Right-Wing Tantrum Of Hte Day*

Posted at 23:36 by Gavin M.

As my exile in the Extranet continues (i.e., in the place full of physics and people through which one blunders when not online, for instance when refilling one’s beverage), I’m heartsick at the wonderful right-wing frenzies that I’ve been unable to delve into, save shallowly and in passing.

The wonderfullest has been the bug-eyed shrieking about the Nazi-Stalin thuggery of the Obama campaign, as seen here. I keep worrying that I’ll miss the chance to write about it, but then day after day, the victimological bedwetting — and the utter nullity of self-awareness and historical memory — just keep going and going, like some metaphor similar to, but not as hackneyed as, that of hte* Energizer Bunny.

But now it’s the Gwen Ifill thing as well. Here’s Malkin:

Try as she might to deflect questions about her impartiality, her biases — and her conflict of interest — are clear. But don’t you dare breathe a word about any of this. You know what will happen if you do…

RACIST!

Meanwhile, a sort of synthetic Cubism has been achieved with the following astonishing piece of writing, which deserves far better treatment than time permits:

Who-What Are Obama Supporters?

It is not Obama and his gang of thug Socialists who confuse me. I clearly recognize the principles of socialism and Communism in all of Obama’s “silk purse” speeches. It isn’t hard acknowledging right from wrong. In my last essay “Is any thing in America Sacred to Obama?” which lists many of Obama’s criminal friends, actions, and intentions which reveal a ruthless and desperate character. There is nothing I wrote in that piece that isn’t already known to all of the Democrats currently in office and the general public. There is nothing I wrote in that article that hasn’t already been written in long, scary detail by better writers than I. All of the information that keeps coming forward about Obama is disgusting, shameful, and proof he is unworthy to be a dog catcher let alone president. It is obvious no patriotic American will vote for Obama. He should be in jail.

What confuses me is how many people choose to support this silver plated turd in spite of the facts that has been exposed about Obama. Why?

Well okay, that’s a fair question. What I believe is happening is that each of us is voting for Barack Obama thinking that we’re the only one.

As I might’ve mentioned, I’m here and there on borrowed computers until I get my laptop back from the shop, so let me get this in here while chance permits. Scheme: Ruining the VP Debate.

Doop-de-doop, sendin’ email to all my friends. Dear Friend: Hey, whilst watching the debate tomorrow, do not at any time think of this song:

Above: The Pixies – Official Gwen Ifill Theme Music (2:57)

Excelsior!

I thought it was interesting that Gwen Ifill fell down the stairs at her house and broke her ankle, but is still going on with the show. If Palin broke her ankle you could bet your ass the debate would be so not happening.

You know, if she can’t handle Katie Couric, how is she going to handle Osama bin Laden? Just sayin’ ….

Don’t recall seeing Therese Daniels before, but she is apparently a crazy person. Pay special note to her final sentence in this thread comment, which I’m sure only sounds like a call for pre-emptive assassination:

on September 14, 2008 at 9:28 pm Therese Daniels

Fore Warned is Fore Armed, America!

Get worried Americans. Get scared. America is the object of desire by a ruthless, vicious, dangerous, and very, very rich group of Obama supporters who remain in the shadows.

While Americans have been focused upon enjoying their American way of life for the last 20 or so years, our enemies have been diligent. There is no doubt in my mind that they have been plotting to steal America one way or the other. What better way than by infiltrating the very system that makes us great—politics. Make a Muslim socialist the president. I don’t doubt for one second that Obama has been chosen to run for president when the first Muslim paid for Obama’s Harvard education. I also believe Obama is not a leader but a puppet. They have been grooming him since his early school days. They have poured millions into creating him. They will do what ever is necessary to make him president. They want America.

There is no doubt in my mind that Obama will win even though he will not be elected by votes. They will tamper with the electoral vote. They will tamper with the popular vote. He and his supporters will win at any price. No one should be surprised now or when it happens since Obama already has a track record of doing whatever it takes to get what he wants. First there is Acorn. Then there is Alice Palmer, Hilary Clinton, (stole the delegate votes), when Reverend Wright became a liability he threw him to the wolves. The list of Obama sacrificial lambs is long and scary. The worst has already begun. As much as I want McCain/Palin to win—As much as I believe the American voters will choose McCain/Palin over Obama, I fear the secret powers behind Obama will steal the election and declare Obama the winner. The legal system will convolute the facts to make it legal.

