Hey, I’ve read Thomas Carlyle’s charmingly dead-earnest “Occasional Discourse on the Nigger Question.” I know how a good wine cellar in a historic English country manor completely disguises the fact that it’s a converted dungeon with iron rings for manacles sunk deep into the walls. I know how much more useful cane knives are than cotton sacks when carrying out a well-planned uprising — dozens and dozens of times on each dinky little island. I understand the “white vs. black vs. colored” dynamic that gets played out over and over, most recently in South Africa but also, earlier, in Haiti (black runaway slaves go guerilla, repeatedly kick French ass until Napoleon gets bored and pulls out, and then methodically slaughter every colored human on the island, regardless of which side they fought on — the coloreds always lose).

Know your black history! Or don’t. This is one of those things Americans just don’t get. Admit it, when you read “colored” you immediately flash on Bull Connor knocking down protestors with a fire hose while Freedom Marchers get dragged out of a nearby diner in handcuffs, don’t you? Mariah Carey never even enters your mind. The worst thing about U.S. society as a whole is that every single religious, racial and ethnic group in the world has a couple regiments of wingnuts here carrying on feuds that started centuries ago thousands of miles away. It’s like a series of overlapping riots with millions of pissed-off spectators firing dead batteries and cherry bombs through the barricades with slingshots. Ugh.

For what it’s worth, I recall that Powell is a West Indian, and to paraphrase Chris Rock, West Indians hate Niggras too. If he’d brought a polite, well-travelled black co-ed home for dinner back in college, his mother would have driven her out of the house with repeated blows from a broom handle while his father smacked the ass off of him.

The slavers stopped in the Carribean first, and sold off the cream of the crop, then headed north to Cotton Country and auctioned off the remainders to the highest bidder. It’s ugly, it’s hateful, but unfortunately it’s more or less accurate.

I can only hope the son of a bitch has set a date and time to take the Prussian officer’s way out, and has decided to kick it Bulworth style in the meantime because, hey, why not. Dress up like a Village Person complete with hard hat. Get down with his bad self. Then succumb to the shame, the legacy of playing a tool for an idiot king in front of the whole world, the complete vacuum of honor, the nighttime shrieking of the unquiet uniformed dead… and BANG! Now that’s change I can believe in.

Actually, you're finding the story on Fox due to State 2. This is a real report by various sources (Laurence O'Donnell) that Powell might be close to backing Obama publicly, so I assume Fux Nooz is at Stage 2: Undermine. Ha ha! Stupid negro-dancing Colin Powell want vote Obama! Ha ha!
