The problem here is simple–is Republicans think Democrats are just like them, just reversed.
When Republican corruption is exposed, Republicans rally around their corrupt members and defend them at all costs.
Thus, conservatives expect Democrats to do the same thing when Democratic corruption is exposed. In their minds, we Democrats have shot ourselves in the foot by harping on Republican corruption, because some Democrats are corrupt, too! Hypocrisy, etc.!
…of course, Democrats aren’t like Republicans; we want corruption everywhere to be rooted out and prosecuted, even if those corrupt people are Democrats. In fact, eliminating corrupt Democrats is a good thing, because then we’re no longer tarnished by their corruption.

For some bizarre reason, if I look at S,N! in several web browsers I don’t see any updates since Dec. 7 (Jackie **GINGRICH** Cushman). This seems to be true on my Mac at home (in Safari, Camino & Firefox) as well as on some browsers in the office on the Windoze. But I know that there are later posts because when I check using IE on my office Windoze box I see the updates, yet IE on a Windoze PC in another office doesn’t get it. I’ve cleared the cache several times and restarted and can’t seem to get the new posts.
I see that others here are also detecting this issue. I’m glad it’s not just me, but has anyone found the bug? I also tried to report this on the contact page but every time I hit “submit” it complains that I am not allowed to access “/wordpress/” on this server. Makes it pretty impossible to report problems directly guys!!

As an additional data point, if I can get the URL for current posts via the office Internet Explorer browser, I find that if I paste them into the URL bar on the other browsers where the problem occurs I can load them. It’s only if I go to the Sadly,No! home page that it looks as if there are no post-Dec.7 posts.

FWIW, I have had no time-travel problems and the RSS feeds seem to be functioning as normal. I do not visit the main page (often) because I use the RSS feed, so who knows.

We haven’t found the bug yet, but it seems to be a DNS propagation issue. That is, we moved to a new server, but the Internet hasn’t adjusted and keeps pointing to the old one. This is supposed to fix itself after a few days, so it’s quite weird that it’s still hapening.

There are some serious reasons though why we Democrats do need to be more concerned about corruption. For many, Democratic corruption hits closer to home (but affects our national political process). What’s the matter with Kansas? Well, perhaps Joe Kansan’s idea of liberals and Democrats in office is shaped by the heirs to the Pendergast machine in Kansas city.
The other issue is that GOP corruption is meaningless from the point of view of the GOP’s own ideology: why does it matter if some GOoPer is corrupt? that just proves whatever the GOP says about gummint correct anyway, don’t it?
But we Democrats claim that government can do some good. That means we need to be good at governance in order to back up our claims.
Not only do we Democrats need to clean house in IL, but also in NJ, etc.
OTOH, am I the only one who fails to see how, in the grand scheme of things, what Blagojovic did is so bad? I am all for throwing him under the bus and making a big deal out of demonstrating that we Dems. are for good, clean governance … but compared with the pay for play going on at all levels of government and in both parties, how is what Blagojovic did any different than what any number of politicians do all the time? Is it that Blagojovic has a funny sounding name? After all, when Blagojovic sought bribes, nobody died!
Even still, though, even the perception that politics is just inherently corrupt is bad for the Dems as we are the ones that argue that government can do some good … “all politicians are bad” merely echoes the GOP rhetoric about teh evil big gummint. Nu? We Dems do need to clean house, etc.

When the Republicans have a corruption scandal, a good number of them rally to support the perp – viz. Tom Delay or the aforementioned Cunningham. Name one liberal or Democrat trying to protect Blaggo.
I think Rahmbo ratted him out, with the approval of his boss. Good for them. They knew a shakedown was happening, and they knew someday it would come out. So they got it out now. Blagojovic just couldn’t take a fuckin’ hint when he was disinvited to Denver, so Barrack’s hit man took him down.

Trochee is a trochee, and anapaest is an anapaest, but iamb is not an iamb(at least not as it is correctly accented and currently used), spondee is not usually a spondee(though it is when I say it, since I say it wrong[I say iAMB, too, because I'm a lazy-ass cheater]), dactyl is definitely not a dactyl, usw.(though as a lazy-ass cheater, I mentally file it as “DAAHCtylos”.)
