If This Goddess Didn’t Exist, We Wouldn’t Invent Her
People that try to look like Bette Midler and that call themselves goddesses are generally suffering from more than a delusion of divinity and a desire to be called “fabulous” by their hairdressers. And Amy Alkon, the so-called Advice Goddess and yet another feeble-minded member of Pajamas Media Nutwork, is no exception. Currently she is wasting cyberspace explaining why a black woman who was accidentally shot by the police during a drug raid deserved it.
Who Places A Lower Value On Black Lives? Would that be a police officer who accidentally shoots and kills a black woman, or that woman herself, a mother of six children by five different drug-dealing fathers, who takes up with yet another drug dealer?
Clearly the woman and not the cop who pulled the trigger. She wanted to die and he was just doing her a favor. This is a joke, right? Sadly, no. It’s just more eliminationist rhetoric from a right-wing nut job:
Not surprisingly, black leaders are outraged. Also not surprisingly, their outrage is not directed at women in the black community who squeeze out litters of fatherless children, or the men who fuck and run, or fuck, deal drugs, and go to directly jail.
You mean the cops raided the home because the women had too many fatherless children? No, Amy just threw that in so that she could refer to “litters” of black children “squeezed” out by their sub-human black mothers. And to suggest people should be more outraged about the size of her oversized “litter” of black babies than by the fact that she got shot. My guess is that the closest this not-so-divine “goddess” ever came to socializing with a black person was a Saturday evening when she and her little Yorkie lap-dog watched an entire episode of “Cops.”
Seriously, do the Pajamas Media folks draw any lines on racist rhetoric? How far can a Pajamas Media blogger go? If they can talk about “litters” of black children, can they just come out and refer to black people as “porch monkeys” or “thick-lipped spades” or “shiftless coons?” I think we all know the answer.

But the fact is they are illegal, and the cops have not only the right but the duty to try and stop dealers. Yes, wrong doors get kicked in. Wrong people get arrested. It happens. But not in this case. Any law abiding citizen knows if a cop tells you to get down, you do! You argue the merits later in court, NOT when someone with a gun is yelling at you. Police put their lives on the line all day every day. They are scared THEY are going to get shot (which happens every day, mostly in black communities, but the Rev has no issue with that either. Apparently not even when the cop is black). So yeah, when someone is in a dark room and not responding to orders and the cop thinks others in the house are shooting at them, chances are that cop is going to shoot.
She was scum who’s life was a waste. The only real problem with her death is the 6 kids who will be on welfare their whole life. Or, more likely, delaing drugs like their daddies till they get shot or go to jail, where they will live off our hard-earned money the rest of their far-too-comfy lives.
Racism will go away when black people start taking responsibility for themselves and their actions and making better life choices. (that was a generalization there. Lots of black people do. But most do not.)

I hope you have space for another update to that post, because John McCain also called for a Security Council resolution condemning Russia. So today I learned that neither you, Barack Obama, nor John McCain know how the Security Council works.
Me: Okay, so I go back to the original questio, but put McCain in the dock too. Why call for a UN Security Council resolution when there can’t possibly be one? My suspicion is that the answer is the same for Obama as it is for McCain. It’s simply something people who believe in the UN say whether it makes sense or not.

Russia will not be deterred until she accomplishes the goals she set for herself at the outbreak of hostilities. Just like the US wasn’t willing to go halfway across Iraq, but was insistant upon toppling the Hussein government, the Russians have the overwhelming military capability in their region and will both demonstrate that and get some political goals accomplished.
You cannot expect the Russians to act significantly differently than the americans. They both have huge military capabilities, and they both are deeply invested in dominating their sphere of influence.
I think it matters a LOT that Georgia has a border with Russia and Iraq is nowhere NEAR america….
