Because big oil is obviously going to go out when we give them exclusive access rights to U.S. production, and massively increase their costs by hiring scarce production labor and buying gobs of new equipment all so that they can lower the profitability of their product, at a time when demand is literally maximized so no additional supply is needed from the point of view of producers. And why will they do this? Because U.S. consumers <i>want</i> them to! That's how the market works, right?
