an organization founded in January 2005 that seeks to end the occupation of Iraq and provide support for families of fallen soldiers. As of August 2005, at least 63 other relatives of fallen soldiers are listed as members.

“Although she had spoken publicly against the Iraq war and occupation since 2004, Sheehan gained national attention in early August 2005 when she traveled to President Bush’s Prairie Chapel Ranch just outside Crawford, Texas, during his five-week summer vacation there.”

I knew exactly who Cindy Sheehan was and what she stood for before she announced her trip to Crawford.

Brad,
If you're looking for a "doggie" to emotionally manipulate people, how 'bout "Old Yeller"?
In addition to being a pathetic death instilling movie from that family fair company Disney, it could be a remarkable kissin' cousin to Jesus General's Operation Yellow Elephant. And since Old Yeller went sort of rabid, like the Right, we'd have to shoot them all in the end.

The more things change....

Oddly, I am reminded of a key moment in the Mahabharata: "I have killed Ashwattama!"
