Yes, we all know that lawyers initiate legal action by leaving comments in blogs, and that they use such detailed technical jargon as “illegal Internet activity.” And Marie, if you’re going to invent a law firm, could you come up with a more original name than “Acme?” I mean, where are they located, at 123 Fake Street?

Actually, you might be surprised. I had a lawyer inform my client of a pending lawsuit via an AOL email reading, in its entirety, “we coming for you.” He also liked to respond to my letters by writing on them and then faxing them back.

Well, yes. Because he was clearly spending no time or money whatsoever litigating. But even though his case was bogus, it was going to cost a lot of money to prove that it was bogus (certaintly much more than it was going to cost the plaintiff and his minimalist lawyer). I explained that to my client, who paid a large sum of money — but still less than it would have cost to litigate — to settle.

Such legal douchery. The threat of the lawsuit to the monetary and time impaired essentially renders the court system impotent. That is the best, scribbling on somebodies fax and faxing it back- not even needing to have your own paper! GENIUS!
But, I digress, was that Acme law firm from Marie’s God’s Honest IP? I thought it was Yosef making a funny. I think it would have been better to bait her intoo a second communique. Like taking the site down for an hour with just a black pages stating “lawsuit threatened, Sadly we are No more.”

This just keeps on gettting weirder and weirder and better and better! Now I’m going to have to check in several times tonight to see what happens. It’ll be frought with danger for me though.(My g/f and I were supposed to go on a trip today but it got derailed due to car problems. The g/f is furious. If she catches me on the interwebs I’m doomed!)
