Is K-Lo wasted right now?
I’m sure one of her editors will be along with a mop and broom soon enough, but right now this is actually what she wrote:
I think Obama supporters are happy enough tonight. But I suspect they wanted McCain to show up tired and cranky and he didn’t he appeared a leader whose dont some of that leading.
Yeah.
AN’ YA KNOW WHAT ABOUT THAT OBAMA FELLER IS HE JUS’ AIN’T A GOOD TELLER OF TRUE STUFF AN’ HE LOOKS LIKE A BUTT!!!! BAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUUUURRRRRRRPP!!!!
Thank you, National Review, for this excellent drunken commentary.

If she’s wasted right now, she’s wasted all the time. That’s not particularly different from how she usually “writes”.

I’ve noticed that her daytime posts while stupid are a lot more coherent than her evening posts. She’s still an idiot during the day but,,,,,,oh fuck, what’s wrong with me that I’ve noticed this distinction?

Shouldn’t it be either “I done killed (or kilt?) it” or “I beez killin’ it”? That, my friends, is incoherence we can believe in.

i would like to point out at this juncture that two things will happen for sure as a result of this debate: i will drink a lot of fine scotch and i will listen to Mission of Burma very loud on these headphones.
and i will feel something approaching empathy for K Lo, though after approaching empathy what i feel will back away from it and head over to deep loathing and contempt, where what i feel will settle in comfortably.

I would just love to know Derbyshire really thinks of her. I know he’s a racist, quasi-pederast, but he does have some minimal skill as a writer. Between her being a woman, her racial handicap (that’s a steal from The Venture Brothers) and her simply not being him, he must resent the living hell out of (nominally) working for her. I wish he’d let it all out sometime.

How’re you going to make your way in the world
When you weren’t cut out for working
When your fingers are slender and frail
How’re you going to get around
In this sleazy bedroom town
If you don’t put yourself up for sale
Where will you go with your scarves and your miracles
Who’s gonna know who you are
Lies and wine and flattering light
You must try it again till you get it right
Maybe you’ll end up writing about someone different every night
All these people with no home to go home to
They’d all hate to spend the night with you
Maybe I would, too
But tell me
How’re you going to make your way in the world, woman
When you weren’t cut out for working
And you just can’t concentrate
And you always show up late
You said you were a writer
Yes, I believe you are
I thought you’d be a star
So I drank up all the money,
Yes, I drank up all the money,
With these phonies in this Washington bar,
These friends of mine in this Washington bar
Loneliness and frustration
We both came down with an acute case
And when the lights came up at two
I caught a glimpse of you
And your face looked like something
Death brought with him in his suitcase
Your pretty face
It looked so wasted
Another pretty face
Devastated
The French Inhaler
He stamped and mailed her
“So long, Johnny”
She said, “So long, Johnny”

Update: The mopped up version:
“I think Obama supporters are happy enough tonight. But I suspect they wanted McCain to show up tired and cranky and he didn’t. He appeared a leader who has done some of that leading. I have my quibbles with some of what McCain said and didn’t say, but the choices are clear in this election and I think you saw a bit of why tonight.”
And then:
“Editor’s note: This has been amended since post.”

You know, I have no experience with professional writing and editing, but something says to me that when you don’t change the essence of a piece of writing, you just clean up missing punctuation and typos, such notices are not necessary, and indeed in this case it serves as an acknowledgment of sorts regarding K-Lo’s mental state the night prior.

Simba B: If an original piece has been altered in any way, it’s usually smart editorial policy to make a note of it. Not to say that the NRO Cornerers are in any traditional sense of the word “good” or “smart.” More like “Oh shit, lookit that mess. Better fix it. Fuck, now we have to admit we fixed it cuz someone may have actually read this and even made a screencap.”
