And nobody’s even started to rummage around in Cindy’s baggage. In case you weren’t aware of it, Erik, she was a pill popping thief who was caught stealing drugs from a children’s charity for Christ’s sake.

That all went away real nice, though, because she’s rich and John’s a senator with powerful friends in the DA’s office. A non-elitist might have had to stack about ten years for what she did.

It wasn’t a momentary thing. Even his campaign didn’t know how many houses McCain has.

Erik: “Maybe because he works hard to own those seven houses and was tired at the end of the day. Who gives a rats ass.”

People who don’t know where their next mortgage payment is coming from, that’s who. Clearly Thurston McCain the Third is so wealthy that he doesn’t have to trifle with such fripperies as mortgage payments. The rest of us, not so much.

Erik: “How about Obama’s long lost half-brother living in Nirobi Kenya living on $12 a day? Why doesn’t the multi-millionare all compassionate Obama take him in or at least provide him with money and a place to live so he doesn’t have to live in a shack? Goes to show you that Obama is all talk about compassion. What kind of a sick jerk wouldn’t help his own brother?”

I won’t help my own brother. But that’s because he’s a high-school dropout with a substance abuse problem.

Erik: “John McCain took a sick orphan into his own home and raised him as his son. And yet the left portrays him as some sort of villian.”

Adopting an orphan doesn’t give you a pass on other misdeeds any more than being a POW does. If adopting an orphan gives you the right to become President, I personally know a lot of people who are more suited to being President than McCain is.

Erik: “How many orphans has Obama taken care of with his own money? He thinks us regular folks should be forced to take care of the poor through taxes, but McCain did this out of charity which is how Conservatives show compassion not through government mandate.”

McCain used someone else’s money to do it (Cindy’s). What a fuggin LIBERAL.

Erik: “Just as I expected all along. Obama is just another big talking liberal politician. But talk is cheap.”

Don’t you think Lisa Bonet is a beauty? I gotta admit I didn’t care for the chicken bit, although De Niro’s long fingernails were almost as nasty.

I found myself thinking of the Ken Burns Baseball miniseries (which, though I don’t like baseball, was very entertaining), and one part that stood out to me particularly was Jackie Robinson’s having to deal with the racial animosity that would inevitably come down upon him.

Wikipedia (for what it’s worth) has a good quote:
“Rickey wanted a man who could restrain himself from responding to the ugliness of the racial hatred that was certain to come. He reminded Robinson that he would face tremendous racial animus, and insisted that he not take the bait and react angrily. Robinson was aghast: ‘Do you want a player afraid to fight back?’ Rickey replied that he needed a Negro player ‘with the guts not to fight back.’”

Is it possible that Obama’s looking to Robinson as an example of how to deal with the pressure here?
