I am beginning to think that maybe they knew she was useless, and the conspiracy theory that they intend to drop her is correct. The message to the base would be "we tried but the liberal media printed so many lies about her she had to withdraw".

If there is a God, I'm praying that this is true and he prompts McCain to pick Lieberman to step in.

I'm late to the party but Justme hit it right on the head with that image of Palin and the M16. If Palin had any firearms training, not even training for a Class III license, any training, she would never do what she is doing in that image. That's dumb beyond belief. Add to it, she's pointing the freaking weapon towards humans. Loaded or otherwise, that's nothing something you do unless you're trying to shoot them. Again, basic firearms safety.

Well well.. It turns out something WAS up. Bristol IS preggers. We were right to think something was up, and all the discussion is what forced Palin to come clean.

So Sarah Palin WAS irresponsible with the welfare of Trig, and her abstainance only crap didn't even take with her own daughter. Plenty of legitimate ammo there.

Speaker: Governor Sarah Heath Palin (AK)

Title: Palin Pleased with Obama's Energy Plan

Date: 08/04/2008

Location: Fairbanks, AK

Press Release

Palin Pleased with Obama's Energy Plan

Includes Alaska's Natural Gas Reserves Print Now Printer Friendly

Governor Sarah Palin today responded to the energy plan put forward by the presumptive Democratic nominee for President, Illinois Senator Barack Obama.

?I am pleased to see Senator Obama acknowledge the huge potential Alaska's natural gas reserves represent in terms of clean energy and sound jobs,? Governor Palin said. ?The steps taken by the Alaska State Legislature this past week demonstrate that we are ready, willing and able to supply the energy our nation needs.?

This won't do. Obama's energy plan consists of tire gauges and a friendly sit-down with Ahmadinejad. Nothing more, nothing less. Please get with the program, Gov. Palin.

A). Unless she has a Class III collectors’ license, she does not have an M-16.
B). If she were carrying any sort of weapon, judging by this picture, I wouldn’t want to be in the same county.
C). Nobody who holds a rifle like that has a Class III license.

Justme

That pic was hilarious. I also love the expression on that guy's face next to her. Maybe I'm just interpreting his expression with my own emotions, but sorta he looks like he's thinking, "aww shit... just don't shoot anyone..."

The funny part is that I'd probably look like that if I tried to shoot a rifle.

Shift the first apostrophe right of s.

Not necessary if you think of Mooseburger, like the press is trying to, as a force of nature. Teh Palin is going to sell Air Force One to help pay down the debt. Teh Palin has more executive experience than Chief Executive "Power Tie" McCorner-Office.

Your error is that Teh Palin ain't from Anchorage, she's from an Anchorage suburb. Wasilla is 45 miles out. That's like guys from Trenton saying that their hometown is Manhattan.

My guess is that the "Whose baby is he?" talk started as local gossip in Alaska—in the state capital, in Anchorage, and in the Palin's hometown. Now, once the talk got started, there's no stopping ratfuckers of various shapes and sizes and political inclinations from picking it up and trying to use it for their various, sometimes conflicting purposes.

"I agree that “fishpicker” has to be one of those self-defensive epithets"

OK, call me a pansy and a wuss, but I don't find it a superbly strong motivation to put your amniotic-fluid-leaking wife on a crosscontinental commercial flight, just because "you can't have a fishpicker from texas" - the monstrous threat to the Universe's symetry and order that this would represent notwithstanding...
The Palingate/pregnancy thing looks like a no-starter to me. Sure, it does look kinda suspicious, but I'm not sure it would be all that effective to use. Also, getting too far into conspiracy theories is an easy way to get yourself discredited (unless you are collecting wingnut welfare, in which case it is a sign of independent and critical thinking).

It just seems too...neat. Obama is accused of falsifying records etc, and now here is an opening for some return fire. That would also have the useful effect of making thousands of wannabe e-detectives take their eyes off the ball that is McCain, and focus on a distraction that may not yield anything more than wild conjecture.

I'm all for ratfucking and playing dirty, but you have to weigh up the potential gains and losses in any particular venture. No doubt you could probably rope in a few loonies from some conspiracy forums, get a site going and pretend to be Concerned Conservative Christian Mothers Wanting Answers From Palin or the like, I can just see it having minimal effect, for the above reasons. Its easy to discredit if it is false (and even if it isn't, its an easy way to smear the messenger) and it puts the focus on the wrong person. Palin has only had a few years to screw up in politics, even less at a state level (though she seems to be a quick learner in abuses of power). McCain has had decades of worse, and that is where attention should be focused.

tl;dr, Palin is a distraction with uncertain payoff, put the focus on McCain, where the real goods are.

"I’m not voting for him you can’t force us here in the heartland to."

OK, Gary, we told you five times, that was just a stupid joke. I am sorry you didn't find it funny, and I am sorry for the nightmares that you keep mentioning. For the last time, no it is not true that they will ship you off to Africa if you don't vote for obama. I hope you leave these folks here alone and we'll see you at the racepark this weekend.

I think figured out why McCain picked Palin. He wants to humiliate the Republican party faithful. "She's Commander in Chief of the Alaska National Guard". Got to hear that from a co-worker this morning. I learned long ago not to discuss politics with her, but I just had to know.

"I like her, she's been Commander in Chief of Alaska's National Guard which is more than you can say for Obama!"

That was pretty much the end of the conversation as I laughed myself nearly unconscious. I was able ask why she thought the Commander in Chief of the Minnesota National Guard was passed over. She had no idea who it was. Everything gets hazy after that but I'm pretty sure Russia didn't come up. I don't think I would have survived to type this if it had.

Thanks for the laughs John McCain, you cruel bastard.
