Three years ago a certifiable nut, we’re talking beyond parody crazy, we’re talking one part Richard Simmons, one part Jack D. Ripper and several parts unmitigated loony-juice gave a speech. It was stilted, but for something covered on C-SPAN – it was remarkable charismatic – i.e. it had slightly more appeal than John You Can Believe In.

That audience must have been packed. Packed I tell you – Could have been a dozen people in that room. And considering that it was a four hour sesssion, at least two thirds of them were giving talks.

The applause? Pay very close attention to the video, because it sure is easy to miss. You know, if I was part of some lecture event and I was in a mostly empty room, and the bulk of my audience was people also giving talks – I’d applaud any crazy shit in hopes that the favor is reciprocated.

But you’re caught up on the fact that there’s video of the event. And it’s not mobile phone cam – or even handi-cam video. It’s fairly professional video, shot from a serious camera. It must have been something important – it was on TeeVee!

It was on fucking C-SPAN!