Our only hope at this time is to take Obama out of the race now.

It’s funny. The party that takes every opportunity to sidle up to the rich and powerful — military officers, corporate executives, foundation leaders, and in general any wealthier whites versus any poorer colored folk — are the most ready to perceive any tiny thing as a subversive slight to their own majesty.

They wish to behave like royalty in a land with no formal aristocracy, and they get really, really made when they aren’t treated as they think their imagined nobility would suggest.

Hey guys, I tried posting on a previous thread last night but all of my posts kept getting eaten. I finally managed to post today two threads down but for some reason my post didn’t appear until an hour after I had posted it.

I recall someone from the previous thread remarking that my last example (the mountain gorilla) of a large land animal being discovered was in 1902. Thats not true my friends, actually the Komodo Dragon wasn’t discovered by western scientists until 1910 and the grizzly-polar bear hybrid (which grows larger than both species) wasn’t discovered until 2006!

So you see the possibility remains that there are large undiscovered animal species still living in the more remote corners of the earth. Take the Amazon Rainforest for example. The Amazon Rainforest occupies an area larger than the continental United States. Most of it remains unexplored even to this day. There have been many reports of giant anacondas over one hundred feet in length living in the unexplored tributaries of the Amazon.

While most scientists would not deny that the Amazon Rainforest is capable of holding and hiding snakes of that size, they still for the most part brush of those reports as “silly native superstition.”

The Amazon Rainfoerst also reportedly holds a species of giant ground sloth (up to 7ft tall) that supposedly went “extinct” during the last ice age. Same as the giant anaconda, few scientists would deny that the Amazon is capable of holding and hiding such a large animal for so long, and yet they most arrogantly dismiss such reports as ” the stupid uneducated natives seeing things.”

Hopefully cryptozoology will someday become a respectable scientific field with universities offering college degrees.

OT or maybe not if the topic is nuttery — the transcript of the CBS veep interviews is at http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/10/01/eveningnews/main4493062.shtml. I can’t bring myself to watch the video … but:

Couric: What other Supreme Court decisions [than Roe v. Wade] do you disagree with?

Palin: Well, let’s see. There’s, of course in the great history of America there have been rulings, that’s never going to be absolute consensus by every American. And there are those issues, again, like Roe v. Wade, where I believe are best held on a state level and addressed there. So you know, going through the history of America, there would be others but …

Couric: Can you think of any?

Palin: Well, I could think of … any again, that could be best dealt with on a more local level. Maybe I would take issue with. But, you know, as mayor, and then as governor and even as a vice president, if I’m so privileged to serve, wouldn’t be in a position of changing those things but in supporting the law of the land as it reads today.

Did she just say she would uphold Roe v. Wade?

No, she said she would make it happen on a state by state basis; meaning, red states would make it illegal.

And then they could demonize blue states when people go there.

Many of whom could not afford that, anyway.

So it would be effectively illegal for the people who are driven to seek that alternative, and legal for those who can afford it.

As it stands the debate will likely be a draw. Palin’s mission is to deliver the two or three zingers that have been written for her and try not to drown during the rest of the debate. In a week the best zinger will be what people remember. At least that is the hope.

Biden should try to win but not by being an arrogant or mean SOB. But a draw is fine, as Obama is now pulling away from McCain. Palin has probably been fatally wounded by the Couric interview anyway.

    1 human raspberry
    7 bunches coyote liver, shredded
    1 cup ginger

Grate – very fatefully – the coyote liver, ginger, and the mustard. Encrust the latter combination on to the former. Leave raw but pretend it’s cooked. They’ve torched everything they’ve touched, and now they got nothin’ left.

My wife & I were discussing how many SCOTUS decisions we knew off the top of our heads.

She is a lawyer, I am a layperson. Her area of practice for quite a while is just about as far from Constitutional Law as you can get, although her collegiate law career was extremely outstanding.

She came up with about 20 decisions, I came up with six including one she didn’t have (although she knew it after I mentioned it).

She’s qualified to be VP for 20 terms and I can do it for six terms.

