Bigotry loves company

From last month:

In a reversal of policy, the United States on Monday backed an Iranian initiative to deny United Nations consultative status to organizations working to protect the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people. In a letter to Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice, a coalition of 40 organizations, led by the Human Rights Campaign, Human Rights Watch, the International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission, and the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, called for an explanation of the vote which aligned the United States with governments that have long repressed the rights of sexual minorities. [...]

In voting against the applications to the NGO committee, the U.S. was joined by Cameroon, China, Cuba, Iran, Pakistan, the Russian Federation, Senegal, Sudan, and Zimbabwe. [Emphasis added]

Can we just fast forward to Bush’s war crimes tribunal and his (hopefully, televised) execution?

Wasn’t it just yesterday that the rightwingers were highlighting Libya’s chairmanship of the Human Rights Commission to show that the UN is profoundly dysfunctional?

No, it wasn’t. I must have been tripping on acid.

Hey everyone, I looked at the hot pink ‘Mass Resistance’ blog and followed a link to this:

    http://www.mrhetero.com by Tom Crotch

Enjoy! I especially admired the photo of one man and one woman holding up the leaves with which they cover their privates when they appear in abstinence education manuals.

    The United States:
We so totally ♥ FREEDOM™ and justice for ALL!!*

(* = For small quantities of freedom and justice. Only in amounts ordained by Lord High Chancellor Cheney. “…for ALL” is not equivalent to everyone. Participating states, colors, genders, religions, sexual orientations, and other unnamed restrictions only. Further restrictions may apply. To participate, persons must be at least Pioneer fundraising level with income above $3 million and swear complete allegiance to Pat Robertson, Sun Myung Moon, the Unification Church, and preferably the Church of Scientology. Void where prohibited by Condoleezza Rice, except during periods of orgasm greater than 3.2 minutes with Our Royal Figurehead George W. Bush.)

In completely unrelated news, Cameroon, China, Cuba, Iran, Pakistan, the Russian Federation, Senegal, Sudan, and Zimbabwe joined the US in promoting a measure to allow human shotgun hunting by aristocrats.

The fact is you have to give them credit (them being the administration). They work their agenda “everywhere”. Usually something like this might have gone without notice, but LGBT and other groups won’t let them out of their sight.

Gee, what happened? Where’s Uzbekistan in that list of antis? One of Bush’s pals is missing–time to gather the Super-Friends of Rights Repression and bring the lost lamb back into the fold.
