So fucked up, it has to be true!

(And as far as we can tell, it is.)

Bush site bars overseas visitors

Surfers outside the US have been unable to visit the official re-election site of President George W Bush.

The blocking of browsers sited outside the US began in the early hours of Monday morning.

Since then people living outside the US trying to look at the site simply got a message saying “access denied”.

The blocking does not appear to be due to an attack by vandals or malicious hackers, but as a result of a policy decision by the Bush camp.

The international exclusion zone around georgewbush.com was spotted by net monitoring firm Netcraft which keeps an eye on traffic patterns across many different sites.

Thanks to Blair for the link.

That’s so wierd. I mean, clearly, he’s hiding things (okay, maybe “lying” is a more accurate word here), but what possible reason would he have to block the international community from looking at his official policies?

The dimwit is afraid of being subjected to a global test! Or at least an international pop quiz. A hemispheric interrogative?

The reason George’s site blocks foreign traffic is because he keeps getting hacked. (mostly because unlike John Kerry’s site, which runs RedHat Linux and Apache, George’s runs Windoze and IIS) He wants to make sure he can sic the FBI on the hackers, so they restricted access to those who are in the FBI’s jurisdiction.

I guess it’s no surprise I’m getting blocked from France. I heard yesterday it was hacked to redirect to http://www.georgewbush.org/ which is funny. Particularly with the ‘Dead Letter’ stuff. These people are just clueless!

Unfortunately, anyone who knows the (admittedly not very much) technical stuff required to hack IIS/NT also knows how to access the site via a North American proxy or by typing in the IP address, both of which still allow access.