I read the Kathleen Parker column in today’s (Thu) paper.

One line struck me as fairly predictable. She said she is used to getting negative feedback from her columns, but it was usually sane and reasonable. However, the reaction from her anti-Moose column hit a new high. She is now receiving death threats and other assorted fun that reeks of the republican M.O.

Why are these bloodthirsty savages (republicans) not put down like the rabid dogs they are?

Their gullibility, another common M.O., used to be fun to mock. But their ability to swallow the lies about what caused the Financial Meltdown is now getting downright dangerous to America (they say CRA loans, sane people say deregulation).

What can we do with these nutjobs who have finally managed to screw up everybody in America?

Well, we’ve been predicting for months that things would get really ugly as the election approached. And we were right.

I originally thought this would be a good thing, a national catharsis where the evil fucks would expose themselves for what they are and decent people everywhere would unite in horror. And I do think that is happening to a heartening degree. Kathleen Parker seems to be getting quite the shock in this regard, for example, and if she can put two and two together and be honest about the total, maybe other non-insane Republicans can too.

But I’m now starting to think that there are way more of the really batshit fuckers than I thought, and that they are the ones who will coalesce and begin to make a case that batshit craziness and racist thuggery are the new norm. I know that the internet allows people to say things they’d never say in a public forum in the meatworld and it’s easy to overestimate the problem, but . . . If even one in a hundred is really potentially dangerous, it’s not a good thing. At all.

I really hope my first thesis is correct. Otherwise, things may get terribly bad. It may be a good idea to vote early or by absentee ballot. I’m worrying about polling place intimidation in some areas. The wingnuts are getting scarier than bathtub meth users after a six-day run, when you can actually smell violence oozing from the pores like the world’s worst cologne.

But I’m now starting to think that there are way more of the really batshit fuckers than I thought [. . .] If even one in a hundred is really potentially dangerous, it’s not a good thing.

I think that, for the large majority of the cases, the dedication to wingnuttiness is not deep enough to motivate any real-world violence, but who knows? Vigilance is about all we can rely on, if there’s no way of getting some poll watchers.

I certainly plan to vote early, though I don’t expect any trouble here. I might, if the Democrats had a ghost of a chance in Utah and made the wingnuts feel threatened, but even then I doubt much would stir up – the righties are pretty complacent here. This place is so red the air gets a bit pinkish.

Even so, I suspect that this fucknozzle doesn’t have, as he might put it, a prayer at winning the Utah governorship. He’s running as an uber-Christian Libertarian, and has publicly made quite a fool of himself in recent years. Dishonest businessman (teh Crazy Eddie of Computers, sorta), gun nut, godbag – the Sadlynauts might have a bit of fun with him.

Wow, zuzu, that is one hell of a cesspool you’ve turned up over there. I couldn’t stand more than a quick skim of about three pages.

I heard an interesting thing on Air America this morning. Apparently, Palin’s debating strong suit is the short-answer, no follow-up format. She can spout her non-answer generalities in response to a request for specifics without fear of a Couric-style shark attack (heh) asking for, you know, specifics. Tonight’s debate format favors her.

So we’re up to three reasons Palin will win tonight: (1) Low expectations. (2) Gwen Ifill is biased against her. (3) The format fits her folksy, meandering, no-answer style.

I’ll have to watch it on TiVo and read the reviews, because I’m attending a Scotch-drinking event tonight. But I am not sanguine about hte* outcome here.

    *Actual typo.

Things are very blue here in Iowa at this time and we’re not noted for violence generally, but in some places in the country i expect there may be some problems. As you say, about all we can do is be vigilant. I think, too, that a lot of them are just to chickenshit to do anything but squawk. I hope.

I have strong, happy childhood memories of going to the polls with my mom and grandparents and newer memories of taking my son with me when I voted, and I really don’t like to vote early. I imagine I’ll wait and go to the polls on election day. I’m such a sentimentalist.

I wonder if she realizes that part of the troopergate scandal is that Palin killed a multi-million dollar initiative to fight sexual assault crimes in Alaska, with an emphasis on solving cases involving children.

Monegan wanted to use the federal money to hire retired troopers and law enforcement officials, and assign them to investigate the most egregious cases of sexual assault — including those against children. [TPM]
